Most mismanaged franchises of all time?

Halo was once the biggest game in the industry and it was exclusive to one platform. I cannot think of another title quite like it. It single-handedly carried an entire platform and catapulted Microsoft into their place in the big three. Think of it's larger cultural impact...in terms of popularizing Machinima and online voice-chat/smack talk/t-bagging.

Now look at where it is and tell me it isn't the biggest fall from grace. Halo Infinite might be a solid title but there's no doubt it doesn't have the cultural zeitgeist it once had. Of all the failures Microsoft has had over the last 15 years, I'd say this is the biggest.

We really should require people to say why they say it has been mismanaged lol.

Most of these are essentially people not liking how games have changed rather than them being mismanaged as those are different.

I’d say the number 1 rule mo is either duke nukem or star citizen. Duke nukem as they had so many starts and stops and sputters. They ruined it several times over.

Star citizen for me has to do with the amount of time and money that has gone into it with pretty huge pr issues about that. This is likely premature though as the game may end up being fantastic.
Agreed. That's the same gist I had when reading a lot of the posts here. I was like, :pie_diana: are you kidding me?

Battlefield, after BF2 commander mode was removed and most of the functionality moved to squad leaders.
This removed most of the strategic aspect of the game and turned it into a COD meatgringer.
Recently played BF2 again. It's fascinating how dumbed down everything is afterwards. Strike at Karkand is still the best.

Dark Cloud.

That was Sony's answer to Zelda back in the day and they just let it go never to return. Level 5 wanted to work on it, but Sony don't have any interest.

Sony's exclusive lineup just isn't what it use to be. I haven't had a PlayStation since the PS3. What for?

I realize a lot of ppl here have all these arbitrary rules when it comes to managing franchises. Like, if franchise x isn't getting a sequel then that's mismanagement. Or if there's a remaster or rehash then that's mismanagement. Dev teams have different strategies for achieving certain goals. If its working for them, then that's not mismanagement.
