watching all the candidates speak at debates/rallies so far this election cycle really shows how many lightyears ahead of them Obama is in charm and public speaking. For as much as I agree with Bernie, dude is completely boring on the podium.

We're not gonna get a candidate like Obama again in a while.
Meh, what charisma Bernie lacks he makes up for it in his policies and directness. Reagan was good on the podium, but fuck Reagans policies. Hilary is gonna pretty much just keep things stagnating, Bernie has radical plans that if enacted will bring about as much change as we've experienced in Obama's second term.

You think Bernie is boring? Is is like a more fiery Noam Chomsky.

I like Bernie's public speaking. You can sense a sincere passion that none of the GOP candidates have. Although Obama is extraordinary oratorically, the other main differentiator is looks/age, which will also hinder his chances.

That wasn't the point that was being made. smh.

But it's true, we now have a generation that is used to watching a relatable regular dude (who happens to be black) with superior political talent be president. I think the optics transition from him to President Hillary is gonna be really awkward, just as it was going from JFK to LBJ...

Bernie has the interests of both the lower class and black people more in mind with his policies than either Hilary or Obama if we're being real. He makes them look moderate and conceding by comparison. We wouldn't get a gimped Healthcare Reform, bullshit TTP act, or see him conceding to dudes like John Boehner.

Yea...he wouldn't get anything passed you mean. I like the dude but let's be real. The ACA is actually helping millions of people and long term is a trojan horse for universal healthcare coverage. A more liberal bill was not going to pass; it's compromised for a reason: to pass it.

Sanders would be the next Jimmy Carter. A great, principled man unable to get much of anything done with congress due to tension with his own party and an inability to work with the other side.

I was referring to a post from last page complaining about Bernie being boring; good, politics need to be boring and not crazy events fueled by multi-millions of dollars. I agree that Obama is one of a kind; perfect guy, perfect place, perfect guy, and I believe him when he says he'd win another election - which would be cool since 2015 Obama is amazing.

Des: agreed. But then you see stuff like the #BlackLivesMatter movement interrupting him and all; not sure how he's gonna win over that demographic.

In an ideal world, people would vote for their candidates solely based on their experience and policies. That's not the case however, you need to win over certain demographics with exposure and personal likability. There's a reason Bernie is pushing his campaign towards Reddit and other social media, since that's where he'll gather most of his supporters.

Sanders would be in for the fight of his life as president but I still plan to vote for him. Even if my beliefs didn't match up almost entirely, the fact he has come out for prison reform and an end to profit driven private prisons would make me back him. It's long past due and I've been distressed for a while now at the lack of real effort in prison reform.

just listened to the interview, and I thought he sounded really good

so according to Mac, Schoolboy Q is like completely clean, focused, and works out all the time...we'll see I guess

he looked tired, worn out a little bit. maybe it was the time of day the interview was taking place, or the Hennessey he was drinking during it but he definitely had moments of slurring words sounding like he's had a wee bit too much

Sanders pulled 70,000 people to his rally in LA, that's a little more than just internet hype. Media wants to ignore him but the point is going to come soon where they can't without looking stupid as fuck. Well stupider.

Edit: my bad got my numbers wrong, it was 27,000. 100,000 over the last few rallys.

Mac: Jay Elec looked at me [after Mac just blew his set forgetting all his rhymes] and said "There are no fuck ups in rap."
Yee: Yeah, he knows.

lmaooo

I feel for Yee, she was the first person to put this dude on and he still hasn't done shit.

Numbers are looking stronger than last time for Hillary. Hell, it was even considered a minor miracle that Obama managed to get a narrow win over her last time. Unfortunately, Bernie ain't happening breh.

What will insure Bernie doesn't happen is the attitude that Bernie ain't happening. If his ideas and beliefs speak to you, fuck what Hilary's camp and the right are trying to paint the picture as.

Well, I'm still voting for him. I don't know if I can realistically expect the rest of the country to do the same though.

i get you nibels, PD is taking the pragmatic approach here though
mind you, BAD NEWS FOR OBAMA but still

cant cosign this hard enough; one of the big things obama talked about down here during his own rally was taking down the 3 strike law/criminal law reform. he managed a lot but it sucks how far that one got pushed onto the backburner, and you're right that nobody talks about this either (because it sadly doesn't get votes)

Y'all know damn well young liberals don't vote

they showed up for obama nah?

I guess I'd prefer someone with conviction and assertion than be a charming demagogue. We'd be better with less hype in politics, and more cold hard truths.

we certainly would, but then PD kinda said it too...how would that person get anything done in our current political climate? jimmy carter doesn't feel like a bad analogy here sadly

Swallowing cold hard facts about swallowing cold hard facts not working in the US political system is a really hard fact to swallow. Pause.

Obama was/is a transformational candidate with far more appeal. Sanders isn't capable of building the coalition required to win (blacks, Hispanics, young people, white women, gay people, etc). So far Hillary has been holding that coalition whereas Sanders is doing well amongst liberal college students and liberal whites.

I'll admit I watched the GOP debate for the show. I left terrified at how contrived and arbitrary all the language was that the GOP uses. How can any really sort through all their claims. It's just like any other agenda based internet movement, where they browbeat buzzwords and doublespeak into you. They talked about raising x, lowering y. Without ever defending what that means and how that affects the world.

NY GAF-Hop brehs, I'm coming to New York next week for a week from my home city of London.

Are these hip-hop tours any good and worth doing?

TPAB sales update (United States only): 670k pure, like 830k with streams. Will be platinum by next spring or summer, I'd imagine. Already past 1mil world wide.

Pretty impressive for an album with no hit singles, radio play, or a traditional/modern sound.

King kunta got mad play here in LA. I know it's partially home town love but I gotta imagine it's on a few other stations as well.
