That's my entire point: it feels more like we're getting Revengeance 2 doing bad Ninja Gaiden cosplay. You can't just call something Ninja Gaiden and then say "see, we're giving you what you want!".

Also, calling it now: the Hayabusa bits from the trailer will in total be, like, one introductory chapter in the entire game.

As a NG franchise fan I am beyond grateful to get a NG4. Plus the NG2 black we got and the side scroller as well. 3 games in one year? That's a blessing.

This is why devs don't revisit franchises that didn't hit some commercial quota or success after the NG3 bomb. I'd rather get games as good as Revengance than get no new NG at all.

I hope it's like the 2004 Ninja Gaiden with light exploration. Not 2 and 3, which were considerably worse IMO and stripped away all of that and basically made it just a room to room action game.

I agree with this, I felt Bayonetta 2 & 3 did the same thing from the first Bayonetta.

I must've missed that. I'll need to rewatch the trailer, but I wasn't as excited for the new protog as the NG2B announcement.

I rewatched it, looks like Ryu calls him Raven (because he is from a rival Raven Clan) and black wings sprout a few times from the back of his Sanjaku Tenugui (face scarf). It happens as he's descending from falls and launching from walls.
Cool touch!

Also looks like Yakumo literally means eight clouds in Japanese or the term "yakumo" is considered an archaic way of referring to clouds, specifically those that overlap in multiple layers or appear thick.
Found that off Google. Interesting…as they talk about the Dark Dragon and it's rain corrupting Tokyo.
