More mature games, less 9000-year-old-dragon games please.
Mature = lightly clothed and/or violent
Guess theyre expecting Xenoblade to do well
Mature? Why so Nintendo of America can censor it?
Metroid is kind of weird in that it has this legacy status as one of the NES OG franchises that makes it sort of a face of Nintendo along with its more popular counterparts, Mario and Zelda. But at the same time it just doesn't have the sales to back that up. I know the whole point of this thread is that Nintendo is courting mature gamers, but I don't know to what degree they'd want to turn up the violence and gore for what many view as a core franchise.
Point out a third party developed-and-published game in the last 20 years that Nintendo has censored anywhere in the world.
I agree, they should make an open world role playing game or a sci-fi shooter, or even a few fighting games.
Maybe it makes third parties reluctant to work with a publisher that censors their own releases on the regular.Point out a third party developed-and-published game in the last 20 years that Nintendo has censored anywhere in the world, since the article is specifically talking about those.
Many including myself thought mature meant thought provoking themes, maybe in with the flexibility to raise the age bar up, not specifically wanting sexy tease games and such. I'm not surprised about the latter, but it's always welcome to see the former.

The Switch is actually selling and isn't abandon by its creator. The Switch is everything the Vita wished it was and the stench of failure doesn't follow the Switch around. No it's not.
I think if Nintendo wants to shed its finally friendly only image they will need to develope a Mature rated ip of their own and show it sells to better attract 3rd party Mature titles.
I doubt it since nintendo has actively encouraged and supported 3rd parties sometimes when it comes to mature content
Aside from reduced portability, battery life, and Nintendo's backwards account system...

What? How? Makes no sense to me. Most of the "censorship" cry is exaggerated too, like people complaining we can't see a plot about sexual conversion therapy in a Fire Emblem game.
Let's also pretend they're trying to stop things like this with the Switch, with Takahashi stating that the japanese studios work with NoA and NoE to offer the same product to all regions now.
I can fit my switch in my pants pocket, battery life has always depended on the game and most games on the switch right now arent battery munchers, nintendo account is just like every other account right now....
When has mature games not mean M rating?
#FE was a first party published gameHopefully, but the #FE debacle didn't set what I'd call a good precedent.
I doubt I could bring a Switch to work as easily as I could a Vita. But I guess we'll see whenever NMH3 comes out.

I doubt that audience is leaving the Vita behind anytime soon. It's clear that they want Vita's audience and games, which really have nowhere else to go. When are they releasing the first Switch otome games?
I cant tell if this response was Sarcastic. Nintendo has all of these which came out or coming this year...?? Xenoblade, Splatoon and Pokken...Kinda figured this was happening, Nintendo wants in on the traditional gamer again.

Some people really desperate to shit on Nintendo, huh? Even going so far as to try to redefine widely-accepted and understood industry terms.
Oh, you mean like how Nintendo fams used to shit on the Vita and it's games?
Oh, you mean like how Nintendo fams used to shit on the Vita and it's games? But now they want their new machine to be a Vita? They used to call the games "creepy" and "cringeworthy" but now can't wait for them to be on the Switch. Hypocrites!

they need a big, m rated, western audience oriented exclusive shooter to prove to third parties that the audience exists
grand theft auto v is about to become the highest selling video game of all time. it's basically the Thriller of video games: if you own a video game console, you own grand theft auto. it's time we stop acting like having a game like gta hurts nintendo in any way. the market has spoken: those are they games they want.
