A Reddit user named OrfeasDourvas shared their experience of playing the game on the Xbox Series X in Performance Mode. They described the performance as “not smooth” and the visuals as “a little dirty.” Despite praising the immersive weather effects and environmental details, they hoped for a substantial day-one patch to fix the current issues.

Regarding the A-Life 2.0 simulation system, which promises dynamic AI-driven interactions, the user noted they hadn’t seen enough of the feature to fully assess its impact. They speculated that this system might be contributing to the game’s performance challenges on consoles.

They should have stuck with the X-Ray engine and massively upgraded it. What modders achieve on PC is incredible.
UE5 is too resource-hungry; developers are unable to optimize it properly for current consoles.

It was always going to be a PC game first and foremost. Just like Cyberpunk, Black Myth, AW2, Star Wars Outlaws, etc. These games are developed with high spec PC in mind and then gimped to run on consoles. Only so much gimping you can do. All of these console games you see temporal upscaling from 1080p or lower from these 3rd party developers are console afterthoughts.

being UE5, you would´nt expect performance in 60fps mode to be "smooth". I would be satisfied with the performance being located in areas where the VRR can do its job and the image quality is adequate and perhaps better than what has been usual in consoles in the UE5 game performance mode... We will see.

Performance mode?
Thats the one aiming for 60 anyone who was expecting a locked 60 in this game clearly hasnt been paying attention to the generation, the War happening or UE5 in general.

Im not surprised.

Same user:
VRR helps out a ton. It's still not a locked 60 but it feels much better imo.

AI is kicking my ass all the time so that probably shouldn't concern you lol

I think it's mostly very accurate shooting but I'm gonna have to dive a little deeper. Dogs flank you though and it's really tough to catch them.

I don't think anyone will have an issue with AI being too easy.

This actually all sounds like good news to me.
But that install size.....ooooofffff
160GB.......time to start uninstalling some stuff.

The comments from the Reddit user the "article" was based off of doesn't sound as dramatic: https://www.reddit.com/user/OrfeasDourvas/

Wait for the day-one patch I guess 🤷‍♂️

Thank you, was a nice read, the first testing if him was on a none VRR TV, but after testing with VRR TV he says it's better:

I'm really happy to report that VRR does make a significant difference! It's still not a rock solid 60 on Performance but definitely within playable.

Will be interesting to see how good is the performance mode, still optimistic i will enjoy it.

Game on EU5 have mediocre performance, wow shocking news... "Surprised" to the depths of my soul, this has already become such a norm that you wonder if it was worth it for everyone to switch to it so quickly...

So UE5… again

Whole engine is based on getting grainy graphics fixed by temporal solution which smears everything.

I’m starting to hate UE..
Every Unreal has been mediocre and annoying. How many rock solid classics are released on UE? Breaks my heart that CDPR are moving to it. Their engine blows it out of the water. Looks like Halo will suffer the same fate. Crazy how many people are blown away by the tech demos but don't notice the actual UE products are always a little stiff and problematic.

STALKER being on UE could really cut the legs off. All the previous releases require mods to have the best possible time. Can't think of any UE title with a wealth of mods. It's like if Bethesda moved to UE, but maybe not as bad.

Can’t Git Gud
Just play it on pc
Do You really think it will run better on pc? It's Stalker. We will be able to play it well, with good fps in 5-10 years lol.
There will be problems with it on any platform and it doesn't matter. Stalker ran like shit too when it released

good thing im on PC, hopefully its not trash there too.
The situation won't be better there, I'm too lazy to search for all the news, you can google it. They lied about the system requirements, in fact, the system requirements were specified using upscalers, and not on pure hardware. Then they banned people on Steam for asking how this was possible, then they actually unbanned them and apologized (the moderator got carried away). In short, it's a circus on PC too.

1000% par for the GSC course. I love all their games after patches and mods, but it's in their DNA to be sketchy. They pioneered the genre of Eastern Euro Jankware after all. (one of my favorite genres btw)

Combine this with the late review embargo, and this game looks like a big ol "wait and see".
