Vibing with it so far. Am tired after work though so resting for the night. First person combat surprised me with how well it's done and the game is far from mediocre looking but I do see shimmer and artifacts on performance mode on xsx.

Really excited about this now

What time is it?
More impressions:

-How come I can't ride this aqua goat man that keeps bothering me?
-Nothing behind the first waterfall?
-I killed a monkey!
-I killed two monkeys!
-I think I have the shinning.
-Physics and swinging your weapons are a little odd but I like the heft.
-Thanks for the ship lady!
-Three monkeys!
-Four!
-I can't kill you crazy man?
-Well that was lie!
-Good thing you escaped your cell to be turned into ash, boat lady.
-Call me T-Pain because I'm on a boat.
-Now where is a mermaid?

Is it just me or are the menus incredibly unresponsive? Still not sure what I think of the game in general, but I'm already fed up with the menus after an hour.
I am dinking around with the game at work on my iPhone via Xbox remote play via the app. I am using the touch screen, and accessing the menu's haven't been unresponsive at all. Though my fingers must be pretty dumb because I suck at using a touchscreen for gaming. I have my controller here, but I only use it when others are not in the office for the day. I don't want to make it THAT obvious :p

Performance is a bit so-so on SX, but Ive just been playing a lot of CoD lately. It feels a bit like going back to the 00s and Elder Scrolls.

Godlike features I turned off, I dont get it. And I skipped the character editing and went with the Chris Hemsworth premade.

Plays great on my PC. Third person working really well so far as well. I'll go back to first person later when combat is more invovled and see which I prefer.
If I accidentally press in on my right stick, it switches between first person and 3rd person. Not good for me when I am a solid button masher.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

There is an option to quote unquote turn off third person mode in the options, not sure but it feels like after I disable that option, I need to hold the right stick in for a second or two before it goes the third person mode. Just a simple tap doesn't change perspectives for me, I have to deliberately hold it.

Yeah, maybe I held it down too long on my phone. I prefer 3rd person. I was startled when it went to 1st person. I was like EWE!! So gay!

Was able to jump in for a couple of hours and so far:

Pros:
Love the platforming and verticality of areas so far (like the first place you get to from the boat, I felt encouraged to climb the buildings, look around, etc). Feels a bit like Doom Eternal in some ways, really like this and hope there's a lot of it. This is definitely my favorite part so far.
Think it's really neat that you can freeze open sections of water to get to other areas, or whatever, to make real time platforms.
Combat feels solid so far - I like how punchy it feels at times. Magic doesn't feel as good, but haven't used it a lot.
Seems to run good, looks good.

Neutral:
Don't like that all skills are just available to any character and that there aren't classes.

Negative:
Dialogue doesn't seem great and I feel like the choices in conversation are set dressing at best.

That's really it so far. We'll see how it goes.

Sorry guys i'm really behind on my PC specs and whats good/bad but any idea if it's worthwhile me buying this on my gaming lappy? I want to play it but not going to buy an Xbox for one game.....again

CPU Brand: AMD Ryzen 7 4800H with Radeon Graphics
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPU
RAM: 32175 Mb
Windows 11 (64 bit)

Not sure if you need to know anything else but any insight would be great.

Runs on "high" for me with a 1080ti and 32 RAM. Epic settings cause frame rate degradation though.

Will the game open up at a later point?
Because i'm at the beginning and it's pretty much linear level design.
Yes areas become more open. You’ll have big areas with quests to go on. That beginning area is small for a reason. You’ll get to a point where you’ll fast travel because it’s going to take you a while to get where you’re going.

The water freezing is available quite early with items or you went wizard?

Graphics and performance are great on PC, exploration seems really good and combat feels great. Dialogue writing and delivery is pretty weak, coming from KCD2, this is a big step down. Also wtf is this aim acceleration on the controller, feels awful. KCD2 nailed this too. Not gonna play more until i finish the other huge RPG, but will play it later for sure

Weird. I have moments where I'm clicking triggers to swap pages in the menu screen or trying to exit and it literally takes 7-8 tries before it works once. As soon as I'm back to playing, every button works 100% every time so I know it's not the controller.

Colour me interested, although only a few hours in.

I think it looks great, controls great, and seems light enough for me as I’m really not into heavy rpgs with pages of stats etc.

Can’t decide between first and third person. If the main walk animation wasnt so stooped, I’d probably keep third person.

A few traversal stutters on the XSX though in performance mode. I tried quality mode, but the 30fps wasn’t cutting it - input lag seemed horrendous.

I played 20 mins in the prologue area but I'm also pretty far into Trails Through Daybreak 2. Gonna try to finish it by tomorrow so I can dedicate time to Avowed.

Also got Yakuza Pirate waiting in the shadows for my time. Such a first world problem. :(

About an hour with the XSX ver, i like it, presentation is nice, game seems polished, playing the performance mode and i'm satisfied so far.
It's a shame there isn't any option to turn enemies hp bars off.

I feel like this screenshot I just took looks a lot better than the in game visual - I see a lot of jaggy.. Or not exactly jagginess, but little artifacts. What setting, if any, could I adjust to reduce this in the game?

Just made my character loaded in to the starting zone and am taking a break to prepare dinner. Plan on jumping in fully tonight. Thinking of going spell sword / paladin - this a fairly viable build? It’s my go to in RPGs. Any tips?
