Apparently the developers on discord have confirmed that the system A-life is bugged and they will patch it down the line

What a fucking joke modern gaming is

Seems that way, yeah. I've had several instances where dogs/enemies/friendly stalkers just casually spawn 10 feet away out of the field of view.

You're just minding your business and suddenly you get attacked from the side by 6 dogs which are immediately all over you before you even realize what the hell is happening.

The world doesn't really feels "lived in" at all.

Quite the embarrassment for the people who have claimed the AI is good or "fine".

This is the Cyberpunk launch all over again, just on a smaller scale.

So sad to see the trolls out in force and seemingly with no experience of the PC original. I don't game on PC but still remember to this day playing the game on my mates on his top class PC, even on his rig the game had issues running but it was all the experience of the game and it moody atmosphere, which made you look past the dreadful menu system, the bugs and laughing voice acting and syncing

|This is just more of the same, it feels and plays like a direct Stalker sequel complete with the haunting atmosphere. Reminds me of After Burner Climax of sequels that took years and years to make but plays almost exactly like the original just with fancy modern graphics.

Loving this game, the atmosphere and direction is exceptional as is the sound. My biggest issue with the game was the default HDR and brightness settings

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
This is my first Stalker game.

My first impressions
- The game's tough, it's like first person souls shooter game. Anything can kill you, even a random enemy.
- You have to do a lot of inventory management, don't do it and you'll be out of supplies fast.
- Performance is good on Xbox SX, I'm playing on fidelity mode and it's holding 30fps with good visuals.
- Graphics are fascinating, the lighting, reflections, animations, cutscenes and lipsync are good. Feels like devs have done as much as they possibly could.
- No bugs till now.
- You really feel like you're post apocalyptic radiation world, like fallout las vegas but more realistic.
- Enemy AI is decent, I saw dogs and humans do flank you from behind if you aren't paying attention to them or buzy. (and they don't make any noise)
- Dogs are annoying as f**kkkk..
- When you're in range of a blast you get this small concussion which disorients you for few seconds. It's quite realistic, the devs must know how it feels, literally.

Co signed on the dogs part, the toughest encounters I've had so far in the game are with packs of dogs.

Ah yes, "if you rightfully point out the shit state the game is in, you're a troll because the original had the exact same issues". Your post gave me a hearty chuckle ngl :messenger_tears_of_joy:
I'm enjoying the game so far, but it doesn't excuse them releasing it in such a state, I can't get decent performance out of this thing with a 4080 super and a 5800x3d ffs... And A-life, if it even exists is absolutely borked, enemies spawning in front of you, the combat AI being far more A than I, it's a mess and the originals were much superior in this regard.

So ... how do I find artifacts around the world? Is it signposted, something I have to go real out of my way to hunt, or will I start getting some as part of story quests?

None so far.

I think you do have to just hunt them down. Remember the artifact thing that you got at the very beginning in the sewage during the prologue, along with your mobile scanner? Probably the same steps or process applies for other artifacts around the zone.

Oh wow, I had completely forgotten about that. Gonna start using it more around weird stuff in the game world.

I want to stop playing and wait until they fix this AI 2.0 thing, but damn this game is sucking me in. Feels like the first time I played the original Stalker. They did a good job at making this feel dangerous and uncomfortable like a Stalker game should. I sort of wish they went back to the original and got rid of the bleeding effect because its a pain in the ass after every encounter to be bleeding out, but that adds to the push and pull of the gameplay I suppose.

Played a few hours, and I'm in love with Stalker all over again. Runs great, I've seen no bugs as of yet (PC, 4090, 7800X3D, 64GB RAM, etc).

The game just oozes atmosphere in the best possible way. It's hard a fuck too on the default Stalker difficulty. Gotta save often!

It's so creepy as well. I was traversing an open field area and saw a monster corpse a little ways away. Went to investigate and on the other side of a corpse was a dog who had been sleeping or something, when the thing stood up I nearly crapped myself and let off a loose, jittery burst of gunfire, blowing the thing away.

Your specs definitely show that it's definitely varied per experience. Which, I mean, should be expected regarding PC gaming as there's just so many variables. I've seen folks with 4090s saying it was a stuttery mess. I'm running a 7900 xtx and had absolutely no issues with performance personally.

when you're around anomalies (at least 3+ in a small vicinity from my experience) pop out the scanner and if it starts beeping, you're near an artifact.
There's this contracting and expanding ball of water near the first town, I gotta imagine something's up there but holy shit that thing kills you within 2 seconds.

That's some of the typical dumb shit people will say when their favorite game or current game is being criticized.

I swear the AI is worse than in the original game.

This is probably the most atmospheric game I’ve played this year. Was going through a series of tunnels with an anomaly in there with me, and the combination of white noise mixed in with the subtle music in the background just about made me piss myself lol.

I also personally love how utterly pitch black it is at night without your flashlight on, and in houses/buildings where the light from outside can’t get in anyway. I definitely take my sweet time clearing a room or entire building, because I just don’t know what the hell might be in there with me.

Game has its hooks in me for sure.

Seems for some reason they didn’t provide menu remapping, quite odd for such import at buttons…

I can't stand not being able to understand the enemy during combat situations. I loved Max Payne 3 but not being able to understand what the enemy was saying really hurt the experience for me. One of my favorite things from the old games was hearing the enemy talk about me or what I was doing.
If that was without switching language then wouldn't that be more immersive? ;)

You’re not playing Stalker anymore at that point. That’s like playing Elden Ring with Infinite flasks.

Console players miss these but I guess we'll complete this the hard way.

Yeah i don't know about that, the game would lose its reason d'être if you cut all the inventory management stuff.
