PS5 Pro support for Gran Turismo 7 coming today

Good update. Ray tracing, as in 90% of games, is a very subtle effect. In GT7, I mostly notice it in the replays, which now run at 60fps! And in the low-ground camera, when you get close to cars and can see yourself reflected in their bodywork, which is really cool but not transformative. In my opinion, ray tracing still hasn’t taken off, too much computational cost for what it adds.

As for PSSR, it’s pretty good. The image is very sharp and clean, but there’s definitely a bit more aliasing and flickering in distant elements. Nothing serious, and personally, I’ll play with PSSR enabled, but it’s noticeable.

I just tested it and am very very disappointed with this Pro update. First of all RT mode with pssr has straight up bad image quality. Secondly, just like Forza the rt reflections are hard to spot during a race.

There's an 8k mode, but I think you need a 120hz TV for it.

So I'm left playing the game in the previous mode (taa?) which looks identical to base ps5 ...they should've at least added some lod improvements to that

Fairly sure lod has improved.

Holy shit!

I think it has RT on PSVR 2 on PS5 Pro.

It won't connect online so my options of cars is limited, but on the Xbow there is a digital dash and I can see my head looking at it. I went in really close and your head reflects in real time and it's super crisp. Maybe it's the increase in clarity, that I've never noticed before. It may just be some amazingly well done SSR, but I don't think so. It's late and I'm going to bed, but I'll check again with some different cars that have a bigger digital dash that reflects a bigger space. Someone else with PSVR 2 try it out and let me know.

Great update btw.
That would be silly given that 90fps+ is far far far more valuable.

i find it funny that people dont notice the ray-tracing during the races but focus on the PSSR "artifacts"

The plan is .. find the faults no matter how miniscule they are then blow it to heaven as end of the world issue.. plus ignore everything

It has been like this even with DF .. evey hour they publish a video slice about bad PRO ports ignoring or minimizing all impressive ports that works against their narrative.

Because it's obvious that it lowers IQ, unless you're blind or playing on a CRT... I completely understand someone who prefers to give up Ray tracing to have less flickering and aliasing. PSSR isn't magic, it's a good rescaler and has a future, but it's not magic.

You ever been in a bad relationship and dragged it on? Perhaps it's time to move on then pro seems to not be for you

No! I love to see his misery posts. They fuel me. I love knowing he’s going through so much pain.

Nobody, but you are surprised that we notice the defects of PSSR more than the ray tracing. When you are playing, the drop in IQ due to the use of PSSR is more noticeable than the effects of ray tracing, even if it seems strange to you. For me it is very obvious, it is not something that is horrible, but accustomed to the very clean image that GT7 offers, it is very noticeable. I don't see anything strange in people commenting on this.

Cockpit view appears brighter to me with pssr on than with off. I really doubt they added rtgi, but perhaps the RT reflections do contribute a bit in whatever GI the game already uses. Nothing major, just thought it was interesting assuming it's not placebo.

ray-tracing with mild PSSR artifacts suits me just fine.

While not disappointed, I agree that PSSR has room to improve in the RT front, mainly in 'chrome-like' parts (it reminds me a lot of DLSS 1.0 'aura'). Given the 'live' nature of GT7, I am sure they will keep updating PSSR.
I guess you don't have a 120hz VRR TV/monitor? It makes the game a lot better, with even replays going up to 120hz with RT, and no frame drops - which were very rare but did occur in base PS5

Can you imagine being so cheap that your tv doesn't support 120hz and then complaining that you're not getting much of a boost here?

I wonder what cheap walmart tv he is using.

As suspected, the Pro enhancement release updates will vary by dev.

Anyone try this with PSVR2? I'm not a big racing guy, but wouldn't mind diving in to check this out.

Really hard to spot the difference. Seems like the biggest upgrade is in VR. This is a game that already does native 4K 60+ fps on base PS5 so the room for improvement isn't exactly large if you're not overhauling your entire lighting system. Which of course they don't do for a mere Pro update. It only highlights how exceptionally presented the game is on a base PS5. This is how I wanted all current gen games to look and play.

New reprojection alogrith for ps5pro remove ghosting visible especialy when you overtake cars or in vr replays but ufnortunetly introduce artifacts (I notice shimering on Bac Mono front also double hud for new w196 car)

It's a lot better now, and it was already awesome before. Clearer and I believe LoDs are better. Didn't test a lot, though, only one Porsche race at Laguna Seca.
edit: downside is what sncvsrtoip sncvsrtoip noted... PSSR is having a hard time with RT mainly in shiny, chrome-like surfaces I think.

That's replay though. Not actual gameplay. And I personally prefer the third person camera and the differences there are extremely hard to spot in gameplay. The improvements made on the actual tracks, vegetation and other cars are best described as modest.
Once again I refer people to Cerngod's presentation. They turned the 30fps replay mode to gameplay at 60fps. This is what the PS5 Pro was designed to do.

If this isn't what people wanted or expected then they werren't paying attention.
