Path of Exile 2 - THE Game to Save Gaming

Bummer. Don't games like Overwatch, Rocket League and Fortnite have this functionality?
I think you have to be a big enough game to force Sony to the bargaining table. For example Genshin has this restriction, but Zenless Zone Zero doesn't presumably because Mihoyo games are so big now they have the leverage to alter the terms in their favor.

Idk, I don't play online games much but I heard PoE didn't require PS+ so I was going to give it a go, then I heard Rax mention something about Sony not playing nice so I googled to see what he was talking about. Maybe they allow it but charge a fee, and GGG didn't want to pay? Beats me.

Probably correct.

Kind of strange considering the recent previews with @yosp but the left hand doesn't always know what the right hand is doing.

So, I have the Pro, so I was going to also purchase for PS but any transaction(mtx) you buy on Steam/GGG won't be usable on PSN or vice versa. That SUCKS. Guess I will go with Xbox.

"Unfortunately, any purchases made on PlayStation platforms cannot be used on other platforms, and purchases made on other platforms cannot be used on PlayStation platforms. Note that these purchases can still be on the same sub-account, but the microtransactions will be marked as unavailable when viewing them in your stash."

Thats so lame. Then Xbox and Pc it is...

I played the original Diablo demo (which I really liked, but was a broke kid and ended up never getting the game). Then uhhh... played just a little bit of Torchlight and Titan Quest. Wasn't super impressed with either one of those.

But, I'm getting kind of annoyed with Destiny 2 and the shitty build-crafting it has... that is most of the text descriptions are inaccurate, they don't give you actual numbers for buffs and the like, and then stuff is constantly tweaked and changed so there's really no point in working on a build instead of just outsourcing it to some YouTubers who do all the testing and figure out what is and isn't broken. Warframe seemed way better in that regard but not sure I want to put significant time into another looter shooter. And I find TPP kind of obnoxious for the actual shooting bit.

So.. is PoE2 right for me? Is the endgame solo or do you need teammates? If you do need teammates is there matchmaking, and is that adequate?

I just watched an interview with a developer who said their game design philosophy is all content in the game should be able to be completed as a solo player. Not sure if there is matchmaking or not. In early access, the campaign is said to last about 25 hours before you hit new game plus, and there are six character classes. I'd wait for reviews, and try the game after that if it sounds fun.

-Campaign about 35-40 hours
-"Dark Souls of ARGPs" another reviewer thought the same thing
-No difficulty options
-No easy game
-Lots of challenging boss fights
-Feels so rewarding to beat them
-Dark Souls and Elden Ring feeling
-Maps are astronomically large (1 h from side to side)
-Maps feel a little bit empty in terms of events
-Scratched the tiniest surface of the game after 40 hours
-Great sense of discovery (mechanics, builds and lore)
-Feels like 3 games into one -Almost limitless combinations of builds
-Lot easier to respec your skills -50-100 changes was no problem
-Outstanding dark theme art direction
-Clearly inspired by Diablo 2
-Details on skill effects and boss designs are the best in the industry in the ARPG genre
-Blown away by the amount of detail
-Most dynamic combat in an ARPG
-Switch to controller was a revelation
-Feels like a game that was designed for controller first
-Plays even better than Diablo 4 with a controller
-Potential to be the alltime king of the genre
-Some bugs and crashes occurred
-Strong believe that the developers will join the annals of greatness alongside Larian Studios and FromSoftware

Thats a point I'm not sure about. I usually play my ARpgs with M&K but this one i might play with controller.

In the FAQ on their website, they say that early access is given to people who have spent at least 480$ on POE1.

So you didn't get an early access for free, you got it by buying at least 480$ of products on their 1st game.
If that's the case we're talking whale management not generosity.
Poe is a game from 2013, do you really think that spending 480$ during 10 year spam is whaling?

Im 100% playing on controller
Fextralife said in his Preview, it was a revelation once he switched to controller and that the game was designed with Controller in mind.
Edit: I see you've mentioned it in your Post, my bad.
But yeah i'm gonna play it on controller then.

They obviously couldn't come to an agreement or something because this functionality should definitely work. I played Sea of Thieves on PC and then bought it again on PS5 to play with my daughter and all my cosmetics were straight away available on the PS5. Same goes for Valorant. GGG and Sony need to work harder and get it working as it's completely unfair that one system is excluded.

Hell yeah! I knew it appeared to be inspired by Dark Souls. Rogers is a genius to marry both of these genres. D2 plus Dark Souls. That's the dream game I wanted Blizzard to make. When I heard that Project Fenris, which was supposed to be Blizzard's Dark Souls Diablo game was canceled, I was bummed. GGG is getting it done! After these previews my hopes of playing at launch have diminished greatly lol. Queues for days.

Well that makes me really not give a damn about the PS5 version. Man Sony is really good at making PSN the worst digital store right now.

Not Sony's fault. I played countless games that transfer items and even premium currency between platforms. Something else must have happened.

Some fault must lie with Sony as if it was just up to GGG then the functionality would be in place. They obviously couldn't agree on something or other. GGG needs to step up and push harder and make it happen.

It's a contractual requirement by Sony, iirc during the Epic vs Apple case there were leaked docs that show Sony tries to set terms where if mtx spending differs from platform activity (i.e. if the playerbase spends 90% of the time on Playstation but buys only 50% of mtx on Playstation) then the publishers have to pay some sort of fee or royalty.

My problem with any ARPG these days is that the thing they are charging extra for (cool looking gear) is the only thing I really don’t want them to charge for. Finding super rare loot in an ARPG is the reward for thousands of hours of grinding. Is there any studio out there working on a game that does not charge mtx for cosmetics?

See, thats something i could never do, grinding for thousands of hours. I'm not a professional streamer or player, i just wanna play my games and not grind endlessly.

So basically GGG are being cheap then.

Like I said, you probably have to have a certain level of bargaining power to even get Sony to budge on those terms. PoE 1 has a solid following but it's mainly a PC game. Sony ain't know nothin' bout that.
will be one of the few times its better to play on Xbox as a console choice regardless.

And if they dont know about POE2…they going to find out.
