What isn't true? They wanted to destroy physical, partially for this reason yes, but it wasn't because they cared about how much GameStop was offering to you. There's this idiotic debate that you shouldn't be allowed to sell or trade games and their solution is digital content.
People on GAF during the PS3/360 era were arguing that we shouldn't be allowed to sell games because the devs don't get paid again.

There were still physical games, but they were tied to the first console they were used on. You could then transfer the license to someone else yourself. That killed GameStop entirely. The license transfer also applied to digital games. The solution allowed people to sell and trade digital and physical games.

Everything seems to be working again in Germany. I can play games online and offline and also use the Portal without any problems.

I just tried to play Tales of Graces F Remastered and I can’t. That does not need authentication or internet. Yes my console is primary, and yes I’ve always been able to play my single player digital games with the network was down.

Demo was posted early. Sony deleted it from people's PS5's even if they were "offline" and while they were playing it.

Some people have very limited time to enjoy their hobbies, in addition to that this is a paid for service. The 'up' time should be 99.9x% 15 hours down time is not acceptable. This doesn't really affect me, but I'm sure there are lots of people out there whose plans for today are shot since the service isn't up and running.
