All I can say is the price seems right for what is basically a PS controller with a screen glued on, but why would you ever buy this if you aren't already so locked into the PS ecosystem?

1) You need a PS5 In order for the thing to function.
2) No cloud gaming support.
3) It only connects to WiFi.

Well it's a PS5 accesory so obviously you need a PS5. Just a dualsense cost $79, now add a 8" fullhd display, a big battery, an arm chip and wifi.

The cloud gaming would be great but this device is more like a second portable display with a controller integrated, and likely to be used near a router.

It would be the same as your current setup I would think, since there's nothing new added to the Portal. It's just a WiFi streaming the device with a Link setup for the audio only.

Never saw the appeal to remote play. Tried it on Vita, and I can currently do it through my phone and TV.
It just bugs me that my hardware is on and running while I’m playing.

Cloud gaming is another story. That I’d be more accepting of.

That IGN review is really wrong about price comparison regarding the Switch, yes PS Portal is less expensive but you have to buy a PS5 in order for it to even function.

So you have to compare the Switch to the PS Portal + PS5 combo and not only the Portal...

We are near 650€ total for nothing really ground breaking... No streaming PS Plus possibility is a deal breaker to me.

The PS Portal is NOT for non-PS5 gamers. It's literally ONLY for people that already have a PS5. How can some of yall not understand this?

Cloud gaming is a software thing, they can add it later if they want to...

The only thing that matters to me is that the experience isn’t compromised by input lag like every other streaming setup is (barring the Wii U). Previews sound positive in this regard. In for one.

Said it looked like it was worth $150 because the 3rd party ones are $100. Add a $50 Sony first party premium and we are at $200.

This isnt a success/fail sort of item. You either find use and value for it or you dont need it at all.

I love my pulse 3d. I cannot wait to get elite ! Love the design.

And the Playstation Portla is a good idea. PS5 quality games in you hand, all around your home. Same saves and everything. Why play shitty quality 720p30fps games while you can play 1080p60 full ps5 quality. Just in your home. Not that many of you take portables out of the home.

That said - feels a bit lifeless for a reveal. Where is psp magic gone ?!

Definitely in for the Explore earbuds, sometimes I need headphones with a speaker and can't stand headphone hair. My fingers are crossed on the sound quality, I'm hoping it's at least at the level of the Pulse but hoping for better!

A 64gb refurbished steam deck is around $300 and can stream your ps5 (even premium probably), play games natively and the thumbsticks can be replaced with a hall effect sensor kit!

About the price... Well it is a bad price but that's not the worst.

- No bluetooth for headphones EVEN THE OFFICIAL 299€ INZONE HEADPHONES ? WAT?
- No cloud gaming ? Even they just announced "we will have a revolutionary cloud blabla with this and that"? Just remote play with your PS5 turned off in your phone ?
- So it won't work on hostel wifi and airports wifi...

So basically it'll work in your home or the home of your friends, family...

I get 300 down on my home Internet and the PS5 says my internet's too slow to stream games, won't even try to launch games, where as I stream Gamepass games perfectly with the occasional minor hitch on Series X and PC. I'm in Maine, when I lived in WA PSPlus streaming would actually launch but it wasn't great.

I'm glad it works well for you, but for many people, myself included, it's a really subpar service. I haven't tried it on PC though, I should do that before passing too much judgement.

Try it again. First time I tried the Remote Play it was a pile of crap.
