What makes someone who makes millions of dollars a year playing a game decide "you know what'd be cool? Killing a bunch of people."

He was a fourth round pick. Arrogance? You take chances on those types of players with those picks and they've gotten plenty out of him considering where he was selected.

Definitely some arrogance there. Many, if not all, teams had taken him off of their board for character issues. It'd be different if this was the first time the Pats had taken a chance on a low character guy, but it's about the 20th time in the last 5 years. 8 5, Talib, Haynesworth, Moss, Tebow, etc. They're like the 70's Raiders at this point.

I dont think anyone expected him to be a murderer. Maybe be a drug user but not a murderer.

Teams with a strong locker room often bring in players with checkered pasts. That's a luxury that not every team is able to afford. The Patriots aren't alone in this regard. If it was 'arrogant' for the Patriots to draft Hernandez in the 4th, was it 'arrogant' for the Steelers to draft Chris Rainey in the 5th after he was arrested and charged with stalking, with their obvious assumption that he wouldn't do something like that again? No, I don't believe so. Steelers were burned by Rainey in that regard like the Patriots were with Hernandez, although obviously Hernandez' situation is incomparably worse.

Beat all my friends time trials in Double Dash and put “GAY” as the high score, which he definitely appreciated.

Tolerance. One broken record at a time.

So Greg is making the ot, then?

e - The reason the Steelers felt comfortable with Rainey was because he was raised by the Pouncey's. Didn't help.

They will switch up. The kept rolling dice because they kept winning regardless and this time they really crapped out. Too bad their plan of build around 2 TE is pretty much kaboshed...plus Gronk will forever be a question mark on top that.

LATIN, MATRIPEDICABUS, DO YOU SPEAK IT
NFL won’t act on Hernandez until someone tries to sign him:

The NFL will continue to do nothing, until it has a reason to do something.

“NFL clubs were advised today that if Aaron Hernandez enters into a player contract prior to the resolution of the charges pending against him, the contract will not be approved or take effect until Commissioner Roger Goodell holds a hearing,” the league said in a statement forwarded to PFT by NFL spokesman Greg Aiello. “The purpose of the hearing would be to determine whether Hernandez should be suspended or face other action prior to the charges being resolved.”

...

As a result, Hernandez’s status won’t be relevant unless and until he is cleared on murder charges.

Why do you say that? The Patriots immediately cut their criminal player, while the Ravens and Steelers continued to employ theirs as the faces of the franchise. There's no reason for the clowning to come to an end.

Terri Hernandez, Hernandez’s mother, was at her home in Bristol, just hours before her son was arraigned in court.

“All I can say is that he will be cleared of all these charges in the end,” she said as she walked inside her home. “Just let it play out until the end.”

Ummm...

Sounds good to me.

Greg, shut down MS Paint.
I was already working on something else, so take that!

First, I love Tebow in the list of low character guys.

Bionic is ready to explode about now. :D

Secondly, all are pretty risk free FA signings for low money outside of Ocho which was just dumb. All teams do it. I'll concede some arrogance in so far as them feeling that the "Patriot way" is going to suddenly turn all of those folks around but arrogance for selecting a problem child with a fourth rounder? Meh.

Future, your avy sucks on my dark theme gaf. Fix it bro, for the children.
Fuck the children.

Seriously though, I didn't make the avy and I'm far from a photoshop friendly person but I'll see if I can try a little later tonight. Unless one of the fine folks here want to lend a hand.

EDIT: Due to the terrible crimes committed by Hernandez, Eli has no choice but to remain shocked and appalled.

I'd do it, but I'm the one who fucked it up to begin with.

Pats did the ethical thing.

Ravens and Steelers harbored rapists and murderers for many, many years.

I think that should be reason enough to continue.

We cut ties with him unlike the Ravens and Steelers.

Oh and the Dolphins suck.

The way I see it, Pats got hella cocky for a long time. Thinking you could constantly reload with character issue players becauseThe Patriot Way would institutionalize them the right way. You guys were wrong. And the funny thing is to this day, Roethlisberger has not been convicted of rape, Ray Lewis has not been convicted of murder, but If Hernandez does, you guys will be the ones who drafted a "convicted" murderer.

For Shame. But then again, it's the Pats.

He was just a 4th round pick. Not really that big of a risk.

And how many guys acted up while on the Pats?

They didn't draft a convicted murderer. They drafted a 20 year old who subsequently made horrible decisions that ruined people's lives. When these decisions came to light, the team cut him immediately. Are you being flip or do you genuinely think the Patriots are somehow on the hook for his behavior?

So Hernandez was denied bail again, right? He's pretty much going to sit in jail until a trial comes around. Which means he's going to sit in a jail for likely a good long time.

Who is going to bother signing him?

You guys are so easy to get "Serioused". My condolences when Graverobber comes back during the season.

I wish someone would, just to see how many games Goodell gives him.

You can't defend the Pats in this thread, just roll with the punches

I do wonder how much NFL teams learn about players before they draft them though, or even what they're doing off the field. It seems like they have more resources than I realized

You just owned yourself in your own argument. Hernandez may have had a few character concerns, but a few years with the thugtriots turned him into a cold blooded killer.
