Not as good the second time around.Hyouka did things with KyoAnis animation and the very language of film that would make Walt Disney and D.W. Griffith bleed from their brains

Even though I should continue to watch Gintama, I have been stricken with this deep desire to watch through Rave Master again. I realized this isn't healthy, but I cannot control my impulses!
I don't think I'm going to participate in the "lewd avatar" thing.
Why would you watch bad anime than the good one?
Lewd avatars month? Guess I can join in too.
But you're in on it every month!
What about dtl avatar month?
I personally would prefer SDBurton avatar month.
Wow, there's a lot of background stuff I didn't notice. I need to rewatch this episode.
What really made me happy watching this episode was how the animation added to each character's characterization.
Well, Hyouka as a whole becomes much better later on. I'm not too surprised by the initial disinterest from some regarding the opening at all.

Where would the best place to find material for the upcoming avatar month? I'd like to spend as little time possible trawling through terrible erotic fanfics of my favourite shows, possibly ruining my perception of them forever.
I have such fond memoires of Rave Master when I saw it half a decade back.
It's a disease.
He could go lewder.
No shame in liking a good series. You should watch Fairy Tail by the same guy, though it isn't as good as Rave.
I just noticed Brave won the Oscar for Best Animated Picture. Do the fuckers who vote for this even watch cartoons? They should rename the category "Yearly PIXAR award".
Bet everyone forgot about this one.

Wreck-It Ralph was genuinely better than Brave. Not that Mamoru Hosoda didn't get jobbed! What Disney can learn from Disney.

When's the last time a non-cg film has even been nominated?
They're a bunch of old fucks by and large. There was no way Wolf Children was winning either way. He had no Disney backing, for one, he's also not super well known and the movie didn't generate much international buzz. All in all, fuck the Academy.

I wonder if the official nude art done for Utena would count.

Oh Goddamit, getting my anime urges again :c
I hate myself for not being able to keep up with anime, I always start watching one and stop. The only anime I followed was Naruto back in the day. What can I do, AnimeGAF lords?

Can't be any less well-known than the super-obscure French shit that gets nominated year after year. I know that Spirited Away won its year, but is it unreasonable to suggest that the Academy is just biased against Japanese animation?
Nyanpire
You know, this is actually a pretty good overall list. I mean, it's great because Hyouka is #1, but it's even better that I can just say go through the list to people.Watch the top 10 anime of last year because this season is a wasteland.
Hyouka did things with KyoAnis animation and the very language of film that would make Walt Disney and D.W. Griffith bleed from their brains
Wait, the avatar thing wasn't a joke? I can't do it in good conscience when there are still Tamako Market avatars to be made and used!
Technically speaking, a movie has to be shown in American theaters to be considered. Can't be any less well-known than the super-obscure French stuff that gets nominated year after year. I know that Spirited Away won its year, but is it unreasonable to suggest that the Academy is just biased against Japanese animation?
Honestly, beyond anime and animated features, the fact that "name recognition" is even a factor to consider when handing an award that's supposed to reflect quality is laughable. Surely the people passing as judges have enough investment in their area to know stuff besides the most marketed of the mainstream?
To be fair, if marketing were genuinely the main factor we wouldn't see all these movies nobody gave any shit about winning all the other categories year after year. It's just the animation award that seems to be afflicted with this phenomenon.Honestly, beyond anime and animated features, the fact that "name recognition" is even a factor to consider when handing an award that's supposed to reflect quality is laughable. I think they probably just have a general lack of interest/awareness in non-Miyazaki anime. Nothing Miyazaki has done since Spirited Away really deserved to win, and no one other than him really has any sort of name recognition. It's a bias, but a bias of apathy rather than one of disliking it.

But Ratatouille is PIXAR's best film ever!I have generally not enjoyed Pixar's output post-The Incredibles (although I've yet to see Up)
