Isn't it the hypnosis ritual that everyone goes through that restricts their Cantus usage? Any kid who grows up outside of their society would potentially have abilities similar to a fiend's.

Ive been rewatching it. It has a good soundtrack and occasionally good comedy with strong cast of unique and funny side characters.

Death feedback is encoded on the genetic level and reinforced through hypnotic suggestion, as explained by the false minoshiro in episode 4, but neither are foolproof. Fiends are immune to death feedback both genetically and psychologically, as per Tomiko's flashback.

Yeah, thanks for the replies. I ended up watching the first two episode and it was funny and charming as hell. The characters actions are quite different from any other Shojou Anime out there and the way they try to engage in relationship is alien to me, but fun nonetheless. I especially like how they manage to stay friend with so many problems occurring between them.
It really fun and I really enjoyed those two Ep. Also, the Art is super impressive. Could have better animation, bu its gorgeous to look at.

Always want to watch the show because SRW, finally get around to it.. pretty good so far.
I watched some mecha stuff at our college anime club. I've seen a fuckload of stuff in all kinds of genres, not just cute.
I cant remember all of it really, but several of my friends were huge mech fans and so I was exposed to a lot of anime in the genre.
You are in for a treat if you are liking the series so far.

Great Episode! Part A having Giroro doing something embarrassing, which always gets a laugh. Part B was amazing, the K-Phone was just a brilliant idea, being a phone that can literally do anything, including invasion. The writers must've had a lot of fun writing that one.

Figured we'd get an episode like this given the slow shift of portraying the Vagan. Gone from faceless space monsters to warmongers to folk that just want to go home again. Aside from that it's like the usual "adults can only wage war, only kids can understand the other side" sort of thing. At any rate, I see why they did the Shanalua stuff when they did now as the dying girl felt like the other half to it so Kio could experience both sides.

Utterly unbelievable and was not what I even signed up for for this half of the anime. Of course it just had to be one of my characters. I keep watching anime and reading stories and am at a loss why writers must insist on writing stories in such a way to be so painful and cruel to fans of key important characters. Why cant everyone you know always succeed and be victorious? Winning characters are the very foundation to good story telling and are key to making us feel good. I want to feel good and be left with good memories of it, not be filled with sorrow and consistently thinking of these for days, weeks, and months to come.
The music used during both battle moments this episode was really really amazing and fitting. I think my favorite two tracks on the ost, assuming this one gets one as well.

Ultimately, I wanted this instead of this. If only that one mistake wasn't made I would have finally got them to team up and such. I will never be able to forget this moment which is probably up there for the most memorable moments I can think of in anime for quite some time. He was so close even and went out in such an epic and flashy light show that made him all awesome. That onslaught of cool bubbles attacks made the entire anime just plain worth it and everything. Caesar honestly became one of my favorite parts of this anime and he was just so phenomenal even. Just that one mistake and when the narrator said it, I was like oh no, and started to tear up, and then when he weakly and feebly tried to attack back, and then when he screamed his precious Joseph's name as he went out dying and then Joseph screaming out his name too and neither responding back, it was just too much. If only he could have answered or got up some way, but then the stone fell and crushed him sealing it and then the moments of tears and tears. I don't think Ill be able to look at screencaps of the moment without tearing up. To me, Caesar will forever live on and grant me a good end (unless theres a revival ripple?).

Being a hero in a Gundam show always has it's downsides.
I do love the Gundam Legilis. IMO one of the very few good designs in AGE.
