They haven't confirmed physical compatibility yet though. Now I would think physical Switch 1 copies would be supported, but there is no guarantee until Nintendo confirms.

Switch cartridges should fit. Switch 2 cartridges obviously will be different and not fit in Switch 1.

It was the same for Gameboy and DS.

That said, if it's digital only I don't care. I sold all my cartridges and plan to go all digital on Switch 2.

No way, knock on wood. No way Nintendo would announce it like this, and then later be like 'digital only,' no way. Besides, switch users are big physical media buyers. Imagine the reaction if what you say was true.

I could see them selling a cart adapter for 79.99, but they will have a solution for physical.

I hate physical media and wish it would die but I have to admit it would be a huge mistake for them to abandon Switch 1 cartridges.

They might sell a cheaper digital only model and start moving away from physical games for Switch 2. The next console "Switch 3" might ditch physical completely.
