Mario Kart World, official 4k screenshots

I get what you're saying, but the sheer amount of insane shit going on in the trailer, from rail-grinding to weird power-ups to hijacking a tractor trailer, alleviated that concern for me. It seems like they're committed to preserving the manic energy if traditional Mario Kart.

I was honestly absolutely blown away by the trailer, and I'm generally only sort of casually interested in Mario Kart. I definitely don't feel the nostalgia or excitement for it that I have for Zelda or 3D Mario, but I'm so sold on this.
I think they'll be some fun interactions but I'd also love it if there was a campaign with challenges and secrets to find that unlock characters and vehicles.

Go ahead. Someone tell me this game has “bad graphics” 😂

Doesn't look great. Low poly and low res textures everywhere. It does look better than MK8 Deluxe but not by much.

This is porbably native 4K so that alone takes up most of the processing. They should've went with upscaled 4K and increased geometric fidelity and textures.
You must have been looking hard to find a place where you could zoom in and make it look slightly worse. But each to their own.

Nintendo haters always going to hate. This looks amazing in screenshots. In motion at 4K on my LG OLED it will look sublime.
I’m just so happy Nintendo is finally supporting HDR. I didn’t think they would, since HDR is a lot harder to achieve on an LCD than an OLED, and we knew the handheld would be LCD.

I wonder if this means that the console’s LCD has local dimming. That would be kinda nuts.

God I really feared the latest DLC tracks were not a proof of concept for art direction of next MK, I really wished they followed on MK8 art style but well, Nintendo had other plans.

BTW MKW screenshots look impressive, way better than in the trailer, I still can't stand the way too bright shadows but can't do nothing about it.

It looks like Nintendo decided to focus on IQ this gen instead of overly increasing game graphics complexity, considering they we already putting beautiful games anyway.

I paid good money for this Dynex!
It does look good, and I'm glad that the new hardware is mercifully up to the task of delivering good image quality and frame rates... and the draw distances look good, too. This inspires optimism.

It looks *good for Switch 2*

Still generations behind. Another Open World Racer, Forza Horizon 5, looks generations ahead.

I'm more interested in the gameplay improvements and open world nature. Does it have an actual campaign with lots of exploration in the open world? They better justify that ridiculous price tag of theirs. I hope reviewers start docking points for this shit if it's not up to the value. $80 better be a goddamn masterpiece, not just a bunch of DLC tracks stitched together with a shoe horned open world.

Hell yeah, absolutely. I'm hoping these are exactly the sort of announcements that show up in the MKW Direct in a couple of weeks.

last time i checked 4k and 60fps wasnt important for Nintendo fans

It is not, clear IQ is for many of us tho, I wish Nintendo kept resolution in 2K and keep frame rate at 60 with decent graphics. Switch have lookers, they just need some IQ and for me, 60 fps, but other than that I pleased with their graphics so far, everything else will be a plus.

Grand Turismo Sport looked almost photorealistic on similar hardware(?).

Now I know that Nintendo isn't going for photorealism here but there's no way you're telling me these are great graphics. It looks like a Switch game with better resolution and the world looks pretty minimalistic to say the least.

You're comparing Gran Turismo Mario Kart? lmao come on

You might as well compare The Last of Us to Donkey Kong while you're at it.

Good thing that I am a gamer and I actually know how to and what it means to enjoy video games, so when I am barreling down the track and power sliding into the final turn in 1st place and the pack is hot on my tail and the standings require that I win this race to win the cup by one point and a shell smacks me in the ass and I tumble over the finish line by a low-res textured Mario moustache hair before the Cow and I whoop and holler with my friends at the shenanigans and fun and my victory, I won't be worried about the "low-res textures" on Mario's cap.

It does look amazing. Some textures are a bit low res but overall it's a really pleasing game visually. I'm more interested in the open world aspect of it, that's the exciting part.

MKW has higher resolution and IQ than GT Sport plus open world.

Looks amazing to me! Not convinced by the open world stuff but I'm sure the grand prix and the game in general will be fantastic. Looking forward to playing it in the couch with my girlfriend for sure!

But I thought people said this looked the same as Mario kart 8 deluxe, If you go of the compressed direct it still looked miles better. When you see these screens and the uncompressed trailer on Nintendo of America's YouTube site it's night and day.

The image quality and color volume looks incredible on an oled screen! Beautiful lighting, I wonder what techniques they are using, because the time of day and weather aren't static.

Nintendo are masters of minimum effort, maximum output. The fact they are selling a 2017 Zelda with a repackaged catridge and a new code for way more money than the original price just to play the same game on a new console. I always like watching Nintendo anouncements and seeing people just getting bamboozled at every corner. Only Nintendo can do that, PS or Xbox....if a game doesnt have 60fps, the whole company has pitchforks pointed at it. In the end, it will always sell because its the most common console amongst kids. There are a lot of you adults that buy it but there are way more children out there whose parents would still rather get them a N console thant PS or xbox. Lucky for them, kids dont care about 4K or that the game looks almost the same 10 years later.

I thought I was the only one, which is why I wasn't saying anything lol.

The extremely low-poly textures, especially for environment, is mind-boggling. This is a 2025 "next-gen" game on an almost $500 console, which is more expensive than a PS5 Digital. The trees in the background in one of the above images look horrible.

The saving grace is that the game will be fun AF.

Oh all right! I just preordered the Mario Cart bundle and a pro controller. I was sceptical after the Switch 2 reveal, but I just can’t pass up a
New Mario Cart and 4k Metroid Prime.

While OLED is a better fir for HDR the more modern LCD screen can do a pretty decent job. My 4K JVC projector manages pretty well with it's frame by frame HDR tone mapping, We will have to see how it turns out.
