OK, pretty sure I chose combined arms and it's just Control on that mars map with the vehicles. I thought it was like death match just with more vehicles.

I got like 4000 glimmer in less than an hour at the PCP farming spot. SHouldn't be too hard to accrue the glimmer part of it.

My main class is a Hunter. I have enough strange coins to buy the chest piece..should I? I don't have a single piece of legendary or exotic armor currently. Just not sure if I should buy this or try and hold off in case there's something better next week.. Or I could gamble with the engram and hope to get something better and save my coins for the gun he sells next week.

Do you have enough vanguard marks to buy one from your class vendor?

I forgot to mention this - you can only buy one Strange Coin with materials (Spirit Bloom/Spinmetal). Once you buy one the other option also goes away.

Edit - dudes on Reddit say you can only choose two period, so I guess you could buy both coins with materials and ignore the Glimmer option (but that would be silly IMO).

You've still got to go through the story a bit to get there though. Seems like a lot of time putting into it just to get one coin but I guess if you don't mind sinking all that time into it then it's not bad.

the funny thing is,

there are probably (likely?) people who have farmed a mob spawn for 10+ hours and never received an exotic. this farm, in that time, you would likely produce enough coins to buy 5 by tomorrow. granted they're mostly for different classes and one is a random roll for a chest piece, so it's probably better to just continue up at skywatch where you always get exactly what you are looking for.

No. Do not gamble on your first try for a legendary/exotic. Buy the exact vendor piece you want. When you get to level ~25, the number of strange coins you can earn per week is much more reasonable (this weekend farm notwithstanding).

edit: Er- don't gamble with the engram.

If you like Lucky Raspberry than hell, go for it It's not good for my playstyle and I don't like how it looks, but I'd have bought it for the Light if not for my new baby XD

Intolerable from my perspective. But people with nothing to do will be able to go hogwild and stockpile coins right now.

Kind of expect this to be patched maybe even by Xur's next visit.

The legendary armors give you 2 light per upgrade until the last ones that require ascendant materials. +1 light for my warlock hand piece.

Dead Orbit legendary's can be upgraded to 28 light each (base of 18 then 5 possible upgrades) so full set, fully upgraded will be 112 light (or level 29)

To reach level 30 you must be wearing a set of 3 legendary's and 1 exotic

My char update. Getting close to that full legendary suit! None of these have come from a farm spot either. No dropped legendary has produced a legendary. Nearly all my cryptarch legendary engrems have though thankfully. Chest and Cape are Vanguard.

Got tons of upgrading to do. Probably need 200 spirit blooms

it isn't that way. You have experienced a fluke and ascribed it to the intended design.

I have opened zero legendary engrams. I have received zero legendaries or exotics as drops.

I also didn't progress as far as I could have if I'd been more hardcore about it.

I bought the rocket launcher. In 3 more coins I can get the hunter chest plate to replace my purple, but I'm a gunslinger and its tailored towards blade dancer.

Might just save them for next time. All my armour is purple now - just need a purple secondary to get rid of the last blue.

Don't see why not, unless Bungie restrict how many times you can delete and create a character.

Effects of Light-leveling:

• In any scenario which your level is compared to the mob you are fighting, you do more damage and take less damage. This effect is immediate upon "crossing" the next level.
• Your personal loot table seems totally dependent on your light level. I didn't see a single piece of Lvl 20 rare gear until hitting 22. now, a majority of my drops are 19 and 20 gear.
• Unlocks content. The raid requires level 26.

Yeah apparently he moves around though. Go visit the Speaker and follow the crowd.

I used Xur's material exchange for the glimmer and spirit bloom (got one strange coin for each), but then the third exchange for spinmetal disappeared. So apparently you can only get two of the three.

It's just unfortunate that the "intended design" of endgame progression is not clearly communicated and so many folks are going off on wild RNG goose chases.

I'm still progressing slowly, but thanks to your guide, I won't make that mistake when I hit level 20 (hopefully very soon).
