Forza Motorsport |OT| Step on the GaaS

Wheels are borderline unplayable? 😂😂 Ok!
So you garble up that kinda garbage? Show me one current-gen, or last gen, or even Forza title with such garbage quality control?

Forza Motorsport used to be one of the most polished game series up to 7 even, that has like 800 cars, I never saw this level of crap on there.

Also, it's not only that, some tracks have bizarre tree LOD's that make them look smeared at distance... I'm just unhappy with how some of this game's problems are simply ignored and we are a year after launch.

I think before RTGI, the asset quality should have been brought up to a consistent level, and I'm not talking about the car models, but stuff like that animation there

I think my point is, you don’t play the wheels 😂.

But yeah, I certainly wouldn’t get hung up on a shitty car model. It is common knowledge that their quality varies according to when they were built.

FWIW, I uninstalled Forza months ago as the career mode was the usual dry uninspired nonsense, and the MP doesn’t interest me.

Yeah you can ignore it. It's been some time since I logged in and RTGI made me excited again, but seeing those pictures above just deflated it all

RTGI maxed, but where is it? Interiors still look extremely dark to me. If there is no direct sunlight behind the car, it looks like Doom 3's stencil shadows like before with the RTAO that looked too dark. I see little to no difference after the update. Restarted the game, tried different tracks, looks bad. I tried with RT off and it looks so much better and more realistic to my eyes. Car interiors just aren't pitch black when it's broad daylight outside.

So...
I don't notice any difference, with RTGI enabled, except the needed to turn on FSR 2.0, at 4K.
I mean, seriously. I don't see a difference.
What's going on?

I also had a quick look yesterday, but from what i saw the rtgi is not working in the cockpit. And the lack of rough material reflections make it stand out even more in the cockpit. The track and outside of the car do have rtgi and it looks great. But the cockpit looks too dark with zero light bounce, not even pre baked gi like FH5. I hope this is a bug and not the final version. The visual target mod had full rtgi and full rt reflections with rough materials and more track detail and still run better than this. It was less stable obv. But looked much much better.

Did a couple comparisons and i have to say the RTGI update is a little disappointed. Its bugged and doesn't work properly in the cockpit, it even disables RTAO and breaks the shaders. The cubemaps reflections and RT reflections don't work properly on some materials in the cockpit. The track and outside of the car do look fantastic and it really makes the lighting look even better. The visual target mod was light years ahead of this version. That version is still the best looking version sadly but we can't acces it anymore :(.

Some good examples

And the biggest disappointment

From those shots, the trees look pretty good (excellent even) and some of the reflections, but most of the environment looks weirdly dark?

The track lighting looks better than in visual target mod but the interior lighting and reflections are so much better in the mod. The lack of rough surface reflection or even on some fully reflective material reflections and the complete absence of RTGI in the cockpit makes it look worse than the mod. The interiors in the mod looked soo good thanks to RTGI and full correct RT reflections that it made the materials and shaders look alot better.

Left is the mod and right is patch 15 maxed out with RTGI

Sad the see the results.
I switched it back to RTAO.
The "improvements" just aren't worth the resolution and performance sacrifice.

We can finally activate the visual target mod again with the latest update. I made some comparisons between the standard game maxed out with RTGI and visual target mod.

The difference is pretty big in the cockpit view and there are still track side details missing like grass and trees.

Played it today on PC (couldn't max out everything even at 1080p since I'm on 4060Ti with 8GBVRAM) but I was disappointed with the visuals. Put RTAO + whatever which is the last option, high car and track details but idk. Doesn't look amazing. I still prefer GT7s visuals, although I recognize FM is much more advanced.

Edit: maybe I'll change my mind after playing with everything maxed.

Also, are loading times slow for you guys? Something like 20 - 25 seconds?

Turn10 always struggles with art direction, PD is so far ahead in this department that it's not even worth comparing, the attention to detail in every car and track, the lighting and the materials, even PG is much better but they're still stuck with T10's crappy car models and shaders unfortunately

Fujimi Kaido is back! The arrival of a fictional circuit is great news. I hope this opens the door to other classic fictional circuits.
Can't wait to see Fujimi with different tod and weather, just by looking at the screenshot you can see how good it looks. The level of detail and draw distance is incredible.

Here is a higher quality version

It took them quite a while to create the circuit, so hopefully they've put a lot of effort into recreating it.
Fictional circuits have generally been the most visually pleasing, and judging by the images, it looks like this one will be the same. It's a shame it wasn't available for the first time, because it would have been a huge draw for fans.

Currently my go to games are FH5 and GT7 (lesser extent). I had my eyes on this since releasee but didn't want to spread myself too thin with racing games.

After all the upgrades now is it a good time to drop FH5 and switch to this?

It's a poor man's GT, worse in almost every respect. But you can try it for a dollar.
This is soo wrong, as someone who plays both i can say that Forza does alot of thing better than GT like
- better car list
- better FFB (on my G Pro with TF)
- better physics ( rain exlcuded obv., its even worse than FM7)
- dynamic tod and weather on all tracks
- better sandbox like freeplay
- better graphics on pc
- bigger grid
- better camera views and more customization

Its not perfect obv. and there are also lots of thing that GT does better. But to say that its a poor mans GT and worse in every aspect is just wrong.

I could try it for free since I already have Gamepass :)

Username tag checks out lol. Would you give me one or two samples of each thing either games better/worse than the other?

I already named a few for FM, let me give you the things that GT7 does better

- rain simulation is far more advanced and has alot more effect on the physics
- it has better ai, they race alot cleaner and are more competitive
- the interior view is more detailed most of the time
- the driver animations are superior
- the replays are far superior
- it has better photomode
- it has some really good single player races in the mission section
- the pit is better
- the online community is bigger
- VR VR VR!

Also if i say that one thing is better in one game compared to other game doesn't mean its bad in that one game. Its just that the other one is a better. They are both good games with both offering alot of different things to enjoy. There are alot of different tracks in both games to enjoy.

Thanks you the inside buddy. The stuff emboldened is what I truly care about. If the AL is similar to FH5 its acceptable for me. As long as the races aren't disastrous; which I don't think they are, then I can run with that as well. I'll put it on download.

It's just such a joyless soulless corporate barebones racer that it's hard to appreciate the good bits, they really stripped it down to the very basics that there's barely anything left. No atmosphere to speak of, no excitement, terrible music, menus, a joke of a career, multiplayer is decent but it's half dead and no stats or anything to track your achievements. It's really the intangible things that put GT ahead for me, you can feel the passion of the devs and you have many things to do and discover around the menus, the little jingles and quirks. The core gameplay is good in both, but everything surrounding the driving is just garbage in FM8.

I finally gave up on this game and deleted it last night - the car handling is awful, just understeer into every corner unless you slow down to a snails pace and then understeer if you even try to accelerate on the way out.
The AI is fucking moronic and retarded as well.
Always felt like the car was ready to spin out whatever I did as well and just wasnt fun to drive at all compared to GT7.

Ive actually been playing a lot of Grid Legends as well which I founbd a lot better than this.

Annoyed because I sold my copy of FM7 for this...

Sounds like you want more arcade and less sim. Not like FM is a sim, but it's certainly more geared to SIM than something like Grid Legends. Go try to take the turns IRL at the speeds you are saying are a snails pace and tell me how that worked out for you.

Na, not at all.

I have GT7, Project Cars 1, Assetto Corsa & Competizione and none of them handle as badly as this game. Same car/s and same track/s too.

Plus, I play these games because I cant go do this in real life....

100%. It still feels as barebones as the day it came out because they've basically only added tracks and cars.

The menu structure, event list, etc, are all the same sterile garbage as its been since Day 1. Which itself feels like they cobbled it together at the last minute because something horrific happened in development and they had to scrap a bunch of content.

Example: what the hell's the point of the 4-car garage? You can't walk over to check out the cars, something PGR3/4 did a decade-and-a-half ago. The cars just sit there in the back, doing nothing. You can't change your homespace at all, something Forza 3 and 4 had.

Garbage, just garbage.
