He started losing subscribers before that, since he went from reviewing games and in general making good points, to basically just complaining about EA, Ubisoft, AAA games and in general capitalism. He's always been "queer" and people were fine with it. It's his content quality that has been lacking. His content has stayed the same if you skip those sections where he talks on camera.

But that is not entirely his fault. A couple of years ago he admitted that every time he made a video that was not bitching about AAA games, like reviewing a less known indie, he would get much fewer views.

And yes, words don't hurt people in the same way as planned attacks or violence does, and depending on the person they don't hurt at all, but I don't see freedom of speech as a reason to act a dunkey. It's something I see coming up ever so often, with people being literally antisocial assholes on purpose with freedom of speech being the excuse. Just because you are allowed to say something doesn't mean you should. When platforms like a marketplace, or Youtube, Twitter, etc. come with certain guidelines, I understand the censorship, even though I am absolutely for freedom of expression, artistic freedom, and so forth. After all, they don't want to commit to hate and misinformation, which can be dangerous in its own right.

It's a topic that requires a lot of nuances, though.

The thing is freedom of speech does not guarantee you freedom from consequence.

Truly bad ideas will be put in their place without censorship. There are already many social mechanisms to deal with bad ideas. If your idea is truly bad you will be publicly humiliated and you may lose your friends, people will lose respect for you, people will stop listening to you etc etc.

If you censor it / criminalise it, as FingerBang said you're not eradicating the bad idea, you're pushing it underground. You never give it a chance to surface so it can be dealt with. If we are allowed the opportunity to discuss a bad idea maybe the person can be helped to understand why it's a bad idea and their line of reasoning is just flawed. If you censor it, they will never be given the opportunity to come to that conclusion.

Censoring / cancelling is just bad. Yes there are a lot of terrible ideas out there but censoring them simply does not solve the problem.

And then you have the other issue it creates: who decides what to censor? Who decides what is offensive?

I am Asian and I have been called every racial expletive under the sun. But I still cannot agree with censorship in any form. If someone wants to call me a racial slur let them, because censorship has a far, far greater cost than my hurt feelings.

If people can't talk things out then it only leads to one place: physical violence, conflict, war. Words are the only mechanism we have for peace.

Curious what "old" videos are. Years, roughly?
I watched some of his videos in... 2017? 2018? and thought they were awful. So much of the videos are needless repetition, content that seemed to be grinded out to meet a quota rather than to make a meaningful, new point. And while I get the youtube algorithm is fucked - of course - that doesn't make his videos any better.

Example: YouTube now show what games/movie are displayed in a yt video at the description.

And I believe something steam related as well, I think it was the greenlight system (?).

Except that sex is NOT binary, it’s bimodal. If sex was binary as you say, then intersex people, people born with a set of sexual chromosomes not matching neither XY nor XX and/or with sexual characteristic associated with a man nor a woman, would not exist. But intersex people do exist, their existance it’s an objective fact, recognised by science, and facts do not care about your feelings. Science is a research method based on evidence, not a buzzword you can throw around to pass you misinterpretation of simplified scientific concepts as facts.

Sex is bimodal (a spectrum between 2 defined points) and not binary (two mutually exclusive options), because nothing in nature can be binary. Nature is based on randomness and as such there is so conscious design behind how it behaves. The concept of “binary” on the other hand is entirely man-made and at odds with nature and can only really exists in computer science, since those are artificially made.
The concept of binary derived from man’s simplification of more complex phenomenons: a man might perceive an object as moving or inhert, but from a physics’ point of view said object is always moving at given velocity, which in some instances might be 0.

So to reiterate, no sex is not binary because human biology and scientific reality do not care about man-made fantasy concepts such as “binary”.
