Sony E3 2012 Conference Thread

where is squareenix? they aren't on ms conf and not even on sony (i am not hoping much but i tough i could hope to see at least some FF type-0 news at sony conf)

I'm guessing the sales figures for FF XIII and FFXIII-2 had something to do with the lack of Square-enix at any of the press conferences so far.

Sony should take cues from Microsoft; bullshit or severely limit actual gameplay interactions with your motion toys. If not for that Potter bullshit they had a great conference.

Sony conference was one of the worst things I've ever seen.

I will believe you if this is your first and only press conference ever. Otherwise you are full of it.
In comparison to what MS did earlier today, this was amazing. But looking at it realistically it was solid. GOW, LOU, Beyond. If MS had two new IPs MS fans would be going nuts.

The Portal stuff in the sizzle trailer.. is this new?

Sony was great except for the part with Wonderbook. But other than that, Battle Royale looked awesome and way more fun than i thought, Last of Us was amazing, Beyond is gonna be cool, and God of War was epic.

Ah, E3, the time where people are going to actually argue over which terrible conference sucked slightly less.

The PS Suite... Sorry, Mobile "news" was abit wierd. "It's still coming you guys, here's a desperate phone maker that agreed to this. That's it... Still coming soon. Eh, we'll switch name of it".

Oh and Beyond: Two Souls looks pretty good. I need to get a PS3 soon.

Beyond seems good, its technical achievements are clear to see. But, man, unless the gameplay and story can deliver, it will all be for naught. And people don't have high expectations given Heavy Rain's shortcomings in those areas.

Sony: C+
MS: D+
EA: C-
Ubisoft: B+ (honestly the co-host was unbearable and some games look eh...)

Nintendo should have an easy time beating MS and Sony.

Despite all the recent vapourware goings about it, I really still can't believe that The Last Guardian wasn't there. I guess there's still hope that some demo will be on the show, but who am I kidding.

Yeah, that bothered me, too.
If you're merciful in that world, next minute you're dead. You could see that in the truck cutscene, that's the takeaway from it all, and they nailed it masterfully here.

That said, the applause would not be for killing, it would be for delivering that message in a punch in a gut manner, that stops your breath short.

I liked that there was a big focus on games, and some of the exclusives looked really great to me, it just felt that there was a lack of something. It was certainly better than Microsoft's by a country mile but that's no feat. I guess I was just expecting a larger quantity of games and a couple of surprises like Last Guardian.

I would say the conference was... uneventful. That's a good word for it IMO.

Honestly the most disappointing thing for me was the lack of new PBR character gameplay, and only announcing two new characters.

"Promoting"? I don't call a random dance number "promoting". Promoting is seeing a 5 minute GAMEPLAY demo. Usher's number literally had no tie-in apart from "Buy Dance Central".

Again, you're clowning yourself. Defending MS's conference is a ridiculous joke.

You got to be kiddding me. Usher has two songs on DC3, including the one he performed. Plus he actually used choreoography from his real shows. But that equals RANDOM dance number?

Usher promoting DC and his new hit live on Spike TV > than the same exact DC dancers dancing to random song from the game.

Did you really say 'Usher's number literally had no tie-in apart from "Buy Dance Central".

WOW

If I had to choose, I would pick Usher dancing over the awkwardness of that SUPER LONG Wonderbook demo.

lol

Both Sony and Microsoft just had incredibly underwhelming conferences. Next to no new game announcements, a couple of solid demos each and padded by third party/services talk. You mustn't have seen many E3 conferences if you thought either was the "worst conference ever".

At this point, I'm just really ready for next gen. There's enough great games coming over the next 12 months, clearly neither Sony nor Microsoft have much major current gen software plans beyond that.

The hyperbole in this thread. So many people fell prey to the hype train.

Solid lineup for the PS3 and 360 in the next year. Disappointing about the Vita. Not much else I can say that I'll be looking forward to playing The Last of Us and Halo 4 this year and the next.

Sony's was just a tad better than Microsoft today... Beyond looks quite interesting, and Last of us was medium for me.. could be cool, but the genre is starting to be played out / flooded with uncharted esque clones.. Throw in zombies for good measure? Meh.

The Harry potter thing is canceled out by Microsoft's angry-birds clone, so really, the only edge Sony had over MS was the lack of a useless musical performance.

I can't count Trey Parker and Matt Stone in MS' favour, since they trolled them hard at their own conf.

As it stands, Matt & Trey have 'won' E3, so far.

Last year MS spent too much time on Kinect kid's stuff.
This year Sony spent too much time on Wonderbook kid's stuff.

PS3-show was really good,

Vita has some good games, but still nothing that will push its sales... :/
and "wonderbook" was just shit and waste of time. <.<

Games better than Ubisofts, but the show from them was better.
Tlou, gow and beyond were really amazing and showed their quality.

Tlou, beyond and watch dogs are really hot new ips. :)

That's awesome and all but where are the new titles? It's like nobody besides Sony started development on anything new for Vita since last E3.

Well Gravity Rush comes out next week, Soul Sacrifice is a new IP coming later, Sly Cooper is coming to the Vita, there is Little Big Planet, PSASBR, Warriors Lair, Sound Shapes, and I am sure I am missing more PSN titles, all of which are made by Sony.

I would have loved to have seen more of a Vita presence at E3 and felt if they cut the Wonderbook segment in half and showed a live demo of Soul Sacrifice and Warriors Lair they would have had a better impact, and yet not announced anything more. However, I still know those are coming so I am not going to fret over it. They said 60 Vita titles are still to come this year so we have yet to see everything, especially from 3rd party.

Anybody else noticed this was Sony's shortest E3 presser by far? They usually last over 2 hours; this one didn't even hit 90 minutes.

The Last of Us and Watch Dogs are my two favorites from E3 so far. Nintendo can go into cruise control tomorrow.

Agreed. Those two looked fantastic, shot to my top of the E3 list. But I think Nintendo is going to blow everyone out of the water.

AC3
- Nautical areas look great, but where are they? Looks like Puerto Rico or Hispaniola and those would basically be only islands close enough to Louisiana for the game's area to make much sense. Anyone with a better grasp on early American history than me have any ideas?
- Nautical battles feel pretty iffy and I can't imagine they have much depth. AC loves these empty feeling but great looking game mechanics.
The carribean area was mainly fought between France and Spain versus Britain.

Great. Did I see how it was going to be in the actual game? No? Then you don't have much of a point there, do you?

People defending 5-minute Usher in an MS conference is probably the lowest of the low. I really, truly pity MS fans at this point.

he didn't see the presser.

Cute, keep trying.

On reflection...I'm downgrading this conference. Its worse then I thought. There's nothing new. There wasn't anything novel. We got to see a cinematic for the new Quantic game and a single ten minute segment of interesting gameplay from The Last of Us. Everything else, literally everything else I would have expected as run of the mill announcements or trailer releases.
