This was not mentioned in the English blog post for some reason?
Coming in the November 21st update (which may as well be today for a lot of people right now).

So that huge update was about that I assume(outside of the cars). I found it strange at first that I had an update that I couldn't actually install lol. First time i've seen that personally.

Is that why it's 32gb? What would need that large of a change to be added to Pro?
Has me confused also. The Callisto Protocol had a 21gb patch too, maybe it's normal. Hope it means more than ray-traced reflections (even though I'm hyped for them)

So PSSR can be toggled but is forced for 8k mode.
Looks as though the 4k native can be used with RT. Not sure what the downside is?? Edit. Apparently if you use native 4k. interior view wont use RT. Not a huge loss if you ask me.

I get the impression car lod has improved. Not seeing exhausts and wings change in front of me.
Reflection resolution has improved.. using bonnet cam.

Havent experienced any frame drops during actual racing, with wet weather 20x cars.

8k mode has no down sampling option like Callisto Protocol?

Seriously, what a waste of resource to implement this mode. You not only require an 8k tv but a specific sony model one.

The game is already native 4k, borderline 120 fps on base PS5. I'm guessing they could activate RT in game now too but I never felt it was a deal breaker for this game.

I think the reason PD didn't do so is because even in rt replays the fps crashes during raining weather when you are starting a race from 20th pos. They probably couldn't optimise that and shelved rt in base ps5.

That is because of replay camera angles, zoom, DoF and different LOD menagement - all that combined it uses a lot more GPU power.
In normal gameplay conditions with addition of lowering native resolution (from 4K to 1440p) I'm sure they could give us in race RT at 50-60fps.
At this point it is marketing decission to push the PS5 Pro.

You can still run the native 4k with RT reflections on cars. Not interior.
Other than 8k mode.. not really sure what the pssr is useful for.

I meant the base PS5, that they could also add RT during race, just with lowered resolution to something like 1440p.

Doubt so. RT is extremely demanding for consoles. GT7 already has a 1440p mode I think and despite that, lacks an in-game RT option. The frame rate probably dipped way below 60 fps during stressful scenarios even with lowered resolution. PD usually tests these things out well.

Yeah I was hoping there was going to be a non-RT “resolution mode” @ 60 fps that improved shadows and aliasing

RT mode looks great but it can be subtle and I’m wondering if the image could be crisper without it

Weird that the only option is RT or Framerate but not resolution

Oh? Does toggling PSSR off reduce the Framerate to 60 fps but increase the IQ?

I only have a 60Hz display so pssr on with 100 fps does nothing for me (other than PSVR2)

Thats what the Resolution mode is for. Its basically 4k with all the goodies on. Performance mode shouldn't be for extra details.. its purpose is to not drop frames.
Switch PSSR off and itll run 4k.

Its seems to have improved visuals, lod.

Just missed ya post. It seemingly does just that. Looks clean with pssr off. Im only running a 60hz tv too atm because were travelling for work.

Looks great 😃

Thanks, I think its weird that PSSR defaults to on if you don’t have a 120hz display

I wonder why they didn’t allow for PSSR but with a 60 fps target and higher resolution? Maybe because it’s already native 4k?

But then again they could go 4k to 8K then super sample down again for extra crispness

4K with PSSR.
RT on is ~100 FPS.
RT off is 120 FPS.
Why the fuck are they using an upscaling algorithm to reach 4k when the game is already NATIVE 4K on base PS5? I have no doubts this will present with more artifacts than GT7 on base PS5. I get with RT enabled because it's probably too much for native 4K and RT activated at once. Even then, PSSR is also a performance hog too so by then better to just let the game run native 1440p and let the TV do its normal upscaling.

I honestly have no idea what PSSR serves in GT7 atm. Other than the 8k mode needing it. Ive seen no drawbacks. It runs great and looks great. Drops a fps when starting a race but thats all ive found. Controlling the car with full grid in rain holds firm.. at least from what ive tried so far

Edit, i also haven't tested pssr out very much. It could be better than the 4k mode?

It’s used to increase resolution and Framerate up to 100-120 fps

PSSR off is native 4k but probably only 60fps

It's for 120 FPS.

Let's see those artifacts then

It runs at 55-60fps at 4k with TAA on the base PS5. It runs at 80-100fps at 4K without TAA on the base PS5. I'm pretty sure it would run base RT reflections (from replay mode, not the full scene RT reflections with RTAO from Photo Mode) at 1440p and about 50-60fps.

Uh yeah DF talked about PSSR costing 2ms per frame, so without it performance will be better in some cases depending on implementation.

It's interesting that one of the modes is 120 FPS locked with PSSR. That would mean that the frame time budget is ~8ms, so 25% of render time is going to PSSR (if the 2ms number is true).

Holy shit!

I think it has RT on PSVR 2 on PS5 Pro.

It won't connect online so my options of cars is limited, but on the Xbow there is a digital dash and I can see my head looking at it. I went in really close and your head reflects in real time and it's super crisp. Maybe it's the increase in clarity, that I've never noticed before. It may just be some amazingly well done SSR, but I don't think so. It's late and I'm going to bed, but I'll check again with some different cars that have a bigger digital dash that reflects a bigger space. Someone else with PSVR 2 try it out and let me know.

Great update btw.

I gotta check that out.
