Based on what? Market hasn't grown 2x from PS3 to PS4, why is it so from PS4 to PS5? Especially considering how strong Nintendo has been and how Microsoft has at least a hail mary for now.
Each console gen launch has been bigger than the previous for Sony I believe. PS2 had monster sale numbers but launch was a fraction of what PS3, 4, and 5 were. It just isn't the same market anymore. The demand up front really is that crazy.

It's the elasticity of demand over time. Each console launch has seen more inelastic demand in the first few months. Wait it out for two quarters or so, we'll see what the PS5 sells vs PS4.

If Sony could snap their fingers and meet demand as it stands today they would outsell Switch in Nov and Dec easily but come Feb, Mar, Apr Switch would be back on top. Switch has a lot of momentum and a ton of appeal beyond the PS/Xbox market. It'll put up the numbers over time.

This is a decent visualization. Sales and not demand, mind you but it tells part of the story. You see the initial sales in the first two months, and then things level out with big spikes for Christmas and the big November launches each year.

Well, I tried Super Mario Odyssey, but it's just not my kind of game. I fully acknowledge that the game is hugely popular, most people love it, it is objectively a masterpiece in its genre, and it is almost universally acclaimed; you don't get to 97 on metacritic by half-assing it.

However, it's just not for me. I think I'm a mismatch for platformers. I find the constant jumping -- boing, boing, boing -- tedious as a mechanic. That should be enough to tell me I'm not cut out for platformers, right? I also find it annoying when I miss a jump by a bit, then I have to keep replaying the same section over and over. My own lack of skill is a part of it, too. I don't have any nostalgia for Mario, either, so stuff like the 2-D retro sections just didn't land well for me.

So, Mario isn't for me. I appreciate a lot of things about the game (charming, colorful, inventive, etc.), but it's just not my style. That's good to know. Saves me time with the catalog.

I'm actually hankering for a little more Zelda-type gaming, so I may jump to Immortals: Fenyx Rising next.

I just updated my console today, and it seems 5G networks got patched out. Same for anyone else?
I haven't noticed anything. Both my Switches are connected to 5G.

I want Mario Kart Live, btw, but I don’t have hard wood floors, except for one small exception of a room, which would be really awkward to make a race track in, the way it’s set up now. I need to try to figure that out, or maybe find some kind of easily removable ‘track’ to put over carpet.

I really do think the actual game looks like a lot of fun, even surprisingly when you don’t have someone to play with.

It’s way quicker a window than BotW. I’ve pulled that and the parry off, only a couple of times.

This is really refreshing to me.

‘I don’t enjoy it, but I can see that it’s made really well, and other people do.’

Vs.

‘Lololol, everything I don’t like or have is crap’. Lol.

Immortals looks neat. I’m starting to change my mind on it, and might play it... sometime in the future.

After making sure it wasn’t a Series X, ofc.

I have too much in my backlog and with DOOM Eternal just around the corner I can't really get to Immortals yet. Ubisoft usually discounts their games shortly after release anyway (got burned by them a few times...) so I'll get it down the road.

Impressions seem to be good.

Thanks.

I appreciate that I saw the "empathy" emoticon being used in a non-sarcastic way for the first time ever. At least I think it was non-sarcastic, lol.

I only ever use Empathy for actual empathy, or as a kind of, I’m watching you joke.

I think it's one of those emoticons that is well-intended but is almost always used sarcastically, like "Oh, I feel sorry for you, poor baby." That's how it usually comes across to me, anyhow.

The :messenger_grinning_smiling: emoticon is kind of like that, too. I think it's meant to be laughing along with, or laughing at a joke. But instead it's often meant, "You are a joke" or "I am laughing at how stupid your statement is."

Oh well, watcha gonna do. People will be people...

Demeter's cast is the single most retarded thing ever in the history of videogames, it's the equivalent of a joke character in a fighting game and IT COST ME MY FUCKING STREAK GODDAMN IT!

I know we've beat a dead Epona with the Zelda anniversary talk but 2021 is a big year in general:

Zelda 35th**
Metroid 35th
Castlevania 35th
Dragon Quest 35th*
Persona 25th*
Pokemon 25th*

*Dev has mentioned and confirmed announcements
**Rumored announcements

Maybe I'll make a thread about it later but I think there is a chance the next 18 months end up with us swimming in remasters and ports.

Can someone explain to me the thought process behind the mobile version of Pokemon HOME having all the key features that are absent in the console version? It feels really ridiculous that I have to use a fucking mobile device as the central hub to better manage all the Pokemon I have actually caught and recieved from events on actual games and consoles. It's cancer being dumbed down to mingle with what mostly feels like Pokemon GO users.

Snow. : )

I just logged on for the first time since Halloween, and seeing everything beginning to get wintery was awesome.

I’m just a little frustrated that I totally missed Autumn. It takes way too long to look like this:

Xmtgsh8.jpg

And when it finally does, it’s gone in a flash. Just a little suggestion I would make to any Nintendo people that would happen to read our corner of the internet, would be to make this longer next year. Focus less on the realistic transition, and get to this gorgeous look faster.

But I’m supper happy about all the winter and Christmas stuff, and am going to be diving in.

I feel like this Animal Crossing, more than the last, really expects you to log in every day and do something. Between the more limited clothing supply, recipes, random special villagers showing up, and small seasonal events, it seems like Nintendo is trying to make Animal Crossing into a GAS-lite.

I agree with your complaint about Fall. It's over too quickly.

What Switch game trailers, are you all hoping will be shown at the gameawards? Personally i hope we get to see Metroid and Bayo 3 🥳

I HOPE for the same, I unfortunately think it is going to be their outlet for their next 3rd party smash fighter.

Their presence for TGA last year was Bravely Default 2 while it's one of my most anticipated games of 2021, It wasn't the huge reveal I was hoping for. But 2021 is going to be an amazing year for Nintendo just from what we know already. Newly Vacant Newly Vacant is forcing me to stop playing my PlayStation and focus on Nintendo backlog.

Disgusting, and you call yourself and Animal Crossing fan. I fell off hard too. I really want to get back into it I just wish there was a little more to do other than feeling like I'm logging in to just to dailies. I think i'm going to give it until the winter update and log in to see what i've missed.

if I have to find that stupid seagulls crap one more time I am going to lose it.

I'm surprised Nintendo hasn't added in the coffee shop, Re-Tail, or security building. Something else that brings more unique villagers to the game. There's ways to add more game to Animal Crossing, but everything's been pretty mild.

I feel like I need to hire someone to manage Animal Crossing for me. I have a lot of trouble balancing SP titles across all the platforms, all the FPS I play, and the MMO-like that is Destiny. The SP games and FPS games all take up time and Destiny can bring some serious weekly grind. Animal Crossing feels a lot like Destiny.

I find it also really odd they are hyping up Mother stuff lately and we haven't even seen he game on NSO. Makes you wonder if they are going to do some sort of collection that would be super cool.

Omg HEZ GOING TO ANNOUNCEZ MOTHER 3... No internet..no hes not. Just like you hyped yourselves up last year he is going to present an award and go take a bath in all of his money.

There for sure is paid Animal Crossing DLC coming that is a little more substantial.

Farm out your GAS games to a subcontractor. That's truly a 21st century profession.

I hope there will be at least one new game shown at game awards. Last year Nintendo had nothing to show, but at least Square-Enix showed Bravely Default II. Something similar would be appreciated.

Maybe a new Megaman from Capcom. New Castlevania from Konami would blow my mind.

Jooxed Jooxed said exactly what I was thinking. A paid DLC expansion similar to Pokemon's makes a ton of sense. No idea if they will do it. I think something more city oriented to contrast with the island would be ideal. Having the plane drop you off at small city somewhere could open up a lot of new possibilites.

I find it also really odd they are hyping up Mother stuff lately and we haven't even seen he game on NSO. Makes you wonder if they are going to do some sort of collection that would be super cool.
I think a lot of the recent Mother push has come from renewed interest from Itoi after the 30th anniversary last year. I am sticking to my theory that more paid "Virtual Console" games are coming. I would anticipated Mother 1/2 to be included amongst those. Japan could get Mother 3 via GBA VC. I still don't see Mother 3 happening in the US for being "problematic".

The amount of expectation Mother 3 has accumulated over the years will just lead to disappointment. It's a fun game, but it's decades old. It's not going to be the revelatory experience it's been built up to be. I'd like Nintendo to release it, just for completion sake, but I don't think it's ever going to see a western release.
