The Amazing Spider-Man - CAM Trailer

Looks pretty decent.

Finally, Doug Heder from Activision and Gerard Lehiany from Beenox announced that they are developing a game to coincide with the movie The Amazing Spider-Man. The game returns to the open world style of prior Spidey games. A trailer showed that off quite a bit, as well as a massive robotic enemy. It drew huge applause, and they even played it a second time for the fans.

A brief discussion on how the game development process in working with Marvel followed, with developers noting how the characters are rich, and they're able to each do their own takes on the same characters, while still allowing them to feel like the ones from the comics. They all said how much they love that their jobs give them an excuse to read comics on a regular basis.

The highlight of the fan Q&A was Amazing Spider-Man comic book writer Dan Slott coming to the mic to ask a couple of questions. He asked the Beenox team if there will be alternate suits, which they said they can't answer yet.

I'm not disappointed in a "game's gonna suck" kinda way, but after that Mirror's Edge-inspired trailer to the movie, I was really hoping they'd make this a first-person action game. It'd be a challenge, but the series needs something new.

Was hoping for the same.

In Beenox I trust!

They are doing good work, enjoyed Shattered Dimensions, looking into Edge of Time, now this

I want to believe it could be good, but I've never liked any of the crappy double licensed games (comic, movie = video game). Mainly because they try to pepper comic mythology with the crappy movie plot; but can't ruin the crappy movie plot by giving the story away - so I end up with a bunch of half baked crap.

Spiderman 1 on the PS was great.
Ultimate Spiderman on the PS2 is great.

Hopefully this will not suck.

Daaaammmnnn, Activision stepping their game up!

Looks like a HD PS1 game

What the hell kind of PS1 were you playing on??! I remember ps1 games looking like this

Looks okay for a brief teaser. I just hope they take the swinging from Spider-Man 2 and the combat from Ultimate and try to just build on that.

Seems like they had a team working on it for over a year.

Also from Newsarama

I liked Shattered Dimensions, but it looks like Beenox kept all the things I liked about it out of Edge of Time. (it's style and fanservice)
Another open-world Spidey game could be nice. Hopefully Beenox has improved the webswinging.

Hopefully this is why edge of time sucked, and the only reason they put it out was because bobby was threatening to slap there shit.

And I have no faith in movie tie in games anyway.

Spider-man 2 was a movie tie in, and that is arguably the best spider-man game.

Kinda rubs me up the wrong way to be honest.

3 spiderman games in 3 years....it just feels like franchise whoring.

And I have no faith in movie tie in games anyway.

I still love web-swinging. It's my favorite method of travel in video games.

Web swinging kicks ass!!

Also, the new movie suit looks better in this game than it does in the live-action promos and trailer.

If Beenox can keep their attention to fan-service, great-writing, awesome character models, and general creativity...

with the combat of Web of Shadows...

and the web-swinging of Spider-Man 2...

GOTY

So has Beenox had a seperate team working on this game or something? Edge of Time only just came out and they already have a trailer for their next Spider-Man game.

Yes they have a team working on it for over a year.

Not to mention, Edge of Time was like a DLC expansion. One year was hardly enough time for a good sequel as that proved. This seems even more rushed. They should have been focusing solely on this game.

Looked liked there was no physics involved.
Him swinging at 200mph & then immediately comes to a dead stop on a pole.

I betting this game will be as shitty as Spider-Man 3. I think I'll pass.

Good thinking. You're an amazing analyst to call something shitty based on a 59 sec trailer that also happen to have a year of development time left.

Cautiously optimistic. I didn't expect Spider-Man 2 to be good and what a surprise that turned out to be. I hope for the same here.

Looks good as long we get classic costumes. Haven't played the last two spidey games because of the focus on brawling but this looks like it could be fun.

Nice, now I'm cautiously optimistic.

I'm not going to call a game with nine months of development time left rushed, but I do agree it would have been better if they had the whole team work on this game. Though I can see them releasing one Spidey game a year being a decision from Activision though, so I don't really blame them for making a bad/mediocre side-game to fill the gap.

Spider-Man 2 only had good web slinging.

The rest was crap.

This. Outside of the thrill of web-slinging mindlessly, the actual game was terrible.

Still, really loved the variety on display in Shattered Dimensions and I am optimistic that Beenox can deliver a more fruitful game experience to an open-environment.

So Edge of Time was shat out while true development was poured into this simultaneously? Really wish they didn't bother, Edge of Time seems to be serving little purpose beyond fucking with the reputation of the brand.
