They had the disc version of the series X for $350 (with a game) over a year ago. Now the digital version with no game is like $100 more than that. No thanks.

Give me something like Avowed or Indiana Jones with an Xbox for $350 and I'll buy one right now.

Consumers will. 🤷‍♂️

I feel like that doesn't work as well as it should. Or as quick as it should.

There's always going to be a period of time where the dominant player just milks their position for a while. For now it's a complete mismanagement of 1st party without giving af.

It's at least 25 million, and the $80 billion is reported to investors so it is true.
Show me where it states that Series X/S generated xxx in any quarter during an earnings release, you won't be able to because xbox revenue is hidden within the compute segment which also contains Windows revenue. There's a reason they hide the numbers behind Windows.
80 billion across all platforms
What all platforms....? We are talking about SERIES X AND S.

I'm saying that $80 billion generated wasn't just from SERIES X AND S.

I know what you're saying but that article claims the "series" generation, which is Series S and X and nothing else, helped make 80.8b. Then it proceeds to say "across all platforms" which makes no sense, first it seems they're talking about Series S/X specifically and proceed to vaguely refer to xbox ecosystem. Bullshit article.

I have no idea why Spencer isn’t in Guantanamo.

In years to come, he will be studied as one of the truly great incompetents. The activision deal will mask how shit Xbox is.

Zero games of note. Middling console. An awful subscription service that serves up lukewarm dogshit.

Awful.

That's fair. I originally remembered the article saying that the Xbox Series generation helped MS Personal Computing making over $80 billion, but I just reread it and he is indeed saying that this generation helped MS Gaming specifically make that money (though he is including money made on PC and prhet consoles). So overall you are right.

Yeah, it is a bit clickbait-ish to highlight the consoles in that article title. Should have just said $80 billion across all platforms.

As Germany was surrounded on both sides by the allies and making fast gains in 1945. The German people still held belief in the Fuhrer's secret wonder weapons.

I'm seeing a similar trend here.

An example of mismanagement just occurred with Concord. Consumers said no and Sony had to change their strategy. I do not think Sony needs Xbox out there to be the big bad wolf to scare them into "being better." After all, "the mismanagement of 1st party" happened while Xbox consoles exist. People also like to leave out Nintendo. Nintendo is still there and still the most competition Sony will ever have in the console space regardless if any other company comes into the space.

They should make me CEO. Xbox paid 70billion for Activision. They could have given away 150million consoles for that cost.
In comparison, currently Sony's yearly budget for PlayStation is a little over 2 billion USD.

In Hindsight, Activision was a much larger and more successful company than Xbox division. And it was inevitable that the larger one would devour the smaller one. Xbox was counting on Activision eating PlayStation, but it ate Xbox instead.

Microsoft doesn’t care about how many boxes they sell. They care about how much their gaming devision makes.

I see so many articles and takes about the system sales.. no one cares about that outside of fans. This isn’t a metric of success.

If Microsoft makes more money by being focused on software and subscription, then that’s what they care about. This isn’t about box sales. It’s about sales all up.

I don’t know how many times they have to tell you this.

If Xbox sales were high they absolutely would care since it would help them make way more money.

More hardware sales = more subscriptions + more third party royalties.

System sales aren't some standalone thing. They directly impact your other revenue streams.

As it is, the Xbox hardware sales are so low that they are better off transitioning to being a third party publisher.
