Sony E3 2012 Conference Thread

Unless you can produce the author on stage for your event, introduce Wonderbook at Gamescom! It's Eyepet leftovers from London Studios, you don't get more Gamescom and less E3 than that. That segment sucked what little life there was out of conference.

For me:

MS*: D (Halo saved it from an F)

Sony: D+ (God of War, the extra + for free PS+ games)

*I didn't even bother watching MS conference, woke up too late and didn't bother watching it after reading the play by play. Watched the Halo 4 footage in glorious 1080P though.

Sony scored heaviest for me on the basis that at least they are launching new major IP's at this point in the generation. That's the main reason I rated them so much higher than MS anyway.

To be honest I think their approach this year was better than previous showings where they've employed a shotgun approach of cramming tons of stuff into montages and ending up with more titles being put onscreen in 90 minutes than anyone ever remembers.

Maybe I just watched an old conference by mistake? What was compelling this year?

Beyond
Last of Us
Cross platform
PlayStation Mobile
God of War
AC3 - ship combat looked amazing
PSOne on Vita
Wonderbook
Expansion of Playstation +
Etc.

Better than everyone else this year thus far. Am pretty curious about Nintendo tomorrow. Have a feeling that they may have the best showing this year. We'll see.....

Nintendo is going to have to take a shit in everyones seat and mail a box of shit to everyones house to somehow disappoint. They have 2 seperate conferences covering games

I'm sorry, but if games aren't good the games aren't good. We'll see, but this mentality is stupid. Yes, new hardware is exciting. I'm not going to lie, but, when it comes down to it, I'm not going to care about anything but the awesome games coming out in the future. For instance, The Last of Us, Ascension, Tomb Raider, Splinter Cell, Watch_Dogs, Far Cry 3, ACIII, Warfighter, and Crysis III have me celebrating gaming and is what I will take away from those shows. Nothing else. Everything else is just filler.

He killed the guy, begging for mercy and everybody claps ...
I'm pretty sure they clapped for the whole demo, not because of that 2 second scene at the end. It was brutal at the end, but the guy did try to kill him in cold blood.

Despite all the recent vapourware goings about it, I really still can't believe that The Last Guardian wasn't there. I guess there's still hope that some demo will be on the show, but who am I kidding.
It was confirmed that The Last Guardian wasnt going to be at E3. But i agree that the game must be out soon. If it isnt out next year, then it is either canceled or moved to PS4.

Remember this?

I do. The triple donged dildo lives!

I still can't get over that Wonderbook thing. I laughed out loud the moment they announced it and what it was.

I mean, what the fuck. That brought the whole conference down a couple notches for me. It's a shame too, because they were on a good roll.

I expect Nintendo to blow me away tomorrow... Sony was okay at best (Last of Us saved it, was really expecting more surprises like Diablo 3 or MGS1: remake)... MS was a bit less than okay simply because I do not care about Halo.

It had the potential to be great but once they got to the Vita and the Playbook it went downhill, God of War and Last of Us redeemed the conference

Sony: C+
MS: D+
EA: C-
Ubisoft: B+ (honestly the co-host was unbearable and some games look eh...)

Nintendo should have an easy time beating MS and Sony.

Close. I give MS a D-. The entire conference wasn't KINECT centered like last year so they aviod an F for that, but the games they showed are old as hell, and all the vioce recognition stuff was extremely lame.

Sony gets no higher then a C. Last of Us- fucking amazing. Beyond- very cool. But that 20 minute long virual book game- one of the worst things I've ever seen at E3, as bad if not worse then Ubisofts laser tag game.

Great. Did I see how it was going to be in the actual game? No? Then you don't have much of a point there, do you?

People defending 5-minute Usher in an MS conference is probably the lowest of the low. I really, truly pity MS fans at this point.

Cute, keep trying.

Interesting how some people are pretending Dance Central isn't about the latest music in the industry and Usher is some random artist that no one has a clue about. Micrsoft clearly should have had the Foo Fighters perform. I truly pity PS3 fans at this point.

Cute keep REACHING

Sony's was just a tad better than Microsoft today... Beyond looks quite interesting, and Last of us was medium for me.. could be cool, but the genre is starting to be played out / flooded with uncharted esque clones.. Throw in zombies for good measure? Meh.

Sorry but thats bullshit.
While the game definitly looked scripted in alot of scenes you cannot compare it to Uncharted.
It's focused on surviving after all since you got an actual health bar , something not really common anymore as well as medikits.
Uncharted is the complete opposite you can jump around like a maniac and eat bullets, sit down and you're fine in 10 seconds.

You can clearly see it is the same developer but the focus is different.

The hyperbole in this thread. So many people fell prey to the hype train.

Solid lineup for the PS3 and 360 in the next year. Disappointing about the Vita. Not much else I can say that I'll be looking forward to playing The Last of Us and Halo 4 this year and the next.

Look at you trying to be all objective... Sadly no one else but me will notice. Regardless, I agree with you.

The dislikes are more surprising, people are really upset about this game, lol.

Well, you got overly butthurt guys constantly refreshing.

Conference was pretty tame. The book thing was overly drawn out and obviously not targeted gaf. Well, sober gaf. Sony rarely seems to hold stuff back for surprises, so about as good as can be expected.

What interests me the most is what was not mentioned. The sizzle reel showed stuff not talked about including doa5. Tretton mentions 60 games coming for vita this year but only mentions a handful. The seem to keep some things close to heart.

today was just terrible

Only good things- Last of Us, PS1 support. I which If I had a Vita it would only be used for ps1 rpgs, like my Go.
everything else I can do without. or I can get at Bargain Bin.

No Vita support whatsoever.
Sony must be high if they think Assassins Creed can make someone purchase a Vita, even in a Bundle. With a non special edition Vita at that. Blows my mind.

and COD Vita basically doesn't exist imo, don't see why people are hyped. What game has actually came out on its announced release date with zer0 gameplay shown. lol, not fooling me.
Sony is really dropping the ball when it comes to handhelds. I also like how they changed the name of PS Suite and not the Vita.
craziness.

Also that Move thing looks like a turtle. First time I hated something that looked like a Turtle.

Cute, keep trying.

You got to be kidding if you thought the 15 minute Wonderbook segment was better than the 5 minute Usher one.

+The Last of Us
-No Vita Price cut
-No games for Vita ( only 2 third party games, one only as logo)
-Cage/QD games was not Kara or cyperpunky.
-Nothing from SCEJ
-No real games from SCEE studios

so far
UBI>>>Sony>EA>>>>>>>>>>>Microsoft.

I have to agree that the Wonderbook demo was a bit too long, and i was hoping to see a reel of games for PS Suite/Mobile. I was also expected to see more Vita announcements, but other than that, it was good in my opinion. But E3 isnt over yet, so there might be some more stuff to be seen (for example, the Big Daddy gameplay was shown at Gametrailers.com after the press conferance).

Honestly they could have saved this by showing at least 5 new Vita games, a PS3 price drop and some real major 3rd party characters for battle royale. Big Daddy is not cutting it for a game spanning the Playstations history, as he barely has anything to do with the brand.

The part where the girl tried to unlock that door in the book, failing several times was pure gold.

Yet nothing truly amazing. The first two look pretty good I guess. But still nothing awe inspiring. At least for me, anyway.
