They didn't think about it till ROTJ. It was basically an easy out for any kind of love triangle.I was never really on board with the whole brother/sister thing. Makes ANH retroactively pretty awkward.
In that RotJ deleted takeoff scene, don't Luke and Leia have another smooch? So late in the game and still getting filmed. What was going on?
By that time, they had already hinted at it in TESB, right? I assume by the time of ROTJ it had already been long decided that they were siblings so why is he still writing tender kisses into the script? Is Lucas someone I need to wonder about, or what?
I don't read comics, but I just went out and bought Star Wars 1 - 3, Darth Vader 1 - 2 and Princess Leia 1.
Can't wait to get stuck in!
My local comic shop still has quite a few of them in stock especially the alt covers. Its a pretty well-known place in the area too so its not a case of nobody buying them. Jason Aaron even stopped by back when #1 released to sign copies. I think a lot of these places knew it was going to be big and just bought a lot of overstock. You were still able to find them on shelves? Impressive

I'd never seen those deleted scenes until now. That RotJ scene in the sandstorm explains why Luke covered up his artificial hand with a glove. I always wondered about that.
Glad you dug it. My favorite is definitely the RotJ scene of Luke putting together his saber, and the ANH stuff with Luke before he meets Obi Wan.
i totally need to watch those deleted scenes. I don't even have the blurays. Some fan I am.
I remember listening to these when I was younger:
They had some great extra stuff that aren't in the movies, like Luke and his friends racing.
ROGUE ONE IS THE FIRST STAR WARS STAND-ALONE FILM, RIAN JOHNSON TO WRITE AND DIRECT STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII
THE TITLE FOR DIRECTOR GARETH EDWARDS' STAND-ALONE MOVIE, FEATURING ACTRESS FELICITY JONES, IS REVEALED, AND RIAN JOHNSON IS CONFIRMED FOR STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII -- COMING TO THEATERS MAY 26, 2017.
Always in motion is the future, Yoda said. The future of the Star Wars cinematic galaxy, however, is taking shape.
This morning at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, across the street from Lucasfilm, Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger hosted a shareholder meeting where he announced news regarding the first Star Wars stand-alone movie as well as Star Wars: Episode VIII.
Rogue One is the title for the first film in a unique series of big-screen adventures that explores the characters and events beyond the core Star Wars saga. Rogue One will be directed by Gareth Edwards (Monsters, Godzilla) and written by Oscar nominee Chris Weitz (Cinderella, About a Boy, Antz). The first actress cast is Felicity Jones, who garnered an Academy Award nomination and critical acclaim for her performance in The Theory of Everything. The idea for the story of Rogue One came from John Knoll, an Academy Award-winning visual effects supervisor and chief creative officer at Industrial Light & Magic. He will executive produce along with Simon Emanuel (The Dark Knight Rises, Fast & Furious 6) and Jason McGatlin (Tintin, War of the Worlds). Kathleen Kennedy and Tony To (Band of Brothers, The Pacific) are on board to produce and John Swartz (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) will co-produce. The film starts shooting this summer in London and is due for release on December 16, 2016.
In addition, Iger confirmed that Rian Johnson will write and direct Star Wars: Episode VIII. The film, which continues the saga after the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, is set for release on May 26, 2017 forty years and a day after the release of Star Wars: A New Hope in 1977. Johnson is widely considered one of cinemas most gifted young filmmakers, having directed the modern sci-fi classic, Looper, as well as Brick and The Brothers Bloom. He was also behind the camera for three episodes of the critically-acclaimed TV series Breaking Bad, including Ozymandias, which series creator Vince Gilligan named as the best installment of the show. Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman, producer of Looper, Don Jon, Brick, and The Brothers Bloom, are on board to produce.
I think calling Looper a "modern classic" is a little gracious.
If the tight leash on Marvel films is any indication, will it even matter who directs future Star Wars installments?

Not even a year between (Rogue One and Ep8) releases now!
Felicity Jones was brilliant in The Theory of Everything (along with her co-star Eddie Redmayne). Definitely look into it if you are interested to see what she can be capable of. I'm glad she got the role, her career is off to such a great start.
Yep, great bit of casting. I like the title. X-Wing Top Gun style?
I'm so glad we'll be getting Star Wars movies that aren't focused on Force users. I'm sure I am in the miniority, but I've always liked the non-Jedi/Sith aspects of the Star Wars universe much more. Even as a kid my go scenario with my action figures was Han and Chewie in the Falcon trying to get away from the 4-5 bounty hunter figures I owned. Good times.

By the way, the day the floodgates open is September 4th. That's the release date for a lot of the pre-TFA merchandise, including the books, comics and toys.
I know I'm not. Wallet am cry.i don't think we are ready for this
Kylo Ren is apparently the rarest card to get.
