Star Wars Outlaws |OT| Robbin' Hutts

Writes a lot, says very little
Iv watched a few reviews and most about stealth they say is that there are limited mechanics, and a pretty bad checkpoint system if you are caught. Like a regular none stealth focus stealth mechanic game, is that wrong?

Upgrades where mentioned but for example are there stealth upgrades that let you have the stun more often with the blaster as I heard it was 1 min+ or on multiple opponents to make stealth easier?
To my understanding, from a preview I saw, it works like most stealth games, where they forget about you after a few minutes and it reverts back to the regular stealth mode after an alarm

The ole classic amnesia

Played the first quest (TLJ haters will LOVE this game, it starts on Canto Bight) where you first need to pickpocket credits from the Canto Bight police and sell scrap to get 100 credits to repair your data spike so you can lockpick doors. I HATE the lockpicking, it's a rhythm thing. Then you need to sneak into a night club using lockpicking and steal a data card, then you shoot your way out.

The game is made to be played in 21:9. You can play in 16:9, but it's just zoomed in and you can miss details.

Playing on XSX at Quality (40) mode and it looks amazing. Up there with the Avatar game, and better in parts.

Edit: As expected, trolls in the review thread are complaining that it's not RDR or GTA and you can't randomly kill everyone.
am i the only one that thinks avatar game looks like shit on ps5? :(

No I was thoroughly disappointed with it, even the lauded sound scape. I broke a 7 year Ubisoft buying hiatus for it and was like "god damn it not again"

Yeah I mean that's pretty standard, the issue I heard is that you have 3 mechanics and then the game pretty much does not evolve from that for stealth. Which is surprising given that Ubisoft games tend to be pretty good at stealth historically, or at least giving the player multiple options and tools in how to engage and disengage.

As above I don't buy Ubisoft games, but sometimes via subscriptions and friends I end up getting them, PSN gave me valhalla for example. I like my Star Wars games, but this one looks like something that needs to be looked at again in like 6-12 months when all the content is put from the season pass, and the patches have time to fix the most glaring issus.

These games also tend to get patches that improve performance across all modes like 4 months later, was the same for avatar.

I think I'm going to wait for sale for this one. I *was interested* in getting it but the reviews have so many little niggling things (some of which could be patched out) that I'm happy to wait for a BF sale before picking up. I was expecting a solid 7.5/10 and it seems that (right now) it's closer to a 6.5/10.

Played for about 5 hours, actually only stopped playing just now because it crashed on me trying to open the map on some field area; maybe a bug or maybe just my old driver.
Anyway I like what I've played so far, still repairing the ship but I'm looking forward to going into space.
Game seems to run pretty smooth with the default settings it detected, around 40-60fps, no stuttering or shader compilation, though the very start of the game runs much better than the second planet (toshara), so if you're going to fiddle with settings wait until you get to toshara. I also noticed quite a bit of SSD activity when moving around, which drops the fps a few digits; on the speeder bike it went up to 50% SSD usage, so I wonder if moving it to my nvme would improve that.
The game is super flavourful and atmospheric, and just really pretty in general

Put in an hour and it's just, meh. I started on my projector with 21:9 and moved over to my Samsung 57" 32:9 and performance was ok in the first planet, but as soon as I hit the second my FPS tanks while riding the speeder. I have to use DLSS/Performance/FG on my 4090 to get any playable frame rate. I turned off Film grain and even then picture is just too soft so I'll be going back to the projector so I can run with some better DLSS settings.
I know I just started but the combat wasn't that engaging even with AI set to challenging. I'm not a fan of the hacking and security minigames either.

It's pretty fun. Glad I didn't pay full price though. I am having some streaming textures issue making the game ugly AF all of a sudden. Gonna try to restart it.

Enjoying it, the fact that it's Star Wars with a lot of attention to detail in the setting is probably helping me to enjoy it, but otherwise it's an Ubi game with Star Wars skin. That's ok, every game doesn't need to be a genre breaker. Having a good time with it - I get some of the criticism especially around the choice they made for the character's looks, surely they could have done better - but I also think some of the negativity is waaaay overdone and it just part of the trend of piling on Star Wars. This will be one where a year from now people come back to it and realize it's better than they thought - sort of what like Gotham Knights is going thru right now.

I haven't been caught myself, but I believe the missions where it says "Do not get caught", is where it would fail if you do; I've only seen two of those so far, the rest of the stealth is the same as assassin's creed, if they can't find you it just breaks combat and goes back to stealth.

Only played about 80 minutes (so mostly linear tutorial), just entered the mansion to steal stuff.
2880x1620 (DLDSR) with DLSS quality and ultra preset, RT disabled, has been completely stable 60fps so far, no stutter or framedrops (5800X3D, 3080Ti). Image is sharp and clean.
Game looks good and has good atmosphere. So far only annoying thing is really Kay's weird looking face. In some scenes she looks almost ok, in others not so much. Really big disservice to the beauty of Humberly Gonzales, she deserved better. I like her voice and personality so far.

Looking forward to playing more after work.

I've been playing for a few hours and honestly I am not feeling it. The stealth feels half baked, the gameplay is just clunky and very stiff, I am not sure if it will be improved when unlocking skills but so far I am not convinced. I think Jedi Fallen Order and Survivor have a much better gameplay than this

A lot of reviews are flat out lying. If your stealth breaks you can get it back. If works like stealth in most games, find a place to hide and they’ll stop hunting you.
I heard that it's just not as frequent as some says but you have some missions where for story reason you return to a checkpoint if discovered.

Not all stealth sections fail if spotted, but there are there.

He knows that very well, some missions clearly state you can't get detected and there are tons of videos of people having to restart when caught, no idea why hes so obssesed with lying to defend this franchise. I genuinely think he either has a job at Disney or at Lucasfilm. He got banned for a bit tho.

From the videos of gameplay I saw, clunky is the vibe I got from it more than anything else.

Same ive played so far along where i repaired the ship and now i have to infiltrate a imperial base.
And yeah im not feeling it.

Can we not just get a proper Action RPG Star Wars game where i can become a sith or jedi?? Basicly Kotor 2.0???
We only got mid to mediocre Star Wars games since we started getting Star Wars games again. Its sad

I really wanted this game to be good. Sounds like it’s just okay. A perfect game to pick up in 6 months for half the price and better optimized.

I'm honestly having a tough time getting in to it, I've barely got past the first mission for fuck sake and I'm just at awe at how so predictably right I was seeing previews showing that movement and shooting is absolutely dog shit tier coming from a studio that did amazing shooting and movement.
All I can think of is they have a bunch of inexperience devs that couldn't hold a candle to their previous.

Like, is there a cover system? Can you shoot around a corner without having to strafe out and expose your entire body like it's a game from 1997?
All I see is the option to crouch? Just shoving my face into every desk and wall? ugh.

Edit: Also from what I've seen from vids, AI is really bad too.

Division 2 looks so much better than this, plays so much smoother and intuitively, the gun play for 3rd person is just...👌 and the ai react so much better to numbers/positions/flanks or being overwhelmed.
What happened?! Going to try some more later this afternoon.

the lock pick game even on easy can f off i wish it had auto complete like spiderman has on its stuff.
I don't have the game, but someone in the review thread said that you can turn off the lock pick game in the settings.

I just looked it up on Google:

"Changing the Lockpicking rhythm challenge option to "Off" will disable the Lockpicking minigame. This can be enabled again at any time by selecting "On". On the Lockpicking difficulty line, you can change the difficulty to "Easy", "Default", or "Hard"."

Yeah I'm playing on 4070ti dlss performance at 4k and it looks really blurry with no texture detail and everything washed out. I can't imagine what this looks like on series s lol 😂.

I was playing the Avatar dlc all weekend while I had ubi+ and that game looks 10 times better. It looks great actually.

The reactions to this one is making me worried about AC Shadows.

Ubi is on a mediocre games streak right now.

To he fair it's pretty cool that you get to play as Matt Damon in Star Wars.

I'm back to my "never buy an Ubisoft title" mantra for now, I broke it for Avatar, and this is the same studio, it's amazing how disappointing that game was for me. This admittedly looks better but that mid 70's is giving me flashbacks.

Man this is the worse triple A title I have played in a long time. I regret so much paying ubisoft plus for this. What the hell were they thinking?

GerAlt-Right. Ciriously.
I'll get it once it goes on a dirt cheap PC sale with bug fixes and where I can replace the lead model who looks like an actual woman.

Really digging the vibe & atmosphere in this but woof the combat is clunky.

Almost hard to believe it's a Massive game considering how good the shooting is in Division 1&2. Even Avatar was very competent.

I just want a Star Wars video game where you play as a Sith, hunting Jedi during Order 66 (and beyond).

And yes, Force Unleashed 1 was OK but it didn't scratch that itch for me, tbh.

If your biggest gaming regret is $15 Ubi+ sub you're coming out waaaaay on top friend. I paid full price for Watch_Dogs+season pass on launch day

Tag, you're it.
Perhaps less blurry with this settings...

Haven't tried this but for anyone on PC I recommand using Reshade and turn on sharpening and vibrance. It helps a lot with the IQ. And of course turn of motion blur, CA & grain. I will post screenshots later but the game is way more appealing like this.

Could you detail ? The game seems to have good vibes at least, still interested in giving it a shot when it will be 20$ or something

I went and bit the bullet. The hate and mixed reception got to me as it always does in these cases no matter what the game is. And its fucking Star Wars dude.

I only got to fiddle with the options before heading to work and there's a decent variety of shit to turn on and off and adjust.

Like for example, Karak seemed pretty positive on the whole experience and said to drop enemy health to "story" but to keep yours on "hard" so not only are the fights a little more intense, but you're then able to take out guys with a couple blaster shots rather than a dozen.

The gameplay is so bland, stealth just doesn't work as it should and it's the focus of the game so that's a big problem. Gunplay and action seems to be better but its very minimal in the game and mostly scripted and when you create the action the AI is just a joke. It's really bad, feels like they just put effort in the enviroments and graphics and forgot to make a fun gameplay loop. As a technical showcase this is great but this is just another Avatar with bland writing mission design and boring gameplay
