Hell yes, I got my refund and bought the gold edition. Apparently the game already downloaded but never gave me a notification. I am already in.

Edit: this is the first game I am immediately liking the film grain setting on because it reminds me of the Star Wars OT prior to HD upgrades

Edit 2: even very early in this is the most vivid recreation of the Star Wars universe in a game ever. By far.

I feel like morally whatever pros the game might have, one shouldn't support Ubisoft as a company, there's way better stuff to give your time and money.

The industry needs to take some hard hits to get better, by playing this you're supporting it staying mediocre.

I'll concede the game just needs a few adjustments to be good, the protag needs a prettier face and it needs less jank, but that's enough for me to want to spend my time elsewhere.

These cinematics are gorgeous and well voice acted. They feel like you're watching a proper Star Wars show or movie.

So far this is one part Uncharted 4, one part Assassin's Creed (insert your favorite entry here), all slathered in Star Wars. Lil bit of Andor thrown in as they're treating these villains as serious and not comical versions of nazis.

nah, I think I'm going to spend my money and time how I feel like it.

Nah, the industry needs consumers who buy games FOR FUN, this is how this works.

If someone thinks its fun, has money and enjoys what they bought, the industry is working as usual.
by playing this you're supporting it staying mediocre.

Then so be it. Fuck you telling me? People should deny playing a game that is fun, solely because its "mediocre" to you? Listen man, not every fucking game needs to reinvent the wheel and I've found companies that even make those claims of adding something so "new" end up failing in the most simplest of areas (ie CP2077 making claims of being the next generation of open world gaming, fails to have Ai drive a fucking car and shoot).

We don't have a fuck ton of games every year seeking to do a host of brand new features, using your logic we'd be buying 1 game a year, at best lol

So what consumers need to do, is buy what ever the fuck they want, spend their time how ever the fuck they want, not this weird virtue signaling shit.

Thats like saying you'll buy the most boring game with zero fun, oh but the developer is soooooo nice to their staff, morally JUST and look at all the "new" features never done before.

(New doesn't always = fun btw, so we can stop acting as if that gimmick is now some new metric everyone should care about, I don't see most of you going nuts for VR so lol)

One thing Ubitsoft should remove with a patch is this dumb lock picking thing

Just no. This is one of the worst blights upon modern games. Just get rid of this dumb shit and never look back. Please.

Edit: my sparsely used PlayStation Pulse headset is charged and connected. Testing out this audio that already sounded great on my surround sound system.

Edit 2: it's fine, but I feel like my normal surround system is actually better

Genuine question for those that have played this and Starfield.

Which game feels better in terms of immersion, space and ground exploration and light rpg?

Starfield is still one of my favourites as a space exploration game (incoming laugh emojis), but way back when this game got announced I thought this is what I'd be playing...

I love Starfield, but this is better. It just doesn’t have the 1000 planets. You have four.

I have 5.2 surround, and yeah, it's always sounded better than the 3D headset audio. I don't get it. Gaming on my PS4 using the Gold headset virtual surround seems more immersive to me than the PS5 headset. Oh well.

I wish this was releasing thursday instead of Friday. I have some games to trade in and would pick it up while grabbing Visions of Mana.

less planets is fine by me. But from the brief reviews/gameplay I've seen of Outlaws, seems like there's several weirdly placed (return to area) invisible walls. Not denying those are not in Starfield, but looks like the "open world" in Outlaws is extremely tight even if you wanted to ever go slightly off path. Is that right?

What's the top 3 things from your perspective to say this is better than starfield?

I can't compare them tbh, this is a star wars thief/rogue/smuggler fantasy; starfield is just...humankind in space, which I like well enough as well, but it's a completely different vibe/mindset.

Put another 4 or so hours into the game today and I stand by my post in the reviews thread. Anyone giving this game a 7 or higher is either on drugs or paid off. This game is fucking trash. The worst implementation of stealth in a game in the last decade, compounded by horrendous AI and numerous glitches that cause stealth failure states -- some as simple as a body part clipping through a texture. The speeder controls, even when upgraded, are horrendous. Space combat is utter shite. How we've gone from a game like Star Wars Squadrons to people praising this makes me wonder what the fuck they've been playing. The space combat in Ubisoft's failed toys-to-life game Starlink was better than this.

Voice acting is awful, the writing is an absolute affront to anyone with any degree of common sense. The "plot" is laughably thin. The fact that Vess can so blatantly lie and people in the world just go "hurr durr okay, move on" is some of the worst shit I've seen in Disney Star Wars this side of Acolyte.

This piece of shit should have been canceled and forgotten.
I didn't think anything would be more soulless and bland than Avatar Frontiers of Pandora.
I was wrong.

I was wrong.

I'm just gonna have a whiney rant purely about stealth so ignore otherwise, it's a bit long..

I got to what is really the first stealth mission proper and I was taking my time to distract guards and take them out 1 by 1.
Then there was one left. One. I was in cover, thinking to myself ah yeah he will round it and I will spam V so it'll do a take down.
Not 0.0000001 seconds after hitting the button (it prompted around the corner), my character leaves cover, lifts her arm and [MISSION FAILED] instantly.

Why? Who's the dude gonna alert? How's he going to alert?
What happened to the (?) marker before they get alerted? It's one thing to make a stealth game with failures that make sense but this is harsh in design.

You have to give players a bit of leeway when being spotted by an enemy that cannot conceivably alert anyone.
It's not realistic and it's not even arcade like, it's just shit design pure and simple and I'm not sorry to say yeah, some devs absolutely suck at design, they're not all perfect and they need to be criticised rightly.
It's like a bad mechanic or plumber or electrician or cook, you do a shit job I don't care if your working conditions are shit, my working conditions were/are shit (in fact I will put money down to say mine are worse than any 1st world dev and I don't even get paid for it) we're all in the shit. (I mean I get it, devs are a cog in a complex work of many and what I described are in solo/small teams) but if your job
is to design a stealth system for a stealth game, then look at what's out there.

Honestly I've played games decades older that do it better.
Also no better timing but NakeyJakey made a vid a few days before the release haha, he's got it spot on for stealth games as a whole, it couldn't be more perfect an example of how it should be done.

Btw if I get bullshit like that I just use a cheat programs to make myself invisible to get back to the same location because the save system is garbage tier shit doo doo, I've never seen the manual save ever come up.
I'm told you can't do it in a mission but I've permanently been "in a mission"? Also I have a lot of priorties in real life that basically make me either idle the game or lose a lot of progress.

At least it's not all my progress after 3 days like the PS5 debacle.
WoW make mobs harder after early access and now needing to make a new game in this, what next in the big world of AAA gaming and pre-orders that cost x3 the base game or something?
Paying to beta? No, that couldn't possibly happen. (sorry let's keep this star wars outlaws related though).

I believe when it says do not get caught, you just get caught when spotted up close since that instantly turns them hostile, and you're not allowed to start combat at all because it generally happens in areas where you can't even aim your gun or throw grenades, just punch; there's also do not sound the alarm, and with that one you can actually get spotted, and straight up get in a shoot out, as long as you quickly resolve the situation.

i'm still very early in, & while i continue to enjoy the game, i find it impossible to not agree with the above. to the extent this's the same ubisoft that makes the assassin's creed series, one of the defining stealth series in gaming? it's surprisingly amateurish & unpolished. hell, i remember stealth in massive's own the division being better than this. it's unfortunate, it really detracts from the experience, & hell if i know how something this much of a step backwards managed to make it out into the wild. dated & unnecessary...

Okay. Put some more time into the game, I can finally say I'm actually enjoying it. But it had a terrible first impression.

Some things I learned:

It's a stealth game with bad stealth mechanics.

Nix is provided specifically to be OP as hell in stealth. He mitigates bad stealth mechanics.

Use nix to steal alarm radios from officers, sabotage alarms, blow stuff up, and bite everyone's faces.

The reputation system is used for 1 thing, gaining deeper access to faction layers so you can rob them blind.

Focus on ability gathering, because this game has far too many abilities that should be given to the player by default, hidden behind arbitrary boundaries.

Technical stuff:
Turn off frame gen. And possibly ray reconstruction. It was causing a memory leak. Over time the game would run out of allowable memory and the graphics scaling would absolutely freak out about an hour in. Everyone would look like wet mannequins without eyebrows.

Once I understood the reputation system and that Nix is more capable than the protagonist, I started having a lot more fun with it.

Just like the good ol days. Splinter Cell 1 total 😂
I don't remember hiw random was sp1 tbh.

All the systems feels random in here:

Sometimes nix attract people from afar, sometimes he doesn't, sometimes they go half way and turn back.

Ko animations are different so you don't know what she is gonna pick, and they have different lenght so if you need a fast takedown because an enemy is approaching, she is just gonna use whatever she want.

Sometimes you get discovered and only alarm the 3-4 enemies close to you, sometimes you alert the entire base (this is before they sound the alarm)

Sometimes enemies can't see you from up close, sometimes they see you from afar

Sometimes the shock shot to make them sleep doesn't alert anyone sometimes it alerts other enemies.

Stealth need consistency, and this game has the consistency of my penis in ice cold water after watching a porn with gorlok the destroyer.

Even the super op nix usage can't hide the randomness.

Nix is the only reason this moron is considered capable, it does 90% of the job alone :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

I genuinely think the stealth part of this game might be the worst thing about it.

The game is so much more fun just running and gunning, what a shame they messed up the way secondary weapons work though, who in their right mind thought that was a good idea?

The game has got some underwhelming reviews from my favourite sites. Can someone with positive opinions sell me on this game? I love Star Wars and the games are so few in the Disney era that I'll happily eat crumbs.

If you still LOVE star wars universe after the disney treatment, you are probably gonna close an eye on the many flaws.

There is not much else comparable to this game if you just want an immersive star wars open world.

'Love' is a bit too strong. I mostly think that the only good things to have come out of it are Rogue One, The Mandalorian and Andor. Oh and the first season of Tales of the Jedi. The Japanese animes are pretty cool. Respawn's games are very good too. But I think I can close an eye on the flaws. I love when a game is immersive and it's something I've seen mentioned with Outlaws often. I'll likely wait a few months so that all kinks and bugs are ironed out though. Some said Jedi Survivor had plenty of those, but when I got to it this month there were none.

The jedi games had more shit performance than being overly buggy, but as everything with pc gaming, it's totally random.

I’m over 12 hours in and still on Toshara 😬

Got my ship and all but I gotta help out these Pykes and get some goodies.

Pro tip: Go after the Slicer sidequests early to unlock her skills as it includes:

Nobody should give their money to Ubisoft based solely on moral principles which have nothing do with this game.

Hey I'd rather take 4 pretty and handcrafted planets than a 1000 planets generated by a shitty proc-gen algorythm.

I haven't had entire bases go on alert yet, and I've gotten in multiple shootouts within them, they seem to have a pretty limited range of how far they can hear, but there does seem to be some kind of chain reaction where if one enemy spots another enemy going on alert, they go on alert too.
Sometimes enemies can't see you from up close, sometimes they see you from afar
enemies that are on lookout or have sniper rifles seem to be able to see much farther then regular

No no i'm talking about base enemies, the whole system feels totally random to me, and i cleared a COUNTLESS amount of enemy camps in what feel like the past 100+ open world games so i have a little bit of experience to put it mildy.

For the alarm, like i said it feels random, sometimes you can kill the 3-4 enemies in the area but sometimes the whole base is alerted even if there are only a couple of enemies in front of me.
I don't know how the internal systems work, but the player should feel consistency during stealth, especially this game with dogshit autosaves and immediate fail state, the stealth mechanics should feel pristine.

Like tsushima had dogshit stealth, but it felt more consistent than this tbh, i have no fucking idea how this game has worse stealth than ac games and worse action and controls tham division while being made by ubisoft.

Oh and the fucking speeder has a super annoying auto-center camera option that is terrible and can't be disabled, other than that it doesn't feel half bad other than when you have to turn in a small space, i guess the upgrades are gonna solve that.

I didn't realize ubisoft plus with new game is only for PC?

On the PS store there's only "ubisoft+classics" and it doesn't list this game as part of it.

Guess I won't be playing at all. The idea of paying $100 to play today, or $70 tomorrow...yeah no I'm good.

You are not losing much dude.

This is a 30 dollars top game if you are big on star wars, way less if not.

So I bought the game physically from Amazon and was supposed to be release-day delivery tomorrow. I was charged and shipped on Tuesday. But now says Saturday delivery. Amazon customer service sucks and they couldn't give me any reason why.....even though if I were to place a new order today....would still be a Friday delivery. And I can't cancel because it's shipped.

Soooo, I went ahead and bought it digitally and installed it yesterday. I moved to New Zealand this morning but had to go to work at 6:00am. When I get home, in New Zealand, will I be able to play the game, even though the release day is tomorrow? Made sense as Amazon may not even deliver until late Saturday and then take most of the evening to install, with my shitty internet. Most likely I wouldn't get to play until Sunday morning.

Now that I have it installed digitally I am hoping I can play it later today since I am now in New Zealand. (then I'll return the Amazon copy Tuesday)
