Checks out if they follow the same timeline as last gen where Xbox One X released the following year of PS4 Pro. Will be interesting to see if they make it more powerful just like One X was.
Never believed the 2026 launch for one second. Always thought 2027 at the earliest. Not 2025 afaik, and even 2026 seems unlikely at this point given gfx13 timelines. Imo we will see PS6/Xbox-next/Steam Deck 2 all in 2027.
The only way its a 2025 release imho is if its a PC essentially. Also if its that quick expect a half baked software solution to making a PC feel like a console. Oh and expect it to have Surface like pricing.
The longer they take the more likely they stick the landing.
I think it was James Sawyer Ford (apologizes if it wasn't you James) that said months ago that Xbox might be playing 4D Chess this next time, or something along those lines
Edit - In May
If it's just an XSX Pro in all but name I will pass,
You're almost certainly right, XSX already felt that way to the One X tbh. but the jump was huge enough to be worth it. I just don't see that being the case again next timeLikely most iterations will just be iterative "pro" versions from here on out. Diminishing returns are a real thing. Too many constraints on price, increasingly more limited performance gains per node shrink, power limitations, etc.
What's stopping you from getting a Steam Deck or Asus ROG Ally right now? Especially considering that Microsoft themselves called it Xbox in their latest ad.
It supposed to be a proper next gen, not mid-gen refresh.Checks out if they follow the same timeline as last gen where Xbox One X released the following year of PS4 Pro. Will be interesting to see if they make it more powerful just like One X was.
AI it’s a given, looking at what they do in the PC space. They even have got their own AI upscaler that is different than any other.I've gotten every Xbox aside from the OG. I'll get this so long as it is an actual generational jump, whatever that means. If it's just an XSX Pro in all but name I will pass, at least at launch. The Series X is great and doesn't really warrant a jump imo if it's just graphics they're chasing.
Honestly I hope they have some gimmicky weirdness this time. Something with AI or the cloud or some outside-the-box idea to make it more than a green PlayStation. As far behind in the market as they are, I feel like they need to take a gamble. They're not going to win marketshare with a stronger box, they've been trying and failing at that since the One X.
“Sir our hardware share is tanking, no one wants to buy our consoles”
“Release a new console as soon as possible”
What is this strategy called?
The great cycle of NeoGAF:As HeisenbergFX4 foretold.
The pro is 2TB as well.Microsoft would need to provide genuine competition then, because if y’all are to be believed, Sony is clearly not paying them any attention.
“OMG $700 Pro”. Meanwhile the XSX can run you just $100 less and all you get is an extra TB of storage.
Remember how RDR 2 sold more on PS4 than XBO, despite the One X being more powerful?Like always having the best version of a game. The Xbox one X was significantly more powerful than the ps4 pro and it was reflected across the internet. That was a net win for Xbox and the only reason they stayed competitive. MS greatest strength is its wallet. If they want to continue being in the hardware business they need to make sure they ALWAYS have the most powerful platform. That was always the easy win for MS and they screwed it up twice in a row.
Its de ja vu.Mmmm people said that about the xbox one x I don't think it sold an eighth of what the PS4 PRO did.
My point was that the newest Series X release only upgraded to a 2TB, whereas the Pro includes a 2TB.The pro is 2TB as well.
Much better specs, next gen AI, generation leap - yes. Up to 45% gain in best case lab scenario with 4-5 year old cpu - no.But its gonna be interesting when certain folks will now want a more expensive console with better specs.
Way to completely miss the point.Much better specs, next gen AI, generation leap - yes. Up to 45% gain in best case lab scenario with 4-5 year old cpu - no.
Are you an engineering expert? Have experience in developing consoles ?The only way its a 2025 release imho is if its a PC essentially. Also if its that quick expect a half baked software solution to making a PC feel like a console. Oh and expect it to have Surface like pricing.
The longer they take the more likely they stick the landing.
They can make it the size of a fridge and power it with a nuclear reactor, no one is abandoning their libraries they have built up since the PS4 or on Steam for Xbox latest failure. Are you an engineering expert? Have experience in developing consoles ?
Like why can't they like a series X design a little bit bigger with better cpu gpu and upscaling technology and use the series x software like the ps5 pro did ?
I don't think s full fledge next gen Xbox is feasible in 2025 so most probsbly a one X type of powerful mid gen upgrade that beats ps5 pro in power everywhere
That's not what I said at all. It's not about beating the PlayStation it's about staying relevant.Remember how RDR 2 sold more on PS4 than XBO, despite the One X being more powerful?
Something being reflected across the internet must mean for forum points. If MS is still looking for validation from forum users...then they truly have lost the plot.
But its gonna be interesting when certain folks will now want a more expensive console with better specs.
lol xbox 2026 why? just get a PC or Asus Rog nowI would rather the new Xbox system in late 2026 myself. But can't wait either way
What if they integrate steam ? And an actual next gen system unlike ps5 pro will u not abandon ship than if they bring out actually games with it ?They can make it the size of a fridge and power it with a nuclear reactor, no one is abandoning their libraries they have built up since the PS4 or on Steam for Xbox latest failure.
If they pull off forward compatibility and open store it'll be a golden age for gamers invested in the Xbox ecosystem digitally.
The personal calculator and portable personal calculator parody gaming platforms, without actually being them.lol xbox 2026 why? just get a PC or Asus Rog now
Probably exclusive to the new console to make the gap seem biggerwhat about the leaked new controller?
What shape would this take, if this is true? Heavy emphasis on the “if”. Refreshed “pro” Xbox, I guess, or a completely different device since Xbox is now completely aboard the “play everywhere” train.
Microsoft needs to repeat xbox360 cycle again. Dont put your games on other platform. Release AA games every 6 months. Put out an affordable console with enough storage. Shutdown gamepass as thats not doing anything for them. This is the way to attract more people to your eco system.
People with a decent pc are gonna ignore the next xbox like the did with the last one, it's the curse of having everything day one on pc.
I
Dude they did not even get permission from Valve (or didn't bother to) to use Steam deck in their big ad campaign. I have no idea where people are getting the Steam association with, how would profit sharing even work there?
I would honestly not expect Steam to be there, at best you will maybe get Itchio and Epic.
The next xbox is not going to be much faster at the same price, there is no tech for that if it's released in 2025If true, pro is not gonna be the most powerful console for long.
Unless they are talking about a useless hahandheld.
It's a SFF Xbox PCThen what the fuck is it? Give me your knowledge!! Lol
