Then why is is called Crucible gear? Misleading.
So how do I join a faction then? I have to choose one of the 3 and be stuck with their gear?
Does this effect my vanguard stuff?

I am lucky enough to have two exotic weapons. Naturally you can only equip one at a time. My Gjallarhorn rocket launcher is leveled quite a bit and my Suros Regime auto rifle is new. With a heavy ammo synthesis module I can swap out my Suros and equip the Gjallarhorn when I need it. Swapping out weapons normally eats up ammo, but using a module solves that problem. I can quickly use five rockets and switch back to my other exotic.
Gjallarhorn Rocket Launcher: Solving problems 1000 Glimmer at a time. Especially triple Armored Minotaur spawns several levels higher than yourself. If I end up doing a Raid when they open I will be well stocked with modules.

This time table got me the Devil Walker and Extraction Crew public events back to back last time I tried it.
Two of us got a legendary gun, and the third person got 6 of the rare upgrade materials, so yeah. =/
Wow. I get a couple of public events every time I play. Only been able to complete one do to lack of players.
it could be worst it could be First Light or Bastion all the time.

Does +Light gear have a chance of dropping anywhere... lower level areas, etc.? Been 20 for a bit now and not really sure what I should be doing to increase my chances of getting this gear. I'd like to focus on bounties in lower level areas as I run with some friends who aren't 20 but if this drastically impacts my ability to improve my gear, I'll have to give it some consideration.
Earth patrol. Low level mobs and they bunch up easily.

I've done around 15-20 public events they pop up all the time for me. Level 22 now making my way to 23! No legendary gear yet though

Man I am going to love this Defender. Lv. 6 right now and unlocked the Forcr Barrier. Gonna come in handy throughout. Definitely going to pull early armor toward Strength to get constant Disintegrate available.

Found a fair bit on the Earth Strike. I get drops in the room with 3 phases where the door is being unlocked, and then the final room against Prime.

I can't honestly see myself playing this game for much longer, I will give the glass dungeon a go on tuesday but i've had enough with the shit ass PvP balance and pointless hard bullet sponge bosses, today is the day where i'm feeling burned out.
auto rifle domination in PvP is so annoying, in fact such quick deaths is not fun and a poor decision from the multiplayer lead.

Okay, can someone explain something to me about sub-classes? If I decide to, say, use the Sunsinger subclass, does this stop the leveling of void walker while I'm not using it?

I must of found every Blue weapon type now apart from what I actually want, a Scout Rifle. I even got a Legendary AR! Damn you!

It's called Crucible gear because... you need to play Crucible to get that gear, lol.
Just like with Vanguard gear, you need to play the Vanguard Strikes to earn marks towards Vanguard equipment.
You join a faction by purchasing a class item (Warlock bond, Titan sash, Hunter cloak) and equipping it while doing Crucible or Vanguard stuff, then you earn points each time you complete an event towards that faction. You aren't stuck with one faction, though you should look into which faction you'd like to join based on your class build (INT, STR, DIS) since they offer different combinations of those stats with their gear.
Shores of Time is still one of the best maps, tho.

Rumble is still my favorite but I'm coming to appreciate Control more. I started getting a better feel for it when I pick one of the point to make "mine" and always kind of head back to/defend that one, and only use my super when it's taken and needs to be cleared out.
I'd love to do some Skirmish/Salvage with a GAF fireteam sometime too
You can do it on the regular strike if you really want to (though I don't see the point). That's level 14 I believe.
