Peter Molyneux rules and I’m tired of pretending he doesn’t

I used to love Black and White. Is it available on any modern storefronts?

You should check this out, if you find the game again. It's pretty good (I still have my OG discs)).

Miyamoto is still a legend despite Wii Music.

Romero is still a legend despite Daikatana.

It's the same logic.

Dungeon Keeper is my favorite PC game of all time.

Fable: The Lost Chapters and Fable II are more than good. They are great! Nothing else like them with such a high level of quality.

Lying Season 4 GIF by Curb Your Enthusiasm

I played Fable during the 360 years after hearing good things. I was blown away with how bad it was. Tiny zones, ugly art, lame combat and exploration and non-stop cringe fart jokes.

It took me ten years to get to the point to try Fable 2. It was, amazingly, worse. I pretty much never give up on a game I start, so I pushed myself through it, but it was painful.

Curious, I looked up info on 3 and see it's even worse? I love RPGs, but these games are just terrible. How they ever had any following amazes me.

Those 7 games right there in a vacuum put him in an elite class of game designers. Is his track record flawless? No. But that’s because he was so willing to get weird and make experimental projects. Black and White is nothing like Dungeon Keeper is nothing like Fable.

Did he exaggerate and overpromise? Yes. Did he put out some borderline scam games after his career flamed out? Yes. But he was a real ideas guy.
Yes i loved every one of his games up to and including Fable 2!

Dungeon Keeper 2, Popolous 2, Syndicate and Black and white were probably my favorites

Anyway. I am 100% willing to give him another chance with Masters of Albion (many from his old bullfrog team are on board again it seems). One of my most anticipated games

I enjoyed the Fable series, so credit to him for that. I enjoyed his persona, although he became hard to trust after a while, because of his tendency to over-hype things.

At one time he was right up there, i loved Dungeon Keeper 1 and 2, but then his later games wern't as good by the mid to late 2000's, and that affected his reputation, he promised much more than he delivered with them.

Miyamoto didnt overpromise with Wii Music. It's just a bad game.

Molyneux promised bullshit and then went on to make NFT scams and when that didnt work he reskined his con to "Masters of Albion"

You can't compare Miyamoto to Molyneux, that's extremely disingenuous.

Zero fart jokes in my playthroughs. Magic is amazing. Speed blitzing with a big hammer is cathartic. Narrative and sound design are unrivaled in genre. Romanticized fantasy landscapes are a feast for the eyes. Fable 2 is comparatively huge, has guns to play with, and tons to find and do in its landscapes and towns. What kind of RPGs you playing?

Populous 2 was fun for a few hours, but nowhere near as good as magazines made it out to be at the time - same with Syndicate.

He was always great at getting the journos on side - always giving a ton of content for preview. I guess it doesn’t work now, as if the game is shit word spreads fast.

I completely agree. I played all 3 and I completely despise the franchise.

That whole system of how you interact with npcs with stupid emotes is so fucking stupid.

It is 100% optional outside of STAY and FOLLOW commands. The meaningful interactions are usually in dialogue or choosing whether to destroy/give up something.

That is like complaining that San Andreas has dildos as a weapon/gift when you are at no point obliged to interact with them.

I mean I have a lot more things about the games that I dislike, I was just singling that part of it out.

Like for example, the entire menu system in 3 is by far the most stupid thing I've ever seen implemented in a video game. Just because something is "unique" doesn't make it good.

The combat is also braindead with a completely overpowered magic system that trivializes every encounter.

Beating the final boss in a single press quicktime event is also laughably bad.

The third person RPG world sim/god game that Fable was supposed to be wasn't even close to that but that was the Xbox and I don't any of the Fable games were huge budget games for their stated ambition. I'd love to see another go at the OG Fable dream from an experienced team with 20+ years better technology and the budget to back it. Oblivion and radiant AI gave me the same feeling of future hope for major expansion of world simulation that the OG Fable hype gave me

He had 1 or 2 good hits then his mouth turned him into an over promising and under delivering con man. Just because he smiles and laughs a lot, doesn't make his lies anymore endearing.

Didn't like the Fable games at all either, but to each their own.

You can add Powermonger to your list. Most people here probably didn't play it but that was another 10/10 on the Amiga in 1990.

I never played Fable though. Near as I can tell, most people only complain about him because of that.

Peter Molyneux would've been the only one who could've sold gamers on the idea of Kinect 2.0 for the Xbox One, and so one could argue that his exit from Microsoft in 2012 marked the beginning of the demise of the Xbox brand.

Fable 3 is a weak entry but Fable 2's finale is fitting given the context. The issue is that you expected it to be something preconceived.

Out of curiosity why would you pretend? You should like what you want like.

As for me I never played any of his games because they just don't appeal to me.

I remember trying to get into fable 2 and just falling asleep every time within minutes of starting the game.

Recently got my hands on a copy again and I'm still falling asleep within minutes.

He and Sid Meier are on the Non Japanese Mount Rushmore of gaming creators/designers. They did alot for the micro computers.. It was a simpler time. I know multi-player games were around before, but Populous I and 2 were such an amazing experience. Even Theme Park was good stuff too!

Not quite as prolific, but I also hold Richard Garriot in high esteem despite him falling off the deep end these days. Thank you for Ultima.
