That's the most meh console reveal of all time. Literally just "here's our new Switch which is exactly like the old Switch but a tiny bit different".

And if that game is MK9, it also looks exactly like MK8.

Incredibly underwhelming, honestly.

They'd better have a killer Mario game coming soon, IMO.

Doesn't matter in the grand scheme though... will sell like hotcakes.

A part of me wonders if they will want to keep him on board "essentially" retired but for the optics of having the Legend there.

Like a you were too successful to let go home type deal. You can, but there will be ninjas there to carry you back for a press release.

They're gonna freeze him in carbonite like Walt fucking Disney and let kids gawk at him on a Super Nintendo World ride.

So, assuming that the BotW remaster is real, would it be expected to look like the 2015 teaser now?

Or would that be too much of an overhaul? I assume they must’ve put ant least some effort into it if they’re bothering with a remaster when the system is B/C.

That's what I was wondering. Graphically it looks almost identical to MK8DX, but that looks like a new track?

Is this Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Deluxe? lol.

It's Mario Kart 8 Double D's.

I don’t think the remaster is real. Nintendo is more likely to do a definitive edition. How much sales would they be expecting for a remaster, when BotW is still selling and also BC! 🤷‍♂️

With that type of upgrade graphics it’s more likely to be in new Zelda.

I’d be super surprised if it doesn’t happen at this point given the codename leaks, that have all been spot on thus far.

Wind Waker HD got quite an overhaul so it’s not impossible.

I see all these arguments everywhere on the price.

I DO NOT think Nintendo knows the price yet. I think they are waiting to see on tariffs, I am sure they have a target price, but are unsure of global changes taking place.

Finally caught up on the thread.

Well I had kinda hoped for the announcement of the new console to have been via a Direct showing off the system and games, so of course this was a bit dissappointing.

It seems people are happy that it's a continuation of the Switch but I've always loved that Nintendo always does something unexpected.

Either way as long as they announce a new 3D Mario I'll be there to buy it. Hope they have more 3D platformers such as Donkey Kong in the works. An announcement of expanding online to include Gamecube games would also be cool. Been playing Paper Mario 64 using the Switch and been having an amazing time.

I got an email to sign up for the hands-on experience of it. I was considering it but yea doesn't feel like something I have to go and see.
I signed up for the one in Paris. With my luck I won't get selected, but I doubt I'll have better stuff to do on a Sunday morning anyway.

Yeah exactly. I don't see the big selling point.

Funny too considering how many complain TotK was too much the same game as BotW.

This time though, it comes from a retailer named Newegg. On their site, you can find a listing for an eShop gift card. The gift card mentions the new Mario Kart game that Nintendo announced, but for some reason, they also mentioned a “3D Mario” and a “Legend of Zelda remake/remaster”.

Sounds promising. Hope the Zelda one is Windwaker

i wouldn't mind ocarina and majora's mask collection , i have not played them only recently picked up a 2ds to try them out but wouldn't mind seeing them on a big screen with some enhancements.

i hope they bring over nds and 3ds games to the online service saves them needing full on remakes and they would work i mean emulators can play 3ds and nds games shouldnt be an issue with the switch espically in docked mode if you uses one of the joycon and a stylus.

No official remaster could hold a candle to what you can do nowadays with an emulator and custom textures and shaders. If they know where the money is at, they'll make a full remake of OoT on a completely different engine, with larger fields, revamped combat, re-imagined dungeons, etc. (hey, a man can dream, can't he?)

I wouldn’t expect that to be anything but the rumored BotW Remaster. Get ready for disappointment.

Imagine that and with A Link to the Past remake similar to Link's Awakening. It'd be a collection that'd make me consider purchasing Switch 2 day one. :messenger_open_mouth:

My only worry is its going to be pain in the ass to pre-order before getting sold out.

the initial announcement was pretty luke warm for me. way different vibe from og switch which was exciting ? I was basically ready with the cash for one sitting here and now im like well its something. Will have to see if the april 2nd reveal actually garners interest from me, because if its just it plays all these games that I can play elsewhere then its meh.

Sight of relief as a physical collector for the Switch

Serious question since I haven't had a Nintendo system in ages :
How do they treat BC ? Meaning, will Switch 1 games run better (framerate/resolution) on the 2 or will we have to buy the switch 2 "hd remaster" version of a game?

For example, will BOTW now run at 60fps or just at a-not-shit, stable 30fps ?

Edit : when will we have more news on the hardware and upcoming games?

No one knows outside of it being hardware compatible, so the carts will just natively work. As far as benefits, we'll see soon! April 2nd we should find out this information I'd imagine.

No one really knows, Nintendo are a bit strange with their BC in the past, game boy games on the DS had black bars around them, you needed a gamecube memory card and a gamecube controller for the Wii BC instead of using the wii hardware and the Wii U needed a Wii mode, so its been all over the place. Its not all odd I remember the 3DS being good for DS games.

Will they upgrades, or will it be a half hearted attempt at BC? we will just need to wait and see.
