Is Sony as a gaming company in trouble?

Sony has put out a lot of money and time with live service games. So far the only title that has made any significant push to this date has been Helldivers 2. The overwhelmingly majority of the top gaming companies in the world today are live service from the Valve’s, Riot Games, Epic Games, Rockstar ect. so it’s no surprise to see Sony making a huge investment in this sector. With the rising cost of AAA games Sony is of the few companies that are still in position to take on this massive problem while these other companies (listed earlier) have transitioned from that position. What can Sony do so that their gaming division can remain successful?

You make it sound like they released many GaaS games, it's true they cancelled some (just like they and everyone cancels SP games too), but they've had a hit (HD2) and a flop (Concord).

And they are successful right now. To grow? they need either more hits on their GaaS section or to have a higher install base to sell their games on (selling more than 120m consoles per generation, or selling on PC too).

Or making more money per Playstation sold (worse specs or higher price)

No. Sony could stop making games completely and still be fine with Xbox bowing out. People will still buy consoles and they would still get that 30% cut of software.

short term plan:
just wait out until the genius in command of xbox to burn it to the ground completely, hell you don't even need to release games, they'll do it for you lol.
tada millions of rats converted overnight.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
The console still sells and they make money off other published games, they're fine.
But they may need to re-evaluate what they're doing as a publisher because the last 5 years hasn't been kind.

They don't have to be. The one thing that could get them in trouble is influential brass who don't want to be in the gaming biz.

Concord by itself was over a 100 million in investment. Look at the Bungie situation too, you’re talking about billions of dollars. Not only that but you also got the AAA development cost problem that is getting ridiculously expensive.

No, they not only have a lot more hits than misses they also have great contributions from third party studios like square-enix and microsoft.

September’s anticipated showcase should hopefully reveal if they are correcting course, or doubling down regarding gaming content. They have wound up as the de facto high powered console though, given Microsoft’s failures and strategy change to third party. So they will survive there.

What? 2019, 2020, 2022 and 2024 have been good/great for Sony published content. Only 2021 and 2023 truly sucked.

No, but at this rate this whole woke agenda and these blue haired hires aren’t doing them any favors. the more they speak or spout off on twitter, the more they try to shovel this agenda down our throats the more it alienates and rubs the fanbase and gamers alike in the wrong way.
