Sony has become the second biggest company in Japan by market cap

If mental gymnastics was a sport you'd be rather successful amigo. It doesn't matter how they won the console war, it's the fact that they bloody well did.
Like I said, I get that you are ruffled, but what I said is what happened.

As for who "wins", you are worked up over something arbitrary. Home console — that is where Sony shines. Portable — that is where Nintendo shines. Both of these companies now have a winning slice of the market. What's the issue, amigo?

No need for the gaslighting. The Switch is more than just the portable market, that's the point you seem to miss.

You haven't been gaslit, but it is comical watching you get so roused over what is ultimately a debatable subject.

They didn't. People who want to play up-to-date gen games choose between PC, PS or XBOX. Nintendo isn't in that conversation. It's dumb to suggest that Mario Odyssey or Zelda are substitute products of GTA or TLOU, among another hundred that you can't play on a Nintendo console.

Irrelevant. It's the sales that matter

Why is it only Sonybois who don't want the switch to count as a console? Funny that init.
This is the narrative people spin now. I was there for SNES vs Genesis when there was a real console war. When PlayStation entered the scene, their goal was to kill Nintendo. Ken Kutaragi was a beast out for revenge. When Sega went out during the PS2 era EVERYONE thought Nintendo was next. Ken understood he could not kill Nintendo off without entering the handheld console market. The PS3/PSP combo was Sony going all in to kill off Nintendo for good. And people thought it was over. PSP would be the Gameboy killer. But the Wii/DS combo changed that forever. Sony realized they could not kill Nintendo. The narrative didn’t allow this to be a “loss” for PlayStation. Instead, Nintendo was labeled as “doing their own thing”.

I really don't care. It's a hybrid, that means it's both. Funny how Switch is the only tablet to be called a console when it's not the only handheld that can connect to a TV.

It was Nintendo fans that have separated the two traditionally anyway.

Interesting! We're told Nintendo isn't competition because.....reasons, so leaving Sony the traditional home console market is a "bad idea", but as soon as it is stated that the Switch isn't the same as the Wii U, suddenly we have "favorites", are gaslighting, creating narratives, etc.

But, cool. At least we now agree that Xbox can leave the scene because Nintendo is real competition after all!

We were told that poor switch is just a handheld and we can compare it with big consoles in countless graphics comparison threads too. Hypocrisy as it is - to change the narrative when it suits you.

Which says a lot about sony that they haven't been able to replicate that since. it's why they magically found some more ps2's down the back of the couch so they could keep this record as it's all they have.
Love the PS2. Probably my 2nd favorite console of all time beside the 360. We'll never see a library like that again, due to the race for better gwafics. Leading to longer dev times. But how many of those PS2's were bought, used as a DVD player, and never gamed on?

We don't know. Do you?

How many 360s never made it past the first week?

How many Series X's are still being used?

How many 4090s were bought by artists instead of gamers?

This should be obvious where I am going...
