The PS5 Pro shipping and delivery thread

Mine has shipped today here in the UK and I have tomorrow and Friday off work for a full-on extended Pro weekend session.

The only thing I want to know now is if I can just pop my 2 TB WD NVMe M.2 SSD stick from my PS5 into the Pro with the games pre-installed. I will transfer the stuff from the internal storage onto my 4 TB SSD drive to restore onto the Pro. I have also read that it is possible to transfer stuff from the PS5 to the Pro via a cable too. I was thinking about getting a 4 TB NVMe drive for the Pro if this is possible so I have plenty of storage. I was always a bit frustrated with the PS5 as only 2.5 GB was usable with the internal 2 TB drive so I was always having to move stuff around for updates and even to record game footage.

Yes you can switch the M.2 over and the games will be there, the only question mark is some people are saying you have to set the pro up first and sign into your account before installing the SSD otherwise it will format it.

Although I have heard that you setup your account on the pro first. Then add in the ssd and/or drive

Its fine to just use the old power cable and HDMI surely? I really can't be bothered to go in behind my TV and near the dusty nightmare that is my extension leads.

The HDMI ports on my TV have already taken a pounding from the time when I was trying to figure out why I couldn't get 5.1 audio out of my Nintendo Switch through the ARC port, it turns out that it doesn't support 5.1 PCM through ARC, only eARC*, so I needed to connect the Switch directly to my soundbar to get 5.1.

*Even then apparently you must select "Automatic" for the audio output and not "Surround Sound" like you'd think, bizarre.


Sounds more like a TV issue to me, I'm able to get 5.1 out of Switch on a Samsung QN900B and QN900D without directly going though a soundbar. My switch goes through a RetroTink 4K and a HDMI 2.1 switch.

I have a preorder at Target for shipping, but it says it’ll be here next week. Not sure how accurate that is. I wonder the chances of walking in day 1 and getting one.

Don't think I'll be getting it tomorrow, but fingers crossed for Friday.

John Lewis have royally screwed mine up. They're now unable to confirm a delivery date and have told me its delayed by at least 24hrs. Stuck now as they are refusing to refund me and unable to confirm when it will ship. Fucking mess. I've raised a complaint. Never again.
Damn that sucks. A few people on other forums are getting delayed emails as well from JL.

Sorry to hear that, hopefully you will get it on Friday or Saturday at the latest. I will not be able to properly get set up until Friday anyway due to work on Thursday :-(

Thanks guys. Yeah I'll roll with the delay. But I'm going to be chasing JL via complaints with how badly they've handled it. I'll be pushing for some good will gesture via the complaints process. I'll be honest, long term I'm still keen to get it from them simply due to the 2 year warranty.

Lemme know if they offer you anything, their delivery does say "next or named day delivery" so I'd not expect anything from them. I ordered with JL for the extra year warranty and also woke up to an email this morning saying it'll be Friday. Not the end of the world for me as long as it's before the weekend.

😭 I'm so jealous😭

Im moving soon and have so many expenses I can't justify the ps5 pro. It's the first playstation console I've not bought day one ever, going back to ps1.

I already have a ps5 gathering dust and I mostly play on pc (4070ti/5800x3d) so it doesn't make sense.....but I want one so bad😅
 
Can you transfer everything from the PS5 to the PS5 Pro using an ethernet cable or even USB-C cable for the fastest speed? All I can find it how to transfer it via Wi-Fi where both are on the same network.

I've just bought a 4 TB WD NVMe SSD for my Pro today from Amazon for delivery later tonight and currently have a 2 TB WD NVMe SSD in my PS5. I want to transfer everything from the PS5 to the Pro, which would mean moving from console storage on the PS5 (around 525 GB) to the console storage on the Pro, plus the games on the PS5's 2 TB drive moved to the Pro's 4 TB drive.

Same network means either Wi-Fi or ethernet cable so it looks like the answer is yes. Cable is obviously going to be much faster since despite having a 940 Mbps down and 180 Mbps up fibre connection, my PS5 usually maxes out at around 300 Mbps on Wi-Fi despite the router being in the same room. PS5 has a max LAN transfer speed of 850 Mbps (106.25 MB/sec) apparently.

Mine doesn't say Friday. Mine says its been delayed by 24 hrs and when I spoke to them, they said a new delivery day would have to be arranged. As for what happens with any good will gesture, that will be between me and JL. But I disagree with your take.
 
Currys have despatched and it will be here tomorrow. I've got to go into the office tomorrow and have a work social event in the evening. I'll probably only get time to transfer all my stuff over from my base PS5 to the Pro late tomorrow evening. No gaming for me until Friday evening I assume.

When I think back to the awful pre order experience with PS back in September and now how JL have behaved after having my money for 3 weeks. I genuinely wish I had never pre ordered at all. I bet I could walk into a store tomorrow and pick one up instead of the faffing I've gone through and continuing to go through. Still, all part of the journey. You live and learn. And we'll get there.

Yeah mine said 24 hours too. Release date Thursday, 24 hours later is Friday. You seem to have taken what I said in a negative light. Not my intention but you do you.

Same here, are you able to VIP your delivery mine is bloody greyed out so can’t upgrade to a guaranteed morning delivery.

Yeah fair enough, don't get me wrong it's certainly put a downer on my morning. I actually agree with you that they're feckin' useless and definitely should hold their hands up on this, they've had way more than enough time to make sure things went smoothly. I'm definitely not on JL's side, I'm just meant because of the wording on their order info that they may try to wiggle out of any wrong doing. Hopefully they get their shit together and at least some people get their pros tomorrow.
 
DHL Express (In Germany) gave me hope and took it away pretty fast. It said delivery today 6th but that changed to the 7th tomorrow.

Still need to finish my impossible run on DS Remake anyway for the Plat. Can't wait.

I go thru moments that I want to get this, then I see the comparisons and it kills my excitement, so likely skipping, plenty of stock if i change my mind.

As a side note, your post took me back to the super shitty bad ol' COVID days that each one of us went through, good God what a shit-show that was, lockdowns, with everyone staying cooped up inside our personal jail homes everyday, being depended on the fucking couriers (which got bogged down due to the insurmountable traffic) and if a delivery got fucked up, you had to spend HOURS trying to get a hold with customer support - I still remember the hours that I lost on the phone as to refund a Sony XH900 and an Xbox joypad amongst other things, it was pure hell mate...

Lesson learned I suppose , don't ever preorder again from the same dudes friend.

Thanks man. Yeah I went through new TV hell during the pandemic. I had delivered and returned 3 x 80+ inch TV's which was a nightmare. My frustration with JL is that I don't know at this time when it will actually be delivered (we're assuming it might be Friday, but we dont actually know). And despite it not having shipped and them keeping my money for 3 weeks, they wont give me my money back. But they may yet come good with the complaint. We'll see. I'll be damned if I go through this shit again though (thinking of the September pre order bollocks too).
