Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered vs Original PS5 Early Graphics Comparison

Most of the trailer looks like difference in color grading and some higher draw distance in some far shots.

Rost looks less detailed in the remaster for some reason. They removed the blemishes from his face and changed his hair color.

Has James Cameron been employed for this remaster?

Well its good for newcomers but not for the ps fans . I platinumed the first one put over 100 hours into it so i would not upgrade to this
I've been looking for a chance to replay it after so many years and this is perfect for me. If you agree that there is a market for it, then I don't see why you complain. This is likely a side-project on a small scale that didn't affect whatever main game they're developing. If it's not for you then just ignore it.

Oh yes. Very weak. Bunch of crap 4 stars characters in the game, but she is a very weak 5 stars.
Keep telling this to yourself and maybe someone will believe.
She is worse than most 4* characters. Her 5* is just for looks, she is not really usable anywhere. It's literally collab "skin" character for collection and not for gameplay.
Even Amber (being a fire character and not ultra-gimped frost) has better setups than her.

Who gives a fuck?! Normally I'm one to pick up on shit like this and complain but this is just nitpicking for the sake of it!

It looks a bit better, but I already have the original. This is the same game with a slight spruce up. I can't see it justifying a double dip.

I'm out.

You may not like Alloy but it doesn't change a fact that package popular with Aloy, and popularity of this package without Alloy is not proven.

Your last line is why both of your arguments are rather pointless. You can’t argue Horizon is popular with or without Aloy because, outside of Call of the Mountain, every Horizon game has been centered around Aloy.

You can’t prove she’s the cornerstone of the franchise’s popularity because there’s never been anyone else carrying the torch. Likewise, he can’t disprove Aloy’s potential popularity for the same reason.

Bringing up crossovers isn’t a strong argument for his case because while she may not have been well received in Genshin, she was well received in Monster Hunter World. 🤷

Until we have a full Horizon game without her, no one can say either way how much Aloy herself contributes to the franchise’s popularity.

The brain rotten will show you this and insist you are the problem.
Looks like actual brain rot might be indeed a serious problem for one of us..

Still can't get over the fact they used the fat cow model of the second game for this.
"Actual evidence" showing that, in-game, they DID make Aloy a fat cow. Darn lighting, just adding pounds after pounds to a character.
Those extreme close ups aren't in-game. They can put 1000 bobble heads on a black background, that still won't change the fact that what they actually used in the game was a fat cow for a model.

They actually made her arms even slimmer and more feminine than the original in the Remaster..

You've proven my point with the actual in-game screenshot, that just conveniently had her whole head covered up. I know the brain rot has been strong for years now, at this point there's no salvaging anything, but at least stop.
Here, get a hold of your fat cow.

Yeah, dude, you're totally convincing me. I don't even think you've got a serious problem or anything, what with your miles-long image-dump replies. Of course there's no brain rot or anything. You're absolutely right :messenger_unamused:

I stay in formal logic
Franchise WITH Alloy is proven. It's a fact.
Franchise without Alloy is just a fantasy.
No matter how you look at it, from logic or probability point of view - it's significantly higher chance that Alloy do contribute to franchise that she does not. It doesn't matter that you personally disagree with this.
You are falling to a fallacy of "prove me that I am wrong and if you can't I am right" - it's not correct
We have a provable point - it's 100% accuracy. And it's include Alloy in the success package. Than we have some fantasies that have accuracy of 50% at best. And 100% against 50% wins

The picture on the right may be technologically more advanced, but when seen not zoomed in normal playing conditions the image on the left will look better.

Artists use these kind of tricks since the dawn of time. Better technology alone means nothing if you lack the art skills to make something actually look better to analogic human eyes.

Forget her arms, look at her clothes. The original looks clearly more detailed. How can the supergenious smartasses of the forum say that the remaster looks better all around?

This is Dark Souls Remastered all over again.

This whole situation reminds me of Life is Strange remasters... not only no one asked for them, but they've also succeeded in making some characters look worse than in the original.

And one of their explanations is using motion blur? Lol.

GerAlt-Right. Ciriously.
🤣 Got your panties in a bunch over a bit of fucking swearing?

But point taken on Nixxes.

Feels like this should be a free upgrade to the existing game instead of charging for it though.
Got your panties in a bunch over a $10 remaster.

No, it doesn't need to be free when the existing version is perfectly playable on a PS5.

Aloy is a real cutiepie. One of the most adorable and autistic redheads in gaming. :messenger_heart:

But the sidecharacters in Forbidden West are so incredibly bland and without any edge in their personality that I barely register what they are saying. Not even that guy with the beard who talks about ale is especially abrasive, there's no sharp edges anywhere. They are all so harmless. I hope Zero Dawn is better in that regard if I feel like trying it out.

Switch's best selling game has almost double the content as its Wii U predecessor. People are paying for more gameplay rather than the same game with a new coat of paint.
At $85, though. Otherwise you're stuck with the base version at $60, I know I am.
You are really trying too hard to compare a colossal franchise as MK8 against HZD?

Nintendo could ask $90 and nobody would complain. The games quality speaks for himself.
Imagine hating Sony so much that you become a Nintendrone for the sake of it, lmao.

Okay, so I looked at these closely for a good amount of time. I think the new graphics are technically better. The old graphics have much less contrast and looks a little duller.

However, the more subdued color pallet makes the first game have a more gritty and realistic feeling.

In motion I believe the remaster will be a much better game graphically in every way and the old color pallet and the old version will always be the inferior version despite the trick of the eyes, even though it could have been done better imho. That said, there really isn’t a need for this remaster imho, unless it brings some qol or new content.

I'd love to know how long it takes to put together these fucking pointless remasters, and what else the dev team could have been working on instead in that time.

Not as long as you think.

The majority of the work was done with HFW. All the assets for their NPCs and animations are also dynamically updated (not hand-tuned much)

This was put together by Nixes after they already made multiple PC ports this year.

So I don't hate the hate. This isn't really taking viable resources away from other projects. Just an easy way to improve a legacy title.

I'm a little confused. From the looks of it, the graphics are objectively better, but the art style is somehow worse to the point that it makes the old game still viable? How does that even happen?

Lol it's amazing how so many of these types of projects get butchered in one way or another. I'm still annoyed with Sony for the "built from the ground up for PS5" LoU Part 1 remake because it was the same fidelity as LoU2 running at 60 fps via backwards compatability but at least they didn't butcher characters and art style.

Who remembers what they did to Alan Wake's face in that remaster? Btw Alan Wake remaster just had songs removed via a patch, don't you just love this industry?

This is so stupid. There are like, a dozen games still stuck on the PS3.

The fuck Sony? Feels like a 'out of touch' scam, or some sort of sweeping move to ignore their older catalogue.

The Horizon franchise feels like an industry plant; Sony really wanting it to be a beloved success while in reality, most feel 'meh, it's alright I guess' about it.

For real where the frick are 4k ports of stuff like: killzone 2 and 3, god of war accension, resistance, motorstorm, uncharted 1-3, infamous 1+2, mgs4, ,gran turismo etc? Where the F is Bloodborne? 4k/60 patches for Driveclub, the Order and Gravity Rush 2.

They've got an $800 system coming out too they should ve making an effort to update the games that should've been updated when the PS5 came out ...you don't have to give us anything but at least do the bare minimum to justify why your consoles still matter compared to PC gaming.

Will more than likely buy it because it was one of my top 5 of PS4 gen. Game had infinite possibilities in which to do battle. Depending on what you were about to get into select all the right ammo, lay trip wires where terrain allowed and get to it. So many approaches to do the same thing. Great game.

I'm a fan of Days Gone but I don't see the need of a remaster. The 60FPS patched PS5 version is perfectly fine.

Not only that, but I'm afraid it'll be a sidegrade like in this HZD case. Let's be honest, these remasters are cashgrabs made on the cheap.

I have been going down the audiophile rabbit hole recently, and hearing comparisons between $3,000 headsets and $300 headsets being described as, "Yeah it just depends on what soundstage you're looking for.."

That's pretty much what this feels like. It's Horizon, sure, but it's just another flavour.
