Though certain games won't be compatible. I wonder how many and which ones.

From what we've heard it seems like the IR sensor isn't there, which would make it incompatible with like... two games? 1-2-Switch and Ring Fit Adventure I believe.

Edit: It's a few more it seems. But overall a very poorly utilized feature.

I was going to post guessing it was something like this too. Hopefully the majority is there, just not some titles with unique control requirements

No console is immune to negative reactions, I still think switch 2 has character but it must endure the negative reactions.

Games that rely on any baked in Switch 1 features like the IR port on the right joycon.

Every BC system gets a handful of those games. Can't even play some GBA games in a GBA SP because the cart slot is upside-down and the cart has tilt detection. Just finicky cases like that. I'm sure everything that's a normal game will be fine.

Marketing surely has changed a lot for gaming companies.
A new console trailer is shadow dropped and it's the opposite of inspiring.
The design is pretty much the same but bigger, it seems the only new feature is the mouse-like functionality of the controller.
They're suggesting that a remaster or expanded version of the current Mario Kart for Switch (looking at pretty much the same graphics) will be a showcase title.
It's basically a mid gen refresh.

It is practically the same system. Hopefully it doesn't happen like Wii-U.
I swear the problem might not even be missing a "2" or whatever on the label. Average Joe might just go in the store, sees the damn thing, and thinks "well I've had something like that for the past 8 years or so, I want something different" and that's that.

Yeah thats why the WiiU was such a success
Released over 12 years ago. Switch is now one of the best selling consoles of all time, this just looks like a variant of the same thing. People will eat this up, and have been anticipating it for a long time.

it's a new system or the old one? they could implement the functionality

No they can't. It functions the same as the original. Docked is like 3TF, handheld is like 1TF. it switches to a different processing mode when docked/undocked.

That would also break backwards compatibility.
