Fresh Prince Reaction GIF by MOODMAN

if you're comfortable in your "opinion" you'd answer my question

What makes the Microsoft conference an "A", and the State of Play so terrible? Objectively it's comical to even make such a claim, in my view, just looking at the list of games at both. And I rated the MS direct the same score you did. It was a good showing of around 4 games, with two of them that I'm highly interested in and the others I'm not as high on yet but can see why others may like them.

Some "cool" games, but yeah, I guess I rate it a little higher than I normally would because the whole time I was on high copium awaiting Bloodborne like a stupid idiot.

A bit slow at times but still good.

Shinobi, awesome.

Darwin’s Paradox, the squid game, awesome.

Hell is Us, already shown but still awesome.

Mindseye, awesome.

China can clearly make games now too, Lost Soul Aside, Tides of Annihilation, awesome.

Saros/Returnal 2, awesome.

B

But I bought a Pro last year, would be nice to have a reason to power it on, Saros is a 2026 game and everything else is on PC.

With so many voting F, what are you playing when nothing of interest was shown here? For real, I want to hear it, what are you playing? Start listing games

C+

Stellar Blade DLC and PC version
Tides of Annihilation
Metal Gear 3 Remake

Was hoping for GTA VI and Resident Evil stuff or Elder Scrolls VI.

Hell Is Us looks interesting.
Onimusha is going to be awesome.

But yea, no big new titles. Except for the Housemarque reveal, but it was just a logo.

Soros might be good, but no gameplay.

Abiotic Factor might be awesome.

Outside of those two, all vaporware.

Vaporware is funny, I thought a lot of what was shown actually did look like cheap filler content, especially some of those JRPG's. I'm sure they'll hit all the platforms though, maybe they'll be good.

Holy shit this generation is actually cooked.
always used to worry eventually I'd grow out of or get too old to play games, either because I couldn't keep up, my eyes/hands didn't work anymore or whatever

turns out games are just going to outgrow me

Really?

I thought most games are catering to middle-aged men stuck in nostalgia and/or who are Japan focused.🤷🏾‍♂️

I have a hard time thinking if any game I am looking forward to out of that show. Not into Returnal gameplay so for the fans that might be the only one there.

Terrible overall I would say.

C some things were nice, but most weren’t anything interesting and/or new announcements.

Would’ve been a D if I decided to stay up till 23:00, but I just watched it now during breakfast.

I mostly play RPGs. Just beat Visions of Mana. I have Expedition 33 pre-ordered next for PS5. I also use the system to play my numerous PS4 discs.
So you voted F because you expected more RPGs?
That’s fair I guess. But your taste in games is also narrow. For those who like action adventures there were like 5-10 cool games shown.

Loved this discussion from the Kinda Funny Games crew, you know people (including those that prefer Xbox and PC) that universally loved this State of Play and genuinely have a passion/hobby for games instead of toxic negativity. Their sentiments are pretty much spot on.

Wild seeing their reaction versus some folks here

I think most of the complainers on Gaf should just re-evaluate gaming as a hobby for them, because this SoP is exactly what they've been crying for these past 4 years: non-Gaas AA and indie.

Man....I was literally just thinking this. This show to me was largely equal to the last big Xbox show.

Also, it seems like if Sony doesn't show 2 or 3 first party titles nothing else in the show matters.
It's also kind of silly because while they didn't do it at one show, they actually have announced a decent amount of first party games over the last 9 months. Astro bot, Ghosts, Intergalactic and now Saros.

Kind of getting to a point where I don't really know how much people expect. Like I wonder if they just announced all those games at one showcase or whatever if people would feel different

Not being hyperbolic, but there wasn’t a game shown I had any interest in playing. Like, even if these were all free, nothing here looked interesting.

I dunno, maybe the trailers were all just bland in how they were cut, but everything here was completely forgettable to me.

Awesome if any of you saw stuff you’re hyped for, though. I’m personally feeling like the gaming landscape feels VERY stale right now.

Half of the games shown had hard dates already, after month of now communicating this was garbage tier. I will play some of those games but that's not the point.

B-

Plenty of stuff I'm interested in from Onimusha to Hell Is Us, Borderlands 4 to Lies of P prequel. Saros announcement was a massive, welcome surprise. Fully expected Death Stranding 2 gameplay but in retrospect Kojima would naturally have a dedicated SoP.

Anyone disappointed:

1. Set expectations sky high as usual

2. Are one-dimensional gamers who really don't play many games

3. Are known PC nerds who are going to troll no matter what they show

It is what it is 👌

Predicts the worst decade for Sony starting 2022
I think Sony wasting all that money on those bullshit live service games is why their first party is so weak.

And there were several new ones too, unless you specifically avoid action and action-adventures or only play first party games I can’t see how anyone can go away thinking it was a F. There were some smaller games as padding but otherwise a show literally filled with amazing-looking games. As said in another thread I’ve been hammering the wishlist button on Steam after the show, I didn’t expect that.

Anyone who voted A or above is a pure Sony Pony Muppet. There was nothing in there to even consider it was close to an A.

Moderated wildly
I enjoyed it for third party releases that looked pretty cool.

Really wish I'd just gone to bed and skipped it though. New housemarq game with Rahul will be amazing. Start dating Alanah Pearce and et a starring role in a Sony game is a good way to get gigs I think.

I'd probably rate it a solid D.

Super boring. More CGI trailers, remasters, old stuff dressed up as new, and a few interesting things but way too Souls-inspired (I’m so over it).

Sony bores me to death.

Wow, the shills over at Kinda Slutty for Corporate Clout loved a State of Play full of Chinese Soulslop, remasters, and CGI trailers. Guess I'm wrong.

The saddest part is that if you feel that way, you have to realize that this SoP is on par with a good Xbox showcase.
Yeah, I can buy that. In fact, you might see stuff in my post history that says "the glaze is too strong", or something close to it. I'm not suddenly an Xbox fan, guys. Lol

Look, the showcases and the quarterly earnings are all well and good, but the end result needs to be a good number of great games that holistically justifies purchasing this hardware at these prices.

The biggest announcement at this display was a Not!sequel to Returnal - which sold like utter shit.
