The hate this game is getting is completely un-warrented,
The atmosphere, attention to detail and gameplay are great fun.

Sure it has some slightly weird elements, stealth is fine and the combat is a little awkward, but moment to moment gameplay is fun in its own context.

Im really enjoying it,
Have it on Ubi Plus but just got a PS5 copy waiting for Cross save to be unlocked.

Is Fast animations like an option to speed up the game? Is it in the option menu?
L2/LT when in a game of it.

Ive noticed this really weird lens distortion they have going on where details in the mid ground are like blurred or doubled?

Sort of looks like upscaling artefacts but its still there when you turn them all off, just look at moving characters in the mid distance when your standing still.

So strange.

Set lens effects to low on pc, it turn all the shitty camera effects off.

Before i try and fuck up my reputation, how does stealing from trusted syndacates works?

If they trust i can enter their base and steal stuff, but do i get bad rep for stealing or they have to catch me with the hands in the honey jar?

Like i can just steal stuff and don't have any repercussion if i don't get caught?

If you can get away with it you’re fine.

What I did was have the reputation high enough (past Good) so if I did fuck up it wouldn’t drop down to Poor.

Last night, I stole the ion blaster from the group I was 'good' with. I could walk around most of their base fine, but the area with the part I needed was restricted and the game became regular stealth. I got spotted twice before I cleared it, and both times the guards tossed me out (but I just around and walked right back in with them and tried again). The game said my rep went down each time, but it was still in the 'good' area and it doesn't seem to have affected anything meaningful.

Does the game do instant fail states for stealth missions when you are spotted? I drop games real quick when I see that happening.

Yup, but they eventually become much easier due to skill upgrades for yourself and Nix. Only early on can they become a hassle, but if you're well versed in this type of stealth it really isn't so bad.

I have no issues sneaking in and out of places right now. Im double crossing like a motherfucker and it feels pretty badass. Playing all these clans like a fiddle.

Also Kay isnt THAT bad. What I do like about her is her Solo-esque "I only care about the money. I only care about getting paid. How much is it worth to you?" attitude.

Don't worry about fucking up rep. You can always fix it by running contracts for them.

Are y’all playing in 21:9 or 16:9? Did you tweak FOV?

Settled on 16:9 full screen and FOV 100

(playing on PS5 on Quality 40fps mode)

no they have to see you, you can steal stuff right in front of them as long as their backs are turned.

Also that's what syndicate data is for, you keep them in your inventory so you can give it to an affiliated merchant to boost your rep again if needed, no need to run a contract.

Oh btw, the game has a combat roll if you press circle twice, i don't think the game ever tells you that.

It doesnt. There's a bunch of stuff the game explains completely shittily if at all.

Discovered the dodge roll last night. Real good for getting between cover during the stealth sections.

I bet you don't know that you can kinda double jump to pass some obstacles if you press the aim button while in the air after the first jump.

Yep. This is super useful info. I have my Crimson Dawn rep at Terrible. It's so low that they have sent death squads after me so I'll occasionally run into them out in the open world and wipe them out :messenger_grinning_squinting:

What my goal is before I leave Toshara is to have have excellent rep with all three so then I can really start fucking with all of them without much consequence. Thing is when you rep is at the lowest, the chances you'll get a contract for them through a non syndicate broker is super slim. That's were the data comes in. I found some ship merchant data in some base that I completely forgot about until I decided to visit the Crimson Dawn black market dealer in Mirogana and saw that he was looking for it. BAM. Now contracts will open, even if the rep is Bad or Poor.

Game is good fun.

Have any of you fought a Death Trooper squad yet? :messenger_grimmacing_

Basically what happens after you hit the max wanted level.

I feel like playing the way you people play completely defeat the purpose of the rep system tbh.

I knew that the system was probably very wide but one inch deep as usual with ubisoft open world mechanics, but getting all the rewards and having good rep from all the syndicates just sound wrong.

The game tells you that it might be better to hold on to syndicate data, of course you can just use it if you want, but it's there to get you out of a pinch; different factions will also give different rep amounts based on what the data is, so just randomly giving it to one faction might not be a great idea either.

In any case when it comes down to it, you're playing an outlaw, and it's very in-universe flavour to be able to play all sides if you're good at it, it wouldn't make much sense if the faction knew what you did against them if you were never detected/exposed/double crossed; this doesn't mean it always works out though, since some actions/contracts/mission will lower the rep of one faction vs another

I was talking in general, not about the data thing.

I don't know, having good rep with everyone just sound wrong, i wanna live with the conseguence of my choices and not having access to something because i find a faction better than another, it's a role play thing.

Having good rep with everyone diminish the syndacates dark aura, they are basically a bunch of morons that i can trick as i want and get all the rewards from them, how i suppose to take these cretins seriously? and kay is not exactly credible as a double crossing smooth talker, she can't even lie convincingly without sounding like the worst liar in the universe every single time.

She's not exactly tricking or lying to them, they simply don't know what she did because they aren't psychic, this is also why certain things do lower the opposite faction rep because she gets exposed while doing it, they have no reasonable way of knowing of her actions otherwise

I still don't buy it that a noob outlaws can get away with 3-4 different syndacates, it completely deminish their aura if every idiot can trick all of them, how the fuck they survived until now?

And the game made immediately clear that secrets are hard to keep in this outlaws world, wakka know exactly about the death mark and everyone seems to know everything about key when she arrive in the city, but somehow she can play like fiddles all these syndacates and nobody in the city can see her doing double or triple cross...cmon, if i buy the logic that the boss can't be mad at her without physically seeing her doing bad stuff, you have to buy that bosses probably have spies all around the city that would tell the boss when key enter their private zones from places full of npcs that can see her.

If the city was a desert without npcs...maybe, but it's a "living, breathing world" , there is no way she can get away with this bullshit if it was real.

It's not a big deal because i already imagoned tjis was the case with ubisoft, i just hoped that the system was more deep than ac odissey and fighting for grece and sparta at the same time without repercussion.

I do not know what some of you are talking about that this game looks outstanding? everything looks slightly blurry and muddy. people look weird and the textures are quite low. overall it doesn't look great for the art style its going for.

She's not exactly a "noob", she was taught to be a thief from a very young age by an extremely good one, and of course she's the main character of the game, so essentially "the chosen one".
And again she isn't tricking them, in fact the cases where you actually have to lie/bluff in the game can wind up failing and losing rep, they simply have no way of knowing you snuck in somewhere if you were never detected/exposed and the idea that these factions that hate each other are constantly just talking about kay with each other is even more ridiculous.

The death mark situation is a bit different because that's a bounty, so people will naturally start talking about it because they are trying to find the bounty and eventually it becomes public information, which is how kay confirms it herself on the ship; you can later find her wanted posters on different planets too.

It's very uneven but it has its moments when you walk aroumd the city or with the speedster, it's definitely not cyberpunk or avatar level of graphic, that's for sure.

If i didn't knew better and you have told me that horizon fw is a crossgen from 3 years ago and this is fully nextgen i would have laughed in your face.

On series x doing the ubisoft+ route a few hours in just in the open world now and kinda digging it. Gameplay is blah as expected, but liking the visuals and exploring and the general feel so far. I kinda doubt it will keep me engaged and see myself getting bored and rushing at s ok me point.

I gave up on perf mode and forced myself to get used to 30fps quality same as it was with Gotg and suggest others do the same. Perf is just way too low resolution and soft and and it ruins the look imo. Not exactly fast paced so far anyways.

Tip: Turn down the overall brightness to -5. Went from a 7 to a 9 in graphics for me. Big difference.

So far the game is a 6.5 / 10 for me.

Enjoying it for the most part but the stealth stuff is making me furious with how much I hate it.

She act like a moron in 2 occassions in the first 2 hours so she probably skipped half the classes :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

Like i said, it's not a big deal.

It's an extremely vocal minority who make hating on anything Disney related a large part of their identity. It's actually been kind of funny to witness with this game, especially dudes calling the lead character ugly. Hah

What's the beef with the lockpicking game? All one gotta do is to time the clicks which rarely takes more than 30 seconds for me.. maybe it's easier with the mouse when the lag is low?

Now the "wordle" equivalent hacking game is a little bit frustrating. For some reason once you get a correct symbol in position it locks it immediately and doesn't allow me to cycle through all the symbols. I now got to the point where I will be getting upgrades for hacking so maybe it's the reason why early game hacking is hard, but still frustrating.

PS. We need a Nyx appreciation thread. Don't miss on a robot-cooked dinner in the first city that's all I'm sayin'

early hacking is "harder" because you have to guess more, though you can always back out and try again an unlimited amount of times; when you get some slicing upgrades it becomes much easier since you'll stop having to guess so much.

I personally just think it's pointless. Like back in the day such constant mini games felt like they enriched games that were having to try and build an experience with like 128 MB of RAM and a CPU that was weaker than a G2 iPhone's. They now, to me, feel like a relic.

But if anyone enjoys them I won't knock them for it. Glad for them. They're just not for me.

Edit:

Man this open world is treacherous. I almost flew into a canyon after taking screenshots of some kind of big space cow

Edit 2:

Now that I back on my main TV and in the starting city, the use of surround sound in this game is truly impressive. I am constantly hearing sounds, banter, whatever, from all angles and even from the DualSense controller. This is awesome

Ok. I am confused about slicing terminals. The instructions in the game are shit.

Also, just pay attention to the light on the data spikes. Screw the rhythm.

I turned off all that slicing bullshit too

Especially for one of the Slicer expert skills, you need to be able to unlock three of them in no more than three tries.

Fuck that I said
