You don't have to be a hardcore leftist to see the error in the ban.

I'm more centrist with a left lean and one foot in conservativism.
I know you on this forum very well.
We butted heads in the past years ago.

You just wouldnt know.

You are very far off from being centric

Just because I'm not a Trump lover or even like him doesn't make me a far left person. I'm not even on Era. Like I said. I have a left lean with a foot in conservativism.

Traditional conservatism. Not this new breed that started with the 90s Republican party.

I don't understand why people with such negative perceptions of this country want to move here. This is my home. It's the only one I got. It's not just a place for other people to strip mine. I don't get it at all. Just because our retarded government lets every two bit asshole come here doesn't mean that it's helpful or productive.

Even people who live here treat it like a strip mine, that's all this country has become. No one wants to invest in the future, they just want to harvest what's here now. I look at all the idiots fleeing Cali and New York, coming down here with thier bullshit, gentrifying every neighborhood, and its like I know it will never be the same again. Too many takers not enough makers.

Interchangeable, migratory economic units.

You and I are lucky enough to have been born in one of the best countries, at one of the best times in all of human history. We don't feel the need to move somewhere else because there's not many places that are better. I can't speak for you, but I know I had some ancestors who were from Europe. To them, the US looked like an opportunity. They came here to try and build a better life for themselves and their children. I'm glad they did or I wouldn't be here. I can't fault anyone who feels the same today.

As for the negative attitudes, I don't think it's a stretch to imagine a lot of immigrants have anxiety about picking up and leaving their homeland, even if it is a logical strategic move. Talk to people who've been here for 10+ years and the vast majority of them have a more favorable view of the US than they did when they first got here. It's part of the normal process of accepting and adjusting to a completely new environment. It's not realistic to think they would have the same ideas and opinions before they get here and after years of experiencing life here.

Having lived on the west coast for about 40 years and then moving to the east coast I can say that wherever you go its going to have its own problems, and the grass is always going to look greener somewhere else. If I had to choose between the two you listed, long term of course, its NC.

One thing I realized though is that Its much easier to find jobs in Texas or California, jobs out here on the east coast of Maryland are kind of sparse depending on what you do, so it might take 6 months or more to find a good fit job. but once you're in you should be good as the businesses here have been through thick and thin and don't lay people off usually once you're hired, or its very hard to lay someone off, at least where I work.

Like right now I have to drive into PA for my job, but its like 20 miles away, so I have the benefit of branching into other states, you have to look at that as well, try to find a place near the border or city.

On a funnier note, the difference between PA and MD is obvious, especially the roads and how they are maintained, I thought California roads were bad. MD does a better job with their roads. Also when its snowing, PA uses a blend which doesn't seem to work as well compared to what MD uses, its actual salt they lay down. There are other trade offs for example Tobacco taxes if you smoke, or trying to get beer.

My first impression entering PA was I could not find 1 liquor store that sold beer, they had liquor stores that sold every type of spirit you can think of, even more than Bevmo in California, but not a bottle or can of beer in sight. Just gotta find the right place that sells it, here in MD you can go to any liquor store and they have the beer you want.

Can't believe I'm writing this...

The Office No GIF

There exists a small chance (Green Card Lottery) I will be moving with my family (3 kids) to the US in the next 12-18 months. We don't have a fixed place yet, probably Austin / Texas or North Carolina.

Here is my view of the US:
Dystopian state
Excellent at accumulating capital to maximise shareholders returns
Market is very flexible, people are willing to bet on idea or just "we will figure it out as we go along" (unless you are talking about technical field, best no to play with people's lives there)
Terrible place for everyone below the average in terms of education, resources, wealth, etc.
Americans are kind and friendly people but all that is surface-level
People love guns
Serial murderer or mass pedophile at every corner

Any advice someone (both Freedom People as well as Europeans that moved there) that can give me a rundown of key points I need to pay attention to or that will be a huge shock when coming from Europe?

I will try to answer your misconceptions, pre-conceived notions & some flat out lies are being assumed to a great extent as accurate.

Dystopian state

For 9/10 Democrat run city/states this is Correct. As an ex New Yorker living in Florida I can get into GREAT detail on NUMEROUS examples.

Correct. MERITOCRICY is king here. You get back what you put in and more if you are smart, hard working and plan accordingly.

Terrible place for everyone below the average in terms of education, resources, wealth, etc.

Incorrect. Depends on City/State/Area but mainly this goes back to MERITOCRICY. My Wife & I grew up in the Bronx in bad/poor neighborhoods but she has a Masters in Finance & myself a Criminal Justice Degree (was supposed to be NYPD but didn't work out). I adapted and became a small business owner in NY & Florida of which helped us not only buy our first Home but flip that after remodeling it MYSELF over 5 years to the tune of nearly a 2.5x investment return. Basically took a 10k down payment + 10k in upgrades to make that into 70k+. Then did it again (but to a lesser degree) and lastly a third time to the home we are in currently. Living the dream.

Americans are kind and friendly people but all that is surface-level

Can be true but again depending on City/State/Area. Democrat areas are MUCH more defensive, grimy & surly. Southern States get a bad rap from OLD $#@! but there is a reason for the term "Southern Hospitality"...I have lived it & experienced it and can prove it.

People love guns

Correct. Keeps TYRANNY at bay. PROTECTS the First Amendment (and all others). We can defend ourselves from threats who wish us harm. And lastly an armed society is a polite society. Kind of ties in to the "Southern Hospitality" a little too.

Serial murderer or mass pedophile at every corner

There is evil EVERYWHERE. America is very safe if you stay away from "Hot areas" (which again tend to be Democrat run). There is a lot of misinformation you have amassed that will be a bit of a shock to you if you go to Austin, Anywhere in Texas or the Carolinas. You are in for a culture shock...but in a GOOD way depending on where you end up.

I could go on. But I'll just say it this way ~

Take it from a Politically Independent, GenX, Hispanic, Ex-NY'er, living in Florida, who has had the upward mobility to have the lifestyle I NEVER WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO ACHEIVE had I stayed in NYC. You have A LOT of incorrect views but hopefully you will see the light and integrate well into OUR society. We're called the "Melting Pot" for a reason...but you have to do your part to assimilate to US. Not the other way around. Lastly study the Constitution ~ it will really help you understand what we are about. Best of Luck to you and your family. You have an unimaginable opportunity for you & yours!

I mean you can just mouseover his profile... literally also mentioned in this very thread.

It's a pet peeve of mine when someone starts talking some bullshit and starts their post with "In my country/state/city" without having it in their profile but that's not the case here.

I've lived in NYC for 6 years and safety was never an issue, I do regularly miss living there but every time I would try to devise a plan to return I stop as soon as I get to the point of healthcare. I just can't go back to a healthcare system that can bankrupt me if I get seriously sick. If the US healthcare system would be fixed I would probably move back in no time since I really liked living there.

So you are a hardcore leftist? So is your daughter?

I know you are very slow and biased so i explain your stereo type.

All these so called women that look like trailer trash riot in the name of abortion. They look ugly as fuck and no one would ever fuck them to begin with. So why the need for abortion? I can show you many videos of them. You want me too? And yes none of them have children

You remind me of the people I see on reddit but on the other side of that coin. Calm down.

Above all OP, let this thread be a lesson to you and when you step your foot on USA try not to say anything like you said here, it looks like you upset people. Especially if you move to Texas.

I always thought that if i moved to USA it would be to a house in a small town and not an apartment in a big city. Something like Baker City in Oregon.

Don't know much about Texas, but I can tell you about North Carolina. Cost of living and taxes aren't bad, but housing is very expensive in certain parts of the state. Also the coast gets beaten up by hurricanes on a regular basis. Lastly, if you move to the Raleigh area you'll be surrounded by people who moved from New York and New Jersey.
I was born in NC and still live there. I live in an area full of transplants and constantly asked where I moved from/ where am I from.
They are always shocked when I say, here.
