Let me guess. Xbox tax?

Tired of dated game design mediocrity tax.

So every RPG is supposed to be sim style now?
Buddy, it's a role-playing game. If you can't immerse yourself in the world then call it something else, action-adventure game maybe.

I wonder how you will be able to enjoy Witcher 4, most CRPGs etc
I probably won't, CDPR makes very shallow RPG systems.

Now in defense of obsidian the physics shown in Skyrim/Elders Scrolls game is a unique feature of them or maybe were.

Does KCD2 have such interaction even?

It's apparently woke because all the characters in authority are woman? Except for the ambassador I guess. Or the leader of the rebels. Or another very important Godlike. Or the Governor of the Animancers. Or the Emperor. Or one of the most powerful Archmages in the setting. Or the first two companions you get. Or the owner of the Emporium.

Or the side quest where you get a guy laid by the whores that you helped out in a previous side quest.

Grifters calling it woke aren't actually playing it or they are and are deliberately hiding everything to push a false narrative about it.

The game doesn't even have body customisation for your character and you can't even attack NPC's or even random boars. Can't expect it to actually have a physics engine.

You can see a hint of a cool game there. I just can't stomach woke stuff anymore. It kills the immersion for me. Oh well.
Goodness I didn't know it was that extreme I almost spend the money on the premium Gamepass version to play early, not sure I even want to try it when it is on normal GP now.

If Veilguard was written with HR in the room, this game was written with HR locked in a soundproof chest in the basement. DAMN. I'm six hours in and doing all side quests and some of the writing is surprising in Current Year. It's like mid 2000s humor at times.

It's the same as Outer Worlds. I found it insufferable in that too. No way am I subjecting myself to that again.

I watched Mac's review, who i nearly all ways agree with and like his honesty, and it's pretty much what i was expecting from Avowed in the end, a real shame it wasn't Obsidian's version of Skyrim like the very 1st trailer we got hinted at, i won't be buying or playing Avowed, not my type of game.

This does look more interesting than earlier previews would indicate. I may grab this at some point. Is there DLC planned? I was surprised that the premium edition wasn't very premium. No added content beyond skins. You paid $20 for early access. Dang.

Ya boy Asmond likes it, give it a shot!
lol... like I said man, it would take a miracle to get me to play this. I'm not trolling when I say I dislike woke shit. I despise it. I've watched tons of reviews and Avowed continues to look like an extremely milquetoast, soyboy gaming experience.

Asmon said it's like a 7/10 btw. Not exactly a glowing endorsement. He did the same thing with Veilguard. Has no impact on my purchase decision.

Both Asmon and the Worth a Buy guy said the gameplay was simple fun. I don't doubt that. What I'm not doing is suffering through boring writing and woke nonsense to have simple fun. I'm not wasting my time and money on that stuff anymore.

interdasting

You really don't need to play this to know what you're getting.
I'll type it out since it somehow went over your head. Why would someone who values their time be watching tons of reviews (and post in threads about for days) for a game it would take a miracle to get them to play?

What if I gift you a code?

I mean I'm not fucking doing that .. but what if ? :P

Skill up went in, said there's lots of parallels to Veilguard.

"Avowed is fine it, it really is. Ultimately though it kind of just feels like content like it's the Netflix show you watch while you're folding your laundry or it's the game that you play while you're waiting for a better game to come along. "

Sounds mid.

Yeh, the main takeaway seems to be that the combat is good, the exploration is decent, but everything else is anywhere ranging from bland to horrible.

Fightincowboy also covered this and enjoyed the combat, so that's enough for me to pick it up at some point down the line on deep sale, but he tends to put very little weight on aspects outside of combat and has a tendancy to skip through dialogue (or interact with his audience via chat when dialogue is playing out).

They might have been better off just stripping everything else away and made it in to a spellcasting action game, but that would never happen when the studio is seeming so full of people who have agendas outside of simply wanting to make an entertaining game.

Based! Was waiting on Skill Ups input. I think at this point, I'm going to finally play Trepang2 instead and maybe end up trying this at some point down the road. Maybe not.

So, after watching this video, it actually did convince me that the Combat looks pretty decent I must say. Far better than KCD2.

I'm not a big fan of everything else (character design, story, etc), but the Combat may make it decent enough to play and the visuals are not bad for a UE5 game.

It really fucking sucks that devs can't get most things right. This could have been an excellent game if it had compelling systems/worldbuilding/characters/art direction/story......so frustrating that it's such a mixed bag

Avowed has some great world design and some fantastic combat...

It came at the expense of the most integral parts of an experience like this: Its writing is weak. Its storyline is weak. Its companions are weak. Its RPG and itemization systems are generic and unbalanced. It's yet another one of these surface level RPGs from a major studio who have made better, deeper RPGs in the past.

And I really don't love this recent trend of combining shallow writing with shallow RPG elements in hopes you'll make your game accessible to people who otherwise might not be interested in it. Spoiler alert: That's not interesting to anyone. Full stop.

Oof! SkillUp from the top rope!

Skipped to the summary at the end. Says the game didn't feel "woke" to him. The pronouns are there obviously and he talks about the fact that appearance is customizable so that you can make a male wear makeup and such. That seems to be the extent of it from what he has played. Everyone can make their own choice about that and no one is really "wrong" in making that decision for themselves, but that certainly isn't enough for me to avoid this game. Overall he says the game is pretty decent. I was already all in on giving it a shot, but now I'm actually getting excited about playing Avowed.

Just a few more days.

Agree with overall conclusion you've come to. Biggest thought now is do I have time to start and finish Indiana Jones before Avowed comes out?
