The PS3 ads dunking on Xbox was a thing to behold, Sony was savage back then. Years later and Microsoft’s marketing is still thrash lol.Loved the team from the PS3 era...he's one of the last.
Also...part of a tag team that buried the Xbone
“You want me to stay and work under your company? I got one demand……” - Hidetaka MiyazakiHe's also the reason why Demons Souls wasn't published in the west until a 3rd party did. But we all make mistakes.
During PS4 geb for sure. He's taken a back seat (with Sony's new messaging shift) for a few years now.Damn.....feel like he has been the soul of PlayStation for so many years.
Probably sick of Herman’s bullshit. I’d bounce too.
Yes very true. It is the result of them relocating to California sadly. At some point one would think Sony would relocate back to Japan and end this death spiral. One can hope. The soul of Sony is being chipped away in favor of clowns like Hulst and Cuckmann. Pretty sad to watch.
OGs retiring and the new G's are trash. What a sad day it is...

An Aloy chatbotThis is bad news, he's been instrumental in a lot of the great 3rd party partnerships playstation has had in recent years.
Who the hell are they going to replace him with?

Very true. Dark and sad due to the California effect. People like Hulst get promoted and people like Shuh leave. It's understandable when a incompetent guy like hulst is getting a promotion over him. Really sad and dark times.
Yes, more Concords and endless Horizons shoved in people’s faces. The woke mind virus is strong within Sony under Hulst.I expect alot more concords going forward under current leads.
The idea that a huge corporation like Sony has irreplaceable people is so weird. Playstation has huge teams on xDev that are always making these sorts of deals. Shu was mostly indie or smaller stuff more recently and he always did a hell of a job. But he's not the only one. I don't think he had anything to do with partnerships like Stellar Blade or Rise of the Ronin. That was all xDev.This is bad news, he's been instrumental in a lot of the great 3rd party partnerships playstation has had in recent years.

I wonder if this is a sign that the Kadokawa acquisition is pretty much a done deal and maybe a sign that Sony is shifting away from external development and external indie titles.
If I was Microsoft, I'd fire Booty and hire him.
I suspect that would be more corporate culture shock than the man could handle
Jim Ryan hasn't been in the company for over half a year, Hermen Hulst is not his boss (he reports to Hideaki Nishino per the internal structure), and bolded... that took almost 9 years?Probably pushed out by the jim ryan herman, moving to the west movement, another japanese playstationer bites the dust
There goes the last of the charismatic likeable suits from the 3 big platform holders in console gaming. End of an era. I loved how he appeared to genuinely love games at his core.
Now all I have left is my sweet prince GabeN.
Says that when no Californian is at the top, but instead you have Hideaki Nishino as CEO of the Platform Business Group and Hiroki Totoki (and Kenichiro Yoshida more than ever, honestly) basically controlling the whole thing. He was stored in the archives anyways. He was the last sane person at Playstation (Cerny is not a Sony employee, just a free-lance).
The japanese Playstation era is officialy over. California era is now fully in place.
I didn't know that. It's probably for the best, he can charge top dollar as a consultant / freelancer in that regard then. You are aware Cerny has never been a Sony employee?
