I’m here as a PC gamer pleasantly surprised that literally everything I’m interested in is on Steam day 1. Except Saros but I’m okay with that I need a reason to power on the Pro I spent too much money on.

I don’t really understand how one can walk away from this showing without being excited for anything.

Onimusha first gameplay, The Midnight Walk looks incredible, Directive 8020 looks stunning, Split Fiction continues to look great, Saros reveal was hype as fuck, etc.. etc..

And the focus was on largely single player games! Not gaas!

I thought it was very solid.

i think most of gaf was hoping for a lot of sony only stuff the rest of us just wanted kick ass games that we get too play soon.

Thing is, with Xbox it was about being able to turn the situation around, as Xbox has been going downhill ever since the second half of X360.

Playstation is doing the exact opposite of going downhill.

Edit: Just to go into why I didn't like it in more detail. It was mostly dark souls and Stella blade looking games. Same old shit, fast paced devil may cry combat kinda stuff. For me I just can't stand them kind of games. Currently playing KCD2 and loving it but it's obvs way slower paced. I always watch the events with my younger son lately and it's just always pretty disappointing, the biggest by far being this one. Though I see your point that it's probably trolls who score it bad mostly.

I think like it was posted above, the format is getting stale and just doesn't work anymore, a bunch of trailers slapped together with minor introductions for some games is not gonna add to the hype, if it had more production value built to it, like idk make individual intros for every game could be more attractive, but then again, they cut corners with this style of showing and it shows

Not asking Sony E32015 here, but more than just "here, look, some trailers one after the other with the ps buttons doing the transitions to each one, be happy we added that bitch"

That's a perfectly reasonable explanation as to why you did not like it. Which is why I said "likely". Everyone has opinions and yours seem to be valid.

Yeah which is why I only gave it a C+, Tides of Goodness was the only actual thing that got me hyped since it's a true legit new game. The others are old news like you said. Now if it was Stellar Blade 2 instead of DLC than I'll definitely be a lot more hyped but that'll still take at least 2 years for it to finish.

I'll like Sony to pump out a Ratchet and Clank game with the cliffhanger from Rift Apart. Maybe a Infamous 4.

It’s no surprise that I’ve used the last year to catch up on retro games and platforms I never got to try back in the day, and the difference in just pure “fun” with those games compared to what we’re getting now is just insane.

I put 10 hours into Sega Rally on Saturn a couple weeks ago. That’s a game that has literally THREE total tracks, and yet it was more fun than I’ve had in most modern racing games.

I recently played through Astro Boy (not Astro Bot) on GBA, an action side scroller by Treasure, and it was just so much fun.

Hell, I got a chance to play through the original Super Monkey Ball on arcade (with the banana joystick and everything) and had a fucking blast. It was challenging, rewarding, and straight to the point. Fun prioritized over everything else.

To me, that’s what we’re missing today. And I’m not saying we shouldn’t have any big budget, cinematic games; we just shouldn’t try to shoehorn every single AAA release that kind of category.

I haven’t played Onimusha (PS2), but I got curious about it after seeing @Kacho post in the 52 Games thread, and it looks awesome. So I’m hoping the new game adheres to some of those classic principles, at least. But I wouldn’t be surprised if it ended up being a bloated “AAA” garbage experience, instead of the 6-hour, focused arcade-action experience it has roots in.

Yep. There is a bit too much "intellectualism" in the industry (especially in the west) today. The hubris has seemed to overtake just the roots of gaming; fun. They are less talented Hollywood writers now, who are all hell bent on creating feels - which is absolutely fine, but in doses. A diverse gaming selection will always be superior, and it just doesn't seem like we get that much anymore. It's gritty, TPS, here's a story meant to elevate your feelings - oh and also, here is some remasters.

IDK. It's a weird thing for me. Asian markets still bringing some fresh air, even with reinventing old titles, but it's hard to overlook the general trend of these line-ups and get excited about much in them when so much of it feels "off" if you look at any game not from Asia.

I can't make a good argument against PC at this point. If it's not the exclusive games, there's no comparison.

This is sadly me. For so long I have defended console gaming and I have no desire to go PC - but I can't justify it anymore. Sony being on top, but not maintaining innovation has been giving me *entering ps3 era vibes* again. They have become cocky, hired and elevated awful leadership, abandoned series that gave them notoriety and individuality (SOCOM, KZ, J&D, Warhawk/ Starhawk, PRTR) just to name a very few. They have been too scared to direct their studios to steer into fun, and instead ignored it for trends.

And now, for some reason, they have given up exclusivity almost across the board. Such an odd thing to do when you are on top. XBOX makes sense - they are flailing in a deep, deep ocean. But Sony - Sony is on the YACHT. They didn't and don't need to sell their games elsewhere, how does it give me any incentive to buy a console? A console that always comes with less memory than will be needed, less power than capable on a PC, a pay to play online ecosystem that has now gotten ridiculously high priced, and now without many games that I can only play on it?

I don't think I will go to PC, but here in my 30s, I think gaming is actually starting to pass me by. I don't get hyped for much, I go on long breaks without playing (and frankly, don't usually miss it). I have logged more hours this year in The Finals than any first party game because *gasp* who knew fun destructible environment FPS would still be appealing these days. IDK, might just be time for me to kind of give it up soon. I am honestly quite ok with it.

In a perfect world for me, Sony would announce a Bloodborne remaster and a sequel, a new Socom game, a Legend of Dragon Remake and Nioh 3.

But since I am not delusional, I would be happy with the release date announcement of the two Sony games I am most interested in this year.

Which they didn't, instead they showed a lot of stuff that I am not interested or already knew about.


For me that was bad show.


There's no formula for a perfect A rank show, since everybody thinks different. Many are extremely hyped for the new Housemarque game, which did nothing for me, since I don't like their games.

Honestly the worst one I’ve ever seen. Aside from Returnal 2 (which is 2026), I wasn’t interested in a damn thing. F tier.

No interest in new Shinobi, new Onimusha, or new Sonic Racing? I was also pretty interested in some of the original IPs that debuted such as Tides of Annihilation and Hell Is Us. But to each their own.

It was great to see some diversity in the genres on display for maybe the first time this gen. It gives me hope that Sony will actually start putting out more content that isn't just third-person cinematic action adventure games.

Last Keighley was an "A" show, at least judging by the new announcements and ignoring the award cringe. This Sony show was like a soft-update on a couple of Keighley things, gaming discourse would have been the same this week if it never happened. Somehow a Ninja Gaiden comeback had a bigger impact than anything in a Sony conference.

But okay, the Keighley awards were a multiplat show. So for turning this SoP into an "A" without going too much into fantasy...

Hope Tides of Annihilation ends up being very good and successful. It's the most viewed game on the show in both the IGN and Playstation Channel. Best game there too so it was expected to be the most viewed game.
