Obviously any good news for Xbox is shill talk but any AI generated crap that is bad news for Xbox is a shining example of factual journalism, but putting that to one side for a minute.

If Xbox really are planning to release new hardware, are they seriously going to do it with no exclusive software? If hardware sales have dropped significantly since they began revealing they would put first party games on every platform, they must know that one is incompatible with the other.

Microsoft has given up on Europe so selling 290k units is still an achievement. There's barely any Xbox marketing left and you couldn't even buy an Xbox console during the holiday period in some European countries. Same with the new 2TB model - it's not widely available.

From a retail perspective, in the UK the Xbox barely has any visibility.

Step into any GAME store and you’ll see the Xbox section has been replaced with LEGO, with Xbox relegated to a small corner at the back.

In Spain you won’t see Xbox at all in shops.

Xbox sales are really, really bad currently. And their decision to go third party is insane.

In my opinion, the main problem is the acquisition of Activision- Blizzard - King. It doesn't have any synergy with the Xbox brand, and force them to cut cost to have a better return on investment.

The future looks dark, but remember that WiiU was an even bigger failure than Xbox Series X|S. Maybe they have a Switch in their pocket.

They literally did that with Series.

When it comes to Nintendo people forget about the 3DS which sold a whopping 75 million units.

Switch is as much a successor to the 3DS as it is the Wii U.

Ive had my series X since release because I was dumb enough to buy into the gamepass promise of all these "amazing" first party titles coming on day one to the service.

Where are they Phil? So far we've had what...Halo, Starfield and Avowed? And they've hardly wowed people. I was sold on having stuff like Fable, Gears, Perfect Dark etc etc and we've seen a relative fuck all of them.

I could have gone this entire gen without the series X and not missed a damn thing.

Maybe drop the price?
Price isn't the barrier. When Series consoles have been heavily discounted its barely moved the needle.

When you're trying to balance the books with every unit of hardware making a loss, the last thing you want to do is cut your own throat as well as your wrists.

Absolutely, but 3DS was also a failure (almost it did far better than WiiU):
- It has sold half of what DS did.
- It has missed the sales target almost every year.

At this rate if they ever make another Xbox console it'll probably do under 20M and will end up in Wii U/Vita territory. They sold over 3M last year but this year people will know everything is coming to playstation and pc now.

It's gonna be tough for the sales guy in the shops to present Xbox as an option to parents. So you can get an Xbox which has some great games or you can a playstation which has better games plus all the Xbox games. Only parents who hate their kids will buy an Xbox.

If it ends up being an “Xbox” branded Windows PC does it really matter if it doesn’t sell tens of millions?

I actually love my Series X. Its the perfect Retro-Box. Like the whole Generation, it just misses some new games and experiences. But since even the few new games are boring, playing old games on it with all the boost is a blast. In this context, even the Series S fits in perfectly.

For sure. Except if they start again to only release their games on Xbox next generation.

If you wanna play Nintendo games, you need a Nintendo console. If you want to play first party Sony games (at least for the first few years), you need a PlayStation. If you want to play Microsoft games, you don’t need an Xbox. I think it’s really that simple. The PC Market has really grown these past few years, and Xbox has spent almost two console generations publicly popping their pants. They’ve crossed that threshold where even a lot of casuals know that the good games are on Nintendo and PlayStation. Phil Spencer should’ve been ejected by 2020.

This is unfortunate because competition breeds creativity and more consumer friendly practices. I don’t want to live in a world where Sony no longer has any competition. If Xbox goes under, maybe the PC Market will be the new completion for Sony, I dunno. It’s hard to predict the future dudes.

We’re posting AI generated articles now?

Was going to say that while I don’t necessarily disagree with the overall premise; between the wording, overall structure and math mistakes, this was easy to see as AI output.

And whoever posted it didn’t even clean up the text/polish it a bit.

Forza Horizon series has been pretty decent and I liked 4 quite a lot just for driving through English countryside.

Then you have Flight Simulator which was great. New one is buggy but should be patched up in a few months. It’s a bit more of a PC title I feel though.

And you have Indiana Jones that recently released. That was surprisingly good.

And yeah, in general their output has been pretty sparse and kind of mediocre.

I was around when SEGA died. Don't worry, there will be new competition to take Xbox's place. Just as Xbox replaced SEGA.

And no, i have to remind people that you don't need an infinite warchest to run a console, it's just that Xbox tried to buy their way into the industry and failed. Sony is making good profits off PlayStation without spending too much. A quick google showed that Sony spent 1 billion dollars on PlayStation in 2020 and 2 billion in 2023. That's hardly breaking the bank for mega-corps. Amazon can pay that easily.

Xbox already quit.
Quiet-quiting, you mean. They are taking up space and refusing to make it official. Amazon wouldn't throw their hat into the ring until the ink dries.

It's rather amazing how it seems that some people are just completely unable to comprehend this very fact.
No I comprehend it. I’ve had every PlayStation ever. I just don’t get the blind hate towards Xbox. Guess some people just live online and make PlayStation their entire identity.
