Nah the January Switch 2 video doesn't compare to the original 3min Switch trailer. The Switch trailer that had full blown use cases, software and served as a commercial. The one we got in January was just a tiny teaser.

The uber long live Japanese Switch presentation I hope they've learned from and never revisit that approach again. I think Reggie is on record about his distaste of that one.

With Nintendo, you know what you will get. Which is fun and escapism. No politics, no social issues, and no extracurricular bullshit.

That's what gaming used to be.

Can't wait.

That's why I've shifted to Nintendo only recently.

It's actually rekindled my love for gaming.

Edit.

I take it back. I'm ditching the big N and getting into bed with Steam.

Hell yeah, an hour long what I was hoping to see. You know at least 20-30 minutes of it will be devoted to showing off that yes, it's a fucking switch and it has mice, but the rest should be sweet sweet fucking games. I always appreciate the treehouse deep dives on the games, so that is definitely an unexpected bonus.

Are we going to see the next Evolution in Zelda tech demo
Due to leaks, it is known they will show off Zelda Breath of the wild in 60fpw and I assume 4k DLSS, but what do they show after that ? ZELDA 2027.

This could be the direct of dreams. ff7 remake included and all.

if they patch it it won't use DLSS, it will just run at 4K or near 4K.

the game currently isn't equipped with the necessary points DLSS needs to hook into.
the game uses post process AA, which means the engine probably has no way to give information like motion vectors to a temporal AA solution such as DLSS.

and it probably would be better this way. its simple AA has the advantage of having no motion smearing at all. so at 60fps at near 4K it should look super clean and smooth

Iirc the rumor is a remaster. So I assume it’d be tailored more for Switch 2 and sold for nearly full price.

still, the engine isn't equipped for DLSS support. I don't think they would go through that effort just to add DLSS, for little to no reason too.

also I doubt it will be a new version, I bet it will just be a patch.

Maybe not. I have no clue.

But surely they’ll keep working on the engine they use for Zelda and use it again for the next game, so adding support for Switch 2 features doesn’t sound unreasonable to me.

They supposedly showed the 4K version of BotW all the way back in 2023 and the game has an internal code name, so I’m guessing we’ll see a physical Switch 2 Edition of it.

sure they will update the engine over time, but why use DLSS when the game probably can easily reach 4K without it?

it's not that hard to get that game to 4K 60fps, the Switch 2 should be able to handle that.

You’re probably right. Maybe the reason they were (supposedly) able to demo it all the way back in 2023 is because it’s a fairly easy/straightforward process.

Were they launching a new console the last time you watched? 🙄
No, but they weren't launching a new console when I started watching then either. I just feel like those events started about people that worked on the games talking about it to pr people trying to put on a show.

Any other remark, or can you answer my question?

Zelda OOT remake.

It's a long shot, but it makes sense. Next year Zelda turns 40, and what better way to celebrate with a remake of the most beloved games in the series?

Get that out for 2026, then maybe a new Zelda in 2027 (although my money is on 2028)

That is a good point, but it may have gotten updates specifically to reach 4k. It is a stretch though, now knowing more.

I want to believe as well, maybe the 3ds semi remaster laid the groundwork and I donno, I do think they know the market of "realistic" (Twillight princess) graphics is there and would make it grand.
