Rumor That Half Life 3 Will Be Announced At TGA

I don't get it, either. I bought the first game at release and really enjoyed it and the multiplayer. It was a good game. I never felt the urge to even try the second game. I don't know why people are creaming their jeans over this series.

It would still be a big deal, but not nearly as big if it had been announced years ago. The further we get from Half Life 2, the less relevant it becomes.

When "holy shit" was talked about, I honestly thought of Half Life and Bloodborne. Jason apparently said not Bloodborne, so, it leaves me to wonder what "holy shit" means to people.

I want to believe Gabe would be there to announce it. Believe me. But, I too, do not believe Gabe gives two shits about The Game Awards. That being said I know that him and Geoff know each other pretty well.

So, if one IS Half Life, what's the other? Lmao. Definitely not something that's "holy shit" material IMO.
The fact that he's implying that there are two announcements on the same level of importance makes me think there's no way one of them could be HL3. That would be head and shoulders above anything else.

A quick google says it did. but if that was true it would be more expensive to get your game on there than a super bowl ad. Its bullshit.
Super bowl has mostly US viewers with the biggest audience. Live veiws globally are not as lucrative for ads and are based on veiws of the ads individually. Just saying. 118M people aren't going to see the same ad.

Half Life 3 using the Alyx gold engine 2 is ideal and would make sense too. It's the perfect time. Also bring back Race X cause the Combine looks boring.

Currently replaying the series in VR, and its still the greatest first person game series ever made. Half Life 2 was revolutionary in terms of its physics, and the pace of the storytelling is pitch perfect. It's the exact right mixture of satisfying combat, narrative world building & mystery and environmental storytelling.

HL2 in VR is better than 95% of every other made exclusively for VR game. As is Portal 2.
Do these have teleportation locomotion in VR?

Half life 2 Is in the top 5 gaming experiences of my life and im probably underselling here ,[ravenholm flashbacks]but I fear us fans here are overestimating the impact of the half life ip in the current gaming landscape. Us geezers would kill for the game but the gaming community hasn't seen a mainline half-life game in near 2 decades.

That being said my god if the sequel is close to as good as half life 2 was for its time then i could retire from gaming happy after playing it. Still remember the jaw dropping advance in physics and direction which sadly shits on most modern games decades later.

Disagree. You show a ad for a videogame during the TGA's 100% of the audience are interested in good videogames. Show an ad for a movie during the super bowl 100% of the audience don't got to the movies.

There's no way 118 million people watched the TGA's its fabricated. Ads would cost an insane amount to reach that many people. What was the figure touted a while ago $250k?

Uhhh, because Naughty Dog is the most talented developer in the industry and its not even close really. Whatever game they make will be groundbreaking and generation defining, as per usual.

Valve is a shell of itself, they would be lucky to share the same stage as Neil DruckGodd tomorrow.

Gabe gets up on stage, doesn't say anything.

Looks around the crowd in silence, and then makes a three with his fingers.

Everyone gets up and begins the loudest cheer ever in the history of the show.

Then on the screen, there it appears, three new special skins for dota 2.
LOL

I'm content with no HL sequel. There's no way it would ever live up to the expectation. Besides, we already got Half Life 3, it's called Half Life: Alyx.

Dang, is it really that good? I'm not a VR guy so Im unaware.

Yes. I’ve played it 3 times now and it never stops being an absolute blast to play. It ruined other VR games for me, because once you play this, nothing comes close to it after all those years.

The immersion, how it controls, the action, makes it the most impressive gaming experience I’ve had since a long long time. I felt a void after playing it, and that ending is QUITE the tease for things to come..

In all seriousness, Valve is going to save Half-Life 3 for a blowout announcement. The game will launch with either Fremont, or Deckard if there is a VR version, along with a new Steam Controller.

Maybe they will even give the game away with Fremont or Deckard. much like they gave away Half-Life Alyx with the headset.

They don't need Jeff in the slightest.

I didn’t love it that much back then, and I’m not excited by these kinds of news now either. They were good games sure but not goats for me. I only played Alyx for a few hours, and I still don’t understand the hype around it. If it’s released as a scripted FPS, I’m not sure how successful it would be. It needs to do something revolutionary.

Playstation fanboys are like vegans. They go into irrelevant threads and cape for Sony non-stop and annoy everyone who doesn’t care.

Younger gamers don't care about the franchise. Most of them weren't even born when HL2 was released.

For older gamers who care, it will never live up to the hype.

I can't decide if I want to see traditional Half-Life game or a proper VR title. To be honest I'm more intrigued by the idea of a VR Half-Life 3. Valve Deckard will be my first headset and that would be a nice first game to play!

Both HL1 and HL2 are among my favorites and I want their third title to step out of the comfort zone a little. The industry is plagued by shitty safe title.

The worst thing they can do is to release a safe, static open world with no physics. Have some fun ffs.

Long time ago, I said that there is only 2 games that would make me return to PC gaming : Warcraft 4 and Half-Life 3.

Is this the day ?

If true, I will go crazy ! Imagine : Half Life FUCKING 3 ! But let's stay calm for now.

Its only my opinion, but I believe Valve have indeed been making Half Life 3 in recent times. Who knows if it will be at the game awards or not but the wind is blowing that they are developing it.

You had Half Life Alyx release in 2020 a good 4 years ago and that came about - because as Valve always say - it had a unique gameplay and selling point cause of the VR.

There will always be a demand fot half life 3 so maybe Valve indeed found that unique selling point for Half Life 3 and have been rolling with it.

I get excited for the things that I love, and I love stories and characters. Valve haven't finished the story that they started with Episode 1, and they've absolutely shat on the characters since then.

Why would I get excited for a possible Half Life 3, other than the fascinating prospect of consooming product. And I'm going to repeat myself:
The ending of HL:A makes it clear that Valve intends to put the player back right where Episode 2 left off, and the changes made in HL:A arguably make for a much more interesting story.

You're making a big deal of Valve saying they didn't just want to give you a new story, but nowhere do they say they don't care about the story. Their point is that they feel story must always be in service to the experience, and they didn't think they had a compelling new experience to offer. Now apparently that's changed and we should be less excited?
