That's some good speculation. Who'd of imagined Fable on a PlayStation in this timeline looking back 10 years ago, let alone Day 1.

Playground as a studio have actually delivered multiple finished games. The Initiative was all bark but no bite, a hodgepodge of reputable people who never worked together before as a team and so egos clashed and made a mess.

I still don't buy the story they were always intended as a "script doctor", making an outline for another studio to build off of. Just makes no sense; that'd of just made them a consultancy firm. Why try selling them as a "AAAA" if that were the case?

Not a surprise. Fable is the one Xbox studio game that is clearly attempting to compete with blockbuster games like God of War, Cyberpunk, TLOU2. Xbox as a brand will heavily rely on the reception of Fable. Hopefully it's worth the wait

Gives more time for day1 ps5 port, which has been heavily rumored

anyone dropping games near the end of the year are going to have to go against a just launced GTA. Any other game will be basically dead on arrival.
Fable will be good, Playground doesnt miss.

Such a shame that these development hell mostly never see the light of day. I bet many MS studios have tales to tell. This and Perfect Dark alone would prolly make good novels.

Playground games are awesome but giving them a franchise as big as Fable and asking them to reboot it essentially just dosen't add up. They really should've given this franchise to a studio who's familiar with storytelling and RPG's like Obsidian or someone else because i don't think they can handle this project 'Should've never gotten rid of lionhead studios'.

Playground pitched for the game. It wasn’t on anyone’s radar. MS didn’t own Obsidian when Fable was greenlit.

Given that we've seen no gameplay, I figured this would be the case. At best a Holiday 2025 release. I'm still optimistic on the game, but I'm not going to be negative nor positive until we see gameplay.

Having no gameplay though after 5 years is insane and Horizon ZD also was developed on a brand new in house engine during that timeframe as well and had an extended gameplay trailer at E3 2015.

Now to see if that Oblivion remake is even real and if Gears of War E day can make it.

It is known to be using ForzaTech. That's what is reported to be the cause of a number of their issues in the past.

Another reason why showing a game or giving a release date very far out is just plain stupid. Now the narrative around fable is going to be "the studio hasn't made anything aside from racing games before, the protagonist is ugly, and it's in rough shape because it got delayed 12-24 months".

At least they're giving it time if it needs time.

lol everything is getting delayed to next year. People just dont want to admit it. GTA6, Death Stranding 2, Ghost of Tushishima 2, anything thats big and originally set for 2025 is now releasing next year.

Only games that are releasing this year are games that were set to release in 2024.

That's like EA forcing everyone to use Frostbite to make their games, from racing, to sports, to RPGs before they had support in the engine for all those games. .

Fable
Gears
Clockwork Revolution
Perfect Dark

Already packed. 2025 is already packed. Just between now and May we get 33 Immortals, Atomfall, South of Midnight and Doom. Not all 1st party, but GP. 3 1st party games in the first 5 months of 2025, including Avowed. Towerborne and Outer Worlds 2 coming later in 2025, at a minimum.

Not really insane like I said after COVID and starting up a new team. ZD started the concept phase 5 years before the first showing also.

Not saying its not in the shit btw, just saying its not unheard of. They'll surely show gameplay in the summer, five years after the announce. Obscene, but thats modern western dev's for you.

If dogpiling on a character face is all peoples have seen that’s their problem, the rest and the environments especially was amazing looking, S-tier graphics
