what are you talking about? the visuals are leagues ahead of the re remake. this is a UE5 stunner.Trying not to read anything cause I forgot mostly everything about this game since I played it more than 20 years ago.
I love, like I remember loving it on the PS2, but I need to say this: the visuals suck, it looks like a PS4 game with some improvements on textures here and there, this is not detrimental to my enjoyment, it’s just that I would have like Konami to give this the RE2R/RE3R/RE4R treatment…
I guess they just don’t care or don’t have the money. Anyway, I’m glad they made it.
Uh, I'm not sure what footage you were looking at but the game looks beautiful, and that's not some hot take. But to each their own!Trying not to read anything cause I forgot mostly everything about this game since I played it more than 20 years ago.

I played on PC so I can't really say. I'll leave it to others with hands on experience. But they did say patches with improvements were on the way.Reposting here since I thought I was on the OT while I posted on the review thread...
I'll finally be getting the game in 2 or 3 days. Any word on performance patches on PS5? how is the game currently?
And the bloody radio. The static makes everything 2× more scary than it should. I turned it off halfway through and the game is now Evil Within levels of horror.Yep. Akira Yamaoka is legit a fucking genius. His music leaves all sorts of fucked up! It's why I can tolerate the later Silent Hill games- his music alone makes them scarier than they have any right to be!

what mode are you playing in? performance? pc or ps5?
That's crazy. What? Opinions and all but the "they just don't care" part is absurd. It looks fantastic in motion and the dungeons/interiors especially look almost tangible. The greasy, wet wallpaper in the apartments, tiny details like paper flyers flapping in the wind.Trying not to read anything cause I forgot mostly everything about this game since I played it more than 20 years ago.

There’s a massive fidelity difference between those two versions. And I’m not even going into the lighting that completely changes some environments.I’m playing performance on PS5.
I’m playing performance on PS5.
Game should be played on Quality.I’m playing performance on PS5.
yeah, dont do that. the lumen reflections and GI are so paired back in that mode that it might as well be a last gen game.I’m playing performance on PS5.
- Fixed an issue with the option of switching In Game Motion Blur.
I ... don't even remember there being a motion blur toggle in the game (?)
Consider switching to the Quality mode, not only will it give you a much better image with a lot more visual effects that are stripped in Performance, it will also give you a more consistent experience. Performance has way too many drops and below the VRR to be viable. Quality is a mostly consistent 30 with only rare drops.
Yep, i played extensively with both rtx on and off and the game slaps any re engine game with ease in both modes.Game should be played on Quality.
But even then, on a pure technical front it's much more advanced than RE engine titles
Wow. Is this PS5 performance/quality comparison? If yes, that’s like the biggest difference between the 2 options ever. As I’m a graphics whore I’m playing in quality mode of course and didn’t even check performance, so honest question. Why is there such a big difference in lighting? Is quality mode ray-traced, while performance mode is not?

Yes kind of, lumen settings are much higher in quality than performanceWow. Is this PS5 performance/quality comparison? If yes, that’s like the biggest difference between the 2 options ever. wait what. I only played in perf... twice. Does this mean in quality you can actually see things in Toluca??

I agree, it still looks decent and performance was fine with quality mode for my ps5 slim.

Almost submitted a separate thread for this, but oh well... Some of these changes are rather substantial (just check the cutscenes with Angela and the Dog ending), but because according to Kempy himself, v .1.00 dates back to April 2024... 6 months before the actual release of the game.
Yo! This patch straight up broke the game for me. There is a game breaking kinda bug where you can not progress after the first rotating cube level. Anyone having the same issue? Cus this is insane actually.Silent Hill 2 Update 1.04 Live, Here's What It Does

I thought abstract daddy was incredibly easy, dude has only one move that is extremely easy to avoid. The boss fights in this game are spectacular. Abstract Daddy is really intense and harrowing and fighting Eddie is like something out of Condemned.
It's amazing how Bloober Team turned the worst part of the original into one of the best parts of the remake.
Yep its an issue for everyone. Soft lock the game and cant proceed. Gotta wait for a patch.Yo! This patch straight up broke the game for me. There is a game breaking kinda bug where you can not progress after the first rotating cube level. Anyone having the same issue? Cus this is insane actually.
Nothing works and i am almost at the end. This is so frustrating
100 hours?Just beat Abstract Daddy, which was a piss easy boss fight.
Still loving it, this is easily the best horror game since the original RE4.
Played about 100 hours so far, and I'm amazed that it's managed to remain creepy the whole time, though I've read it's another 7 hours? Seems a bit too long for a game like this.
Also fuck accidentally pressing triangle and loosing a heal.

Does anyone know how to turn off the radio sounds coming out of the PS5 controller on PC? This never happened until the latest update.
I've read somewhere that the timer is bugged, probably resets after 24 hours, that's why a bunch of slowpokes are getting the achievementHory sheet! My daughter complained about how thorough I was being with looking everywhere for items, etc, and I beat hard mode with hard puzzles in 24 hours. 100? You sure?
Anyway, absolutely loved the game! Anyone else get a glitch and unlock the achievement for beating it in under 10 hours despite the end game clock being 20+? Weird. It's like the patch started the clock over for in game time or something. I am going to fire up New Game plus as soon as I can. Also, I am so glad they added Frame Gen. I can play in 4k with raytracing at ~70 fps now on my 4070ti.
Weird, I have had the radio coming out of the controller since launch night on PC.

I don't believe there's an in game option (if so then obviously turn it off) but I actually disabled the Dual Sense as an audio device at the system level because other games would occasionally try to use it.I've also noticed the radio sounds are exclusively coming from the DS5 now. I'm on PC and that wasn't the case before the update. Again, not game breaking but I dislike the shitty audio quality of the controller speakers so if anyone knows how to change it back, pls lmk.
