The PS5 may be the end of consoles. And I don't mean end of selling them, Microsoft and Sony and Nintendo making new consoles of course. But PS6, Next Xbox, Switch 2 may be the last consoles we see out. Now Nintendo probably will continue consoles. But Sony and Microsoft might go well we make more money profit selling digital, than we never have to make the discs and plastic movie holder things for discs. I think PS6 and Xbox next might be the last console generation before Sony and Microsoft just go get our games on PC now, Steam and Xbox app, there you kids. Because at this point we have 10.3 teraflop PS5. 12 teraflops Xbox Series X, 4 teraflops Xbox Series S, and 16.7 teraflops PS5 Pro. So I'm thinking the PS6 will be 20 or 25 teraflops and cost start at $600 at the very least. Xbox next console start at $550 and 27 to 30 teraflops. With how high the performance highs are now I just think both companies will go to PC and stop making consoles.

Xbox will dip after next generation, Sony will ride it as long as they can but I also agree they will eventually get out of the console market. Nintendo will never stop.

God of War Ragnarok > GOW3
Horizon FW > Killzone 2/3 SP
Helldivers 2 > Killzone MP
Spiderman 2 > MGS4
Uncharted = AstroBot (different genres or whatever, just going by quality)
Ratchet RA > ToD
Returnal > Resistance Series
Demons Souls > Lair, Heavenly Sword, whatever.
GT7 > GT5

God of War Ragnarok > GOW3 -ok fine agreed
Horizon FW > Killzone 2/3 SP -fw sucked
Helldivers 2 > Killzone MP -agreed
Spiderman 2 > MGS4 - oh fuck off with this 😂
Uncharted = AstroBot (different genres or whatever, just going by quality) ok I’ll go with Astro on this
Uncharted 2 -wins by default
Uncharted 3 -wins by default
Ratchet RA > ToD -ok sure agreed
Returnal > Resistance Series -agreed
Demons Souls > Lair, Heavenly Sword, whatever. -agreed
GT7 > GT5 -does anyone care?
Last of us- wins by default

6-5-1 in favor of PS5. There we have it PS5 is better in my opinion. Feel free to argue against my opinion as your opinion is right too!

No ones opinion is wrong, its their opinion to have

The hardware rules. I haven’t forgotten how annoying it was to play games with my PS4 sounding like a jet engine, even though I absolutely loved that console and generation.

The console is basically exactly what I wanted as an upgrade so I can’t call it a disappointment. The software we have gotten is pretty damn good for the most part. But the insane dev times and mistakes they’ve made with GaaS and such have definitely hurt. That being said, I still have more to play than I could ever complete and it’s a great machine to play games on. So overall, no.

I was agreeing with you, not everyone here does that though :)
Nobody is saying people can't have their opinion.

But saying Sony 1st party output is somehow worse for PS5, when it's just like any other gen, is objectively false.

Whether or not people like their offering is subjective.

You already got called out on your post in the replies right after it, on the same age, with multiple people pointing out you actually showed PS5 output has been on par, despite your cherrypicking.

So again, whether or not you like their output is subjective.

If you remove games that are also on PS4, PS5 is quite poor.

Also, years 2011-2013 were very good for PS3 while PS5 has barely anything launching from Sony (announced). Final comparison will be done in 2027 but it doesn't look too great for PS5 right now.

Moving goalposts.

PS3 games were only on PS3, PS5 and PS4 share some library.

Cross gen is also one of the things that makes PS5 library look weaker, same is true for pc ports for people like me. I haven't used PS5 since metaphor and I could play that on pc as well, I just wanted physical version...

To some extent, sure.
But output remains the same and it was on PS5.

If that wasn't worth buying a PS5 for, that could be a good reason.
If you bought a PS5 regardless, it shouldn't matter.

If they would just say they don't like the games, there wouldn't be a discussion.

But some can't help but be disingenuous.

Because they know they're good games.

Their primary argument is that the games are available on other devices whether they play better on PS5 is irrelevant. Whether the PS5 is more cost-effective is irrelevant.

No one is looking to play these cross gen games on PS4 at 1080p30... no one.. yet here they are pretending...

I think a lot has to do with the narrative that Sony's live service comes at the expense of singleplayer releases.

People convinced themselves this is the case as well.

When you make a brand your personality, any attack of said brand feels like a personal insult. I'm convinced half of this forum would cease to exist if Sony disappeared. They'd literally dematerialize into the ether because they are so intrinsically linked that they couldn't sustain sentience without THE BRAND. This place is filled with corpo zombies.
I'm a playstation fan, and what I mean by that is, I'm a fan of playstation from 1995-2013. They died with the PS4. I still like Xbox. Sony just doesn't have that japanese magic they had. The CECHA01 PS3 is still the best PS ever made. 1 console, 8000 games.

God of War Ragnarok(not exclusive)< GOW3
Horizon FW(not exclusive)<< Killzone 2/3
Helldivers 2 > Killzone MP eh
Spiderman 2(not exclusive)<<< MGS4
Uncharted 2 > AstroBot (different genres or whatever, just going by quality)
Ratchet RA > ToD
Returnal < Resistance Series
Demons Souls < Demon's Souls PS3 because it had a bigger impact
GT7 > GT5

Many other PS3 games existed back then with a larger and overall more robust library than PS5 thus far.
Sony used to make video games. More so movie games nowadays. They used to be the variety console.

But it does though. Using the two most recent examples, both Bend and Bluepoint's last released projects were single player games. They both recently had their long gestating live service projects canceled.

Whatever they start on now will not see light of day for a few years, they might have some smaller scope things or remasters in the interim but their new full releases are definitely not coming any time soon.

Overall singleplayer output so far has been on par with other gens, though.
That was my point.

But you've got a point there.

Bojji does not think that Zelda and Mario Kart 8 being crossgen titles makes the Switch weaker... I promise you that.

I bought PS5 for Sony exclusives. It was 2021 and before they announced their plans for multiplatform releases. If I knew how dire their output will be and that most games will end up on PC I would skip this console.

Now I use it to play physical versions of games every few months and maybe some time exclusive from Sony in late 2025/early 2026. GTA6 maybe if PS5 version is ok? This is ridiculous.

Sony was talking about PC releases since 2019.

So if PC releases are an issue, that's on you.

I think he is still referring to cross gen games here (though maybe both).

There's just not much intellectual honesty around it. Maybe his argument is that he feels he doesn't need a PS5 and could just play on PC. I think it's a fair argument if that's you preferred way of playing, but as you said, it was clear Sony was putting more games on PC well before he bought a PS5 to the point where I think he's acting as a massive troll.

Nah, he clearly expressed PC releases in the first part of his post.

If they make the PS5 unappealing for a PC gamer, that makes sense.
But implying you were mislead while Playstation already discussed it publicly for 2 years is disingenuous as well.🤷🏾‍♂️

Yeah, you have games like Heavy Rain released years before but their current PC strategy started after I bought the console. That's for sure.

Both cross gen and PC ports make PS5 library look weaker for someone with PC/PS4. List of actual PS5 exclusives is here:

It was announced/made public in 2019 already:

"In an interview, Shawn Layden, chairman of Sony's game studios worldwide, said exclusive titles will still be a part of the company's strategy, but that some games — particularly multiplayer titles designed to be played on personal computers — may see broader distribution. 'We must support the PlayStation platform — that is non-negotiable,' Layden said. 'That said, you will see in the future some titles coming out of my collection of studios which may need to lean into a wider installed base.'

"Multiplayer games"

By Q1 2025 most of their single player games got ported...

PC ports are good for Sony and general audience but it also makes PS5 way less necessary FOR ME compared to PS3/PS4.

"in particular multiplayer games"

This statement alone implied singleplayer games were up for debate as well.

In march 2020, Hulst discussed the PC port for HZD in a Playstation Blog:

Anyway, making PS5 less appealing to you is fair, but you blame Sony for misleading you, which is entirely on you.

I expected the same thing that they were doing with PS1-PS4, so for ~25 years. I didn't expect changes in strategy but here we are.

February 2021...

Games being on other platforms doesn't make the platform you're playing on worse, especially previous generations. You're lying about not knowing that games were going to PC and you're disingenuous about cross gen.

You're trolling.

You expected this scale of ports at the time? I remember that Sony fanboys were super triggered when more ports were announced. When I bought PS5 I only knew about HZD being released on PC, I missed the news about DG. Still, this was all few years old PS4 games. At the time no PS5 game was ported.

LOL, Sony used to put a bunch of their games on PC during the PS1 era...

And what after that?

"We do believe in generations, and whether it's the DualSense controller, whether it's the 3D audio, whether it's the multiple ways that the SSD can be used... we are thinking that it is time to give the PlayStation community something new, something different, that can really only be enjoyed on PS5."

My favourite ever pc game age of mythology is coming to PS5 tomorrow. Once it launches that will officially cement the PS5 as the worst generation ever for me. Can't wait.
