what's going on with all the comments with instantly 10 or 20 likes after being posted saying there is no difference

Add to this that Microsoft does not have a Pro version and you already have the perfect storm

I'm also curious to see what Insomniac might do with a PS5 Pro fidelity mode. Mike Fitzgerald from Insomniac hinted in an interview I conducted last month that a fidelity mode with additional RT (like RT shadows or RTAO) could be in the cards for Pro owners.

Could be in the cards for Pro owners? It's simply absurd that the Fidelity Pro mode isn't available from day one at a price of $700.

Honestly a pretty underwhelming upgrade, not only is the image quality boost minor but unlike other games its seems to dumb down the graphics setting from the fidelity mode to target 60fps and I feel they could have done a lot more in terms of an rt upgrade.

I thought it was just using the perf RT mode with PSSR (same with other Pro updates, using perf modes and making it look as sharp as quality modes).

Yeah most games have been using fidelity mode graphics settings or even better targeting 60fps. This game is basically using the lowered graphics settings from performance mode and just using pssr....rather embarrassing lack of effort from a 1st party studio.

That was such a weird video. To make comparisons with one of the most impressive PS5 titles fidelity mode to PS5 pro performance mode.

Granted I quit watching DF years ago.

I also quit watching the video about 10 minutes in because it got to weird spending a lot of time and words on base PS5 victory over the two modes, again, already being one of the best looking and performing games on base PS5.

Too many questions like why ratchet, it's already great? Definitely would not convince me of buying a PRO although advertising for Sony is far from their strength and history.

I own Ratchet and Clank on PC.

I'm looking forward to comparing the version on my Pro with what it looks like on my 4090. i did the same comparison with the base PS5 version but it will be nice to see it on the Pro :messenger_beaming:

This is one of my favorite games of all time :messenger_smiling_with_eyes:

This video is basically everything zoomed like 10 times and slowmo. No one would notice these things playing the game.

I really want to see some faceoff of 3rd party releases tbh

this is exactly what I expect from every "Pro enhanced" game, I just care about the increased FPS.

Not too good on this one ... still needs work.

Base PS5 has better effects. Hopefully it gets fixed.

I think the pro looks better with less pixel artifacts. Lighting too.

Also, the scene is in real time I believe so the water is different depending on when and where the drops hit. Hence the drops on the leather strap on the Pro but not on the base, as well as the objects in the background moving around to reflect in his eyes.

They need to stop showing these games that already run great and look great. Where’s the Elden Ring quality unlocked mode? Is it stable 60 fps now? Is the quality mode in Rise of the Ronin stable 60? How’s unlocked quality in AC6? Wukong? AW2? Jedi Survivor? RE4 with ray-tracing?

They need to show games that didn’t look that great due to FSR and dropped from 60 constantly.

Not a $700 difference
if you're paying it for this mid game, I would agree.

Based on what we have seen though, the initial pitch from Cerny, that you will get performance framerate with fidelity detail, seems to be the case and if anything it is better than that. The previews of many games say that the PS5 Pro 60fps modes look better than the PS5 30fps ones.

Check that out as well.
In addition, the PS5 Pro allows "Raytraced Ambient Occlusion (RTAO)" to be enabled in the 60FPS Performance mode, which was previously only possible on the 30FPS Fidelity option. This option won't be available on base PS5, technical director Maciej Kurowski clarifies in a blog post.

My joke is a thing,
Top scar self shadowing.

All kidding aside, 60fps with RTAO is quite impressive.

This is an awful video.

He compares Fidelity mode to PS5 Pro Performance mode except one of these runs at 30 fps.

He also misses an obvious opportunity to compare the game running on a 4070 on PC... I wonder why...
Yeah. I,too thought that is weird DLSS wasn't compared to PSSR since the DF crew compare DLSS to PSSR from a trailer vs having seen Sony's form of Uber resolution in person.

To be honest I'd forgotten just how good this game looks anyway. I think I'm going to pick it up.

Because it's a Pro video and should be compared to the regular PS5 as that's the comparison that is the most relevant?

What matters is how it stacks up to the PS5 since that's what it's upgraded from.
And? The comparison could be both of the PS5 base vs the Pro and PSSR vs DLSS as the PC comparison would be about upscaler from different tech companies.

And that's the focus? The point of the video is to highlight the benefits the Pro brings to this game over the regular PS5. Featuring PC footage wasn't the objective and that's why it wasn't included. They will most definitely do DLSS vs PSSR comparisons in the future, but not with this one.

Most people don't actually care how it stacks up to PC.

I mean .. you're kinda proving his point with this.

It's taking a 3X zoomed in image and you still have to pick specific parts of the image to show that there's an improvement. This is barely above PS5/SX comparison differences in this case.
Am I trippin'? Because the images don't look the same even though they supposed to be the same area. I'm not talking about the quality of the reflections, I'm referring to the stuff in the image. The base PS5 looks like it has more stuff while being slightly off in terms of the angle.

It is obvious that comparing PSSR to DLSS will give the latter an advantage. DLSS was released 6 years ago and have gone through multiple revisions. The point here is that for this being Sony’s first AI upscaler, the results are incredible.
